I have a chronic issue with neighbors fans since Oct 2022. There is a vibration/sound like at a electrical room coming from under my bed. Fans have been replaced twice yet in a lesser pitch that hum is disturbing when I try to have a peaceful restful sleep. The floor padding will be changed too but I want to have soundproofing to my headboard wall. What do you recommend?

@ 5:23 you start talking about Sound Absorption Blankets. Since I'm in an apartment setting and don't have the go ahead for any type of construction, I wanted to hang the Audimute blankets rated for 0.85 NRC. I was wondering if I left an air gap between the already constructed party wall if it would make any difference than just hanging it on the wall itself? My thought here is that it would decrease the amount of reverberation transferring through the wall. Thanks in advance.

Would 1/2 plywood behind drywall help with sound on a party wall?

Thanks for the video. How would I soundproof a terrace house (townhouse) wall that is built out of bricks? I am in the UK. There are no houses in the city built out of dry wall and pre-fab material. But even with brick walls and an already existing bookshelf and lots of furniture, I can still hear the neighbours loudly when they play their TV or music next door. They often have loud parties where the music is so loud that I can Shazam it to see which tracks they're playing as if it were in the same room. And this is with a brick wall partition. It's not possible to put sound insulation foam in between any walls because there is no gap that exists with bricks.

What if the sound coming through the party wall is deep reverberating footstep noise? Tapping the wall, it seems there is a cavity.

    How about a piano!
Its against a stairway wall....but neighbor claims it sounds like I'm playing in her living room.
    I have a loft/20 ft ceiling.

So I've watched a load of these soundproofing videos & green glue has been spoken about a number of times. So I was thinking, surely mastic would work equally well. It will stay rubbery acting as a dampener, just like those rubber washers on the resilient channels. Also, it will also have the same properties as green glue as the molecules will also vibrate from sound energy & disipate it partly as heat energy, just like everything else in this universe does.
So anyone used mastic in this scenario yet?

On my side - bedroom, on the other side - the neighbours kitchen, and i hear them dragging tables, chairs, dropping stuff, coffee machine, blender, whatever. A big family that wakes up at 4-5AM. Will adding a dry wall prevent the noises i mentioned? or will i need a mass loaded vinyl? I actually cannot find that material in my country so if yes, i would like to know what other alternatives are out there.

Drywall would definitely help but mass loaded vinyl is definitely not necessary. Add two more layers of 5/8” drywall with carpet glue (watch my latest video) and you should be good to go!

Noise proofing compound does not work , it's only an adhesive. Do not pay extra money for so called " sound deadening adhesive" doesn't exist....

None of this is practical in an existing apartment.
Practical = build 2X4 Panels of a size that can be easily carried by 2 men.
( Usually ~34 inches wide X 8 feet, or a few inches shorter than your Ceiling Height )
Completely fill the space in between the Studs with "Rock-Wool" Insulation,
cover the frame with your choice of Fabric, Carpet, or Heavy Draperies ..... Done.
Lean them against the wall with the bottom being around ~1 foot out from the wall, or,
attach the top of the frames to the wall with metal brackets or wire.
This will absorb SO MUCH sound, ON YOUR SIDE, that the noise from the other side may seem to be INCREASED !!!
It has not increased, what has happened is your ears have become more sensitive because of THE LACK OF NOISE on Your side.
The solution to this is to either play soft music, or get a "Pink Noise Generator", or play a recording of Ocean Waves.
This has the bonus of reducing reflected sound in your room, which makes listening to music FAR more enjoyable.
Your Ears will become more and more sensitive to sound as the sound level drops,
very similar to how your Eyes adapt to the dark at night, or extreme bright sunshine during the day.
But the real solution is to STOP CARING WHAT'S GOING ON NEXT DOOR, just stop paying attention to it.
Your Dog or Cat can hear FAR better than You can, the difference is, they don't place any significance on it, like YOU DO !!!

2X4 Panels, made with 2" X 4" wood Studs, ~8 feet tall, ~34 inches wide, with ~18" between the centers of the 3 vertical Studs,
All wall Insulation comes in standardized widths made to fit between the Studs in a Wall, usually 18" or 24" wide,
I suppose I could have called it a "Frame", and I actually did call it a Frame further down,
for people who are not familiar with standard wall construction.
