I don't see the need of any department to meddle on what appliances taxpayers buy or not. If we need a stove, a heater or what not, we'll probably buy the most efficient, durable, and the one that we can afford! I'd like to point out that the amount added to the national debt under Trump is virtually identical to the amount of wealth the elite 0.5% of Americans accumulated in additional wealth during the same period due to Trump's 2017 Tax cuts.

The commies aren't here to argue or philosophize, they're here to take everything you have and put you to work for them, either in the workforce or in the gulags. Also, equity is actual communism, so you have to be careful. It sounds good on the surface for a second maybe, but it's actual nonsense. The world is filled with people that really, really care about mountains of stuff I don't care about, and vice-versa: the world is filled with me caring the strange stuff I care about, and we need each other, because even though I don't care about x, y, and z, someone has to. I'm surrounded by important things I have no interest in. Why would I be good at working in any of those fields, or on any of those questions, that I don't care about? How would I ever gain skill in the area? Kids used to be famous for throwing baseball stats at you because they wanted those baseball cards and they wanted to read them. You get good -- genuinely, amazingly, miraculously, good -- at things you're interested in. And you might even have some actual genetic predisposition towards some area as well. We need that. We need all of that. And to "make those outcomes equal," we can only take away the good. Equal musicianship. Equal poetry. Equal engineering.

My wife's new dishwasher has to be run twice because it doesn't clean the dishes. They claim it uses little water and half the energy. But you run it 2 or 3 times to get one cleaning. FJB.

@@user-fm6bw7rq4w Yeah...the dollar is the running cost, not the cost to replace. Plus I think someone else said it, but that savings is based on today's electricity prices. I'll take a wild stab in the dark and suggest that cost will probably rise in the ten years + you own said new fan. I think the gas stove savings was worse or even wrong. They didn't take in to account that "cooking with gas" means you can generally cook faster. An example being boiling water. It takes several minutes more for a pan to heat a set amount of water (can't remember if they used a gallon, pint, quart, etc.) using electricity than it does gas. So which time did they use in their estimates??

Looking at Jennifer Mulhern Granholm's bio, it appears she has never been in the energy business, or any business for that matter. But Granholm seems to love Government deficit spending (look at her Michigan Governor reign).

This is my first time listening to Ms.Bice, and she's one smart cookie! I like her. They're asking for more money bc she doesn't it and now she needs more!
Don't forget their proposals are also based on current electricity costs, while other Departments in the government are passing separate regulations that will raise the cost of electricity production. They don't take the potential rise in energy costs into account with their formula. It's either they are so inept they should all be fired, or they're intentionally lying.

But my point remains, we're being punished for being smart consumers and wanting things that last and do the job they're supposed to do. New washers use less water, take longer, and do a crummy job. Dishwashers are just as bad too. They don't even make them with choppers anymore. Total crap. I can't buy what I want new.....it's not possible. They no longer produce products I want to buy. Looks like ceiling fans are next? Ah yes my super high voltage ceiling fan. 🙄🙄🙄 these crappy appliances just end up in landfills. We had to have our AC unit, water heater, and dishwasher all replaced in pretty rapid succession recently. I’ve lived in my house for almost 23 years and they were all here when I moved in (I got married 2 years later). When the AC unit was replaced (with a good brand, BTW), one of the installers said “Yeah, this one won’t last you 23 years like your old one. It’ll last about 10 or 12.” When the water heater was installed, “Yeah, this one won’t last you 23 years. It’ll last about 10 or 12.” When the dishwasher was installed…do I really need to say it???!!! You guessed it. He.said.the.same.thing. I know manufacturers are sometimes guilty of planned obsolescence, but you can’t tell me these environmental regulations aren’t a part of this.
