Really cheap efficiency way for Maddie's hair rub coconut oil on it everyday and that'll help moisturize her pelt and it'll help to grow some new sprouts for her hair it's something in her diet
Better to feed the cow than feed her hair. Whatever she needs, needs to be added to her feed.
You probably know this already, but cow fertility can be affected by Selenium deficiency. Although a sufficient amount may already be in the minerals you are providing, it may be worth a test if she does not take this next time. The Homesteady folks have a few videos where they had fertility issues and what they discovered, may be helpful.

@@morethanfarmers I have a question. Do you put the milk container on a brick or stand or something. That seems to be a lot of weight on her utters if you just let it hang.
Never mind. I saw how you have the sling adjusted so there is not weight on udders.

Hi Codi, great video about getting your morning farm chores done efficiently. If Maddie has a lot of milk do you ever run into and issue where that canister on the milker is not large enough to hold it all at once? Hopefully it has an alarm or shuts off if it gets overfull. Also, the eggs that land on the floor of the chicken house do the chickens lay them there or do they fall from the nesting boxes? I appreciate all the time and energy you put into creating these videos and the helpful hints and information you supply. Hoping this round of AI with Maddie is successful, best wishes.
Hey Ben! If the milker gets too full it would start going through the air hose 😬 it holds 5 gallons though. I’ve never had it get too full. The chickens lay those eggs on the floor. Not sure why. Super annoying!

@More Than Farmers I clearly missed that on the video! Oops! Now what was that brush you used that you turned like a hand crank? I've never seen that! Looks like a good tool to get in shorter hoses without getting stuck? Hmm.
What about the hose you hung up in the barn? Do you have to clean it or maybe that’s just a vacuum hose.
I clean it every now and then but no milk actually goes through it! Only air.

This is probably a dumb question but why do you strain the milk? I see everyone on homestead shows doing that and I wonder what they’re straining out. City girl (wannabe farm girl) here . 😂
Great question:) We strain our milk just to make sure there are no pieces of straw or little hairs or a stray gnat or anything in it. It's just a good cleanliness practice:)
How about rather than do the prep work of your milker and all the other odds and ends before you leave the house to do your milking. Seems like that would make a hugh difference in getting your morning work done before you go to work.

What happens with the floor eggs? Are they still good? And why are they on the ground to begin with? Are the chickens kicking them out?
Floor eggs can absolutely be good. We check for floor eggs every day. If an egg looks really dirty or if its buried, it could have been there for awhile. There are things you can do like floating the egg in water to see if its still fresh. As for why the chickens lay them on the ground, it's not because they are kicking them out or that anything is wrong with the egg itself. It more likely has to do with the amount of nesting space that the chickens have. Are there enough nest boxes etc. Also, young layers that are just learning the ropes will sometimes take a bit of time to figure out that they should use a nest.
@@morethanfarmers I was surprised you did not gather the eggs to prevent freezing. Must stay warm in there. I must gather twice a day in dead of winter or I have frozen eggs. I meant to mention in another video where the eggs were being washed - I bought an egg washer from ""The Little Egg Scrubber" and it has been a huge time saver - I can do 150 eggs in about 10 minutes or so, not including soaking time.
