    Pep Guardiola's biggest legacy is the ability to improve players and developing them to the next level. Messi, Busquets, Pique, Pedro, Boateng, Alaba, Kimmich, De Bruyne, Sterling, Sane, etc

      I think Messi doesn't quite fall in the same bracket. Don't get me wrong, Pep identified Messi's most effective position and practically brought back the false 9 into football but I feel Leo being the god gifted talent he is, he would have shone even without Pep.
      But I agree with your general point. His greatest positive is an ability to build a team of winners who are all among the best in their positions and finding new roles for players, unlocking their true potential.

      I agree with you, Messi is in a world of his own. The most impressive improvements in City’s squad this season have been Otamendi and Sterling. They’ve been excellent and Delph and Zinchenko have really proven themselves.

      Suraj's Opinion is Better Pep doesn't get along with egotistical players, listen to what he says, his players need to play for the team, track back, play as part of a system - Eto'o and Ibrahimovic, who has also made snide comments about him, aren't players who'll do that because they think they're too good for it. Eto'o literally states outright that he was unhappy with Pep telling him how to play - Pep was his manager, it doesn't matter how good Eto'o is, if he can't follow instruction Pep can't work with him.

      Your* research. All I'm saying is these are all records for THIS format of PL. I don't hate Guardiola, Man City or their oil money spending. As a matter of a fact I think they're the only "newly rich with petrodollars" club that's actually doing things right (buying youth, having some of the best academies, hiring the top talent that made La Masia so good, business is ran well enough. I'm only saying this because whenever people mention Premier League records they don't ever recognize how the premier league was born in 1992, the pitch used to be different back then, there used to be about 42 games a season, etc. Guardiola's good, a master at what he does like no one else is. He needs top talent for his ideas to work and that's why he's spent so much and the higher ups have been preparing this project for him for so long. I don't hate him at all, nor do I hate the team.

    • @splinter360
      @splinter360 Před 6 lety +1

      drubio I'll be honest I didn't read all that, just the first line. I'll say to you once more. Some of these records (Like 100 points & 18 consecutive wins) are ALL TIME. That means for as long there's been a top flight (Yes even back when Preston North End were the team to beat and there were no crossbars).If you had watched the full Monday night football show you would see they went through the records and highlighted that. You're making yourself look silly by arguing against a fact.

    Love how wrong Gary was about Pep.
    Pep is comfortably the greatest coach to ever exist. Pep's squad is actually pretty average when you pick apart the players they've used per minutes and how he's implemented them.
    KdB box to box, average Silva in interior, Sterling doing numbers for goal output, Delph going to a WC because of Pep, tap in merchant Jesus looking better than he is, the use of width looks easy but many hoof ball sides try it and flop - Pep's found an unmatched balance at the moment.
    If the two players are Mahrez and Jorginho, it'll be harder to stop Pep.

    man united will sign maybe 3 or 4 more until mourinho signs a world class cb the premier league will be out of reach and even then if he carries on the way he sets his team up against top teams then united won’t rip the title from Man City’s grip. Mourinho needs to evolve I will reserve judgment whether he will but he really should play the same way no matter who is the opposition but with the defenders at his disposal compared to Man City you could argue he hasn’t had a choice but he has always done it that way regardless of the quality as his disposal... don’t know what his issue with shaw is but for sure I’ve said it since fergie left until man united sign a world class centre back they won’t win the premier league.. having said about the way he plays against the other teams united are contending with, funnily enough it’s probably the games at home against lesser teams where the race was lost this season. He needs a world class cb, to play Herrera alongside matic in the midfield so pogba can play at the point of the midfield and to find a way to fit Sanchez in to get the best out of him... I think it’s inevitable martial is sold, I don’t agree with it but mourinho can’t play Sanchez rashford n martial in the same team as long as lukaku is at the club... lukaku has done well but also not as good as he could’ve done we have him now but I wouldn’t have signed him but that’s in hindsight now united have Sanchez, without lukaku he can have Sanchez on the left, rashford on the right and martial as striker with them three interchanging similar to Liverpool with mane firmino and salah... but now one of them has to be left out in each game so I see him selling martial and signing perisic or maybe pulisic as a replacement.

Financially teams are strong yes not as much as city but still and every player has preference and they've seen likes of mou and klopp win big trophies , so the pull will be there for other clubs .
    Also win vs Liverpool early in the season city got the confidence that they are on to something special, coz a manager like pep understands what Liverpool and spurs are really all about.

    So I like how Pep acknowledges he needs to strengthen his squad up front. He realizes Aguero is only getting older, and Jesus needs either a backup or a partner. He didn't mention strengthening the back-line, which I think is smart. He brought players in and up to the first team and still has full confidence in their abilities. He also realizes the importance (though aging) of Kompany.

      I think he means more in the wide positions. They wanted Sanchez. And while B.Silva is superb, he doesn't offer the pace and directness that Sterling/Sane do and will be better in midfield eventually. Unless Aguero leaves, they have 2 top strikers.

    As much as I hate to say it if man united don’t sign a world class cb, on the basis that if mourinho does sign one he stops setting his teams up to play on the backfoot against the other top teams, so if not I feel Liverpool will be the closest to Man City next season, that’s if they also invest in a cb partner alongside van djik and a solid backup to come in for which ever one of the front three of mane, salah and firmino is rested I’ve heard possibly Fekir is on their radar... and signing another midfielder with keita the holding midfielder..

      These teams will always need to buy just one more 'world class' something or other and they'll never be good enough.

      @RGY33 Před 6 lety

      Michael St. Hill yeah of course I’m not saying if they do they will but they need to to even have a chance of getting anywhere close, I agree it’s not looking likely but he didn’t mess about and got players in the positions they most needed, kolarov and clichy were not good enough and he saw that and invested straight away on getting the standard of wingbacks he needed and picked up three of them in Walker, Danilo and Mendy... and tbf I didn’t say Liverpool needed wingbacks based on the level of performance klopp has managed to get out of little old Robertson and Alex Arnold... but tbf rethinking it in terms of getting consistency throughout a season in order to win or just challenge he probably does need to get at least one wingback in. I always thought if any team would’ve ended Man City’s unbeaten run in the premier league it was gonna be either Liverpool or Tottenham because of the energy they play with. But yeah it’s not looking promising for teams to outmuscle this Man City team off of clinching the title again but they can only try right.. I admit even if they do sign in the areas they need it will still be a huge task but will only strengthen the possibility instead of keeping the same squad and making no ground at all
