Need to clarify. The Pastels are a great band. The Past-tells are a super oldies band from New York. There is no correlation or competition between these two great groups.
Blimey haven't heard this in about 30 years, sounds to me now like a mix of the Buzzcocks, Primal Scream and The Smiths? Also sounds far less alternative today than it did ack then?

Genres aren't like tags. They are like signposts. I don't understand why people get so pissed off about genre. It's just a way of describing the sound of the band to newcomers. I think "Twee" describes The Pastels pretty damn well too!
