It was a team effort. For an individual award, focusing on individual performance only, Ronaldo deserved it.

This was a well deserved win by Ronaldo, and i truly think that this is also a good push for Lionel. Now that Ronaldo has won the Ballon D'or for 2013, Messi now has that "push" to do better in 2014. Ribéry beat Ronaldo in most stats for 2013. Ronaldo scored a lot more goals, but Ribéry played a different role than Ronaldo, and he performed better than Ronaldo.
For example, look at the UCL semi-finals 1st leg in 2013.... Ronaldo scored while Ribéry had 0 goals, yet Ribéry had the better performance.
