- The Office of the Inspector General Monday released a preliminary report on the deadly force used by Bristol Police officer Alec Iurato against the suspect in the shooting deaths of Bristol Police Sargent Dustin DeMonte and officer Alex Hamzy, who were allegedly ambushed from behind.
The Office of the Inspector General said that based on preliminary evidence Iurato was justified in killing 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher, who fired over 80 shots at the officers.

The cop that egged him on kind of had a part in all of it. Why try to get under the skin of a drunkard who has just been in a scuffle.
dude was a ticking time bomb anyways, he was talking about fleeing the traffic stop and was being aggressive before the officer began acting unprofessionally, so it might be unfair to blame the officer. He was getting into stupid drunken bar fights that already means he needs to have his guns taken away. During the traffic stop he had actually asked for one of the officers he ended up murdering.

@tylerbyrd9352 The unprofessional officer's behavior had a very large part in what happened, it's listed in the inspector generals report as one of the aggravating factors. The inspector general would know, he spent a year studying the life of Nicholas Brutcher.

That one cop did NOTHING to de escalate the situation in the beginning , in fact he engaged in talking shit with the guy further adding fuel to the fire that ultimately ended with three people dead including the gunman . The guy was an obnoxious drunk bully that got what was coming to him , but maybe had the cops CHOSE NOT to escalate the verbal altercation with him and just let him run his mouth until he got tired of it and walked home , he wouldn’t have done what he did later.

Nick & his brother should have been arrested that night. Bristol Police gave them a break & now lost 2 Officers. If not for Officer Alec Iurato this could have been so much worse.

Okay good shot ya know but not 1 in a million a 30 yard shot isn’t hard but under his circumstance’s and duress he made it more difficult.
No mention on the news of the cop antagonizing the guy earlier in the night, and assaulted him, pushing him to the ground. I know it does not justify his actions, but definitely gives some insight as to why he opened fire. Why does the news only report the facts they want you to hear, instead of all the facts.

That wasn't the inspector general, it was some retired police chief talking about how good the shot was, and it was an amazing shot.
