      Oh that's awesome! I really do think that a lot of this is the overhang from Repentless so now that this is out of Kerry's system we might be seeing even more creativity - even if not, it's a sold record! thanks for checking out the video!

    Agree with this mate. It’s a solid album without ever threatening to be spectacular. I think Demmel and Osegueda are the best things here. There are some moments of variety but nothing completely unexpected. Been listening to it for a while now and published my review last week. I’m glad I’ve heard it but it’s never going to threaten the classics. Will be interesting to see how much involvement the rest of the band have in the writing of the second album.

      Definitely agree that Demmel and Osegueda are some of the shining moments here. I think that's the thing, is that there was an overstay of Slayer material so King probably just wanted to get this out there and perhaps we might see some more evolution in the next solo record but I have ever faith in the band for sure!

    The most fair review yet. I don’t know what people were expecting.

      Thanks ever so much! I think that considering what it is and the fact that I have been wanting to hear what Slayer 2.0 might sound like this is a great start. I really do think that once the whole Repentless stuff is out there then we'll see some more experimentation come through from King but in all honesty, he probably just wanted to get these tracks out there! Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you enjoyed it!

      @TheMetalTris  Před 2 měsíci

      Oh hell yeah! That will be awesome, is Lamb of God headlining? I would have imagined that he would've been if it were Slayer but with the fact of it being a new band the roles might have been reversed? Either way I look forward to hearing how these songs sound in a live setting!

    I've never been the biggest Slayer fan (sacrilege I know). I will say that I enjoy the groove I'm hearing in the samples, but I feel lukewarm to this album just as I did with Deicide. I want to shout out the album To All trains from Shellac. Such an incredible swansong for the late, great Steve Albini. Tris, I'm also hoping you're doing a Gatecreeper review!
    Cheers!

      Hahaha nah man, I know that there are a lot of people that aren't Slayer fans. Personally for me I've enjoyed the classics / Seasons / South / Reign and some of the later work but really need to dive into the earlier material. I'll definitely give Shellac a listen, I know of their influence but I've not actually really ever listened to them before. I'm currently editing it and hope to have it up asap!

    Good review. I like the wnergy of the album. Some really energetic songs with some ok ones. Id call it the best Slayer album since GHUA

    • @TheMetalTris
      @TheMetalTris  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I know what you mean, I think that this is definitely going to have that kind of overhang of Slayer because King said himself that there are some riffs that were written during the times of Repentless that he wanted to include on there. Now that there's a fully fledged band though I think that it will be interesting to see where he goes from here for sure but as someone that really is happy with hearing new Slayer I'm pretty stoked!

    So I’m the kind of guy who listens to metal but has no idea who plays in these bands. So I am listening to this album and I’m thinking, man, the vocals sound exactly like the vocals in Slayer’s Diabolus in Musica. Sure enough when I look it up, Kerry King is a member of Slayer. But what’s weird is that he wasn’t the vocalist on that album. But the voice is very similar.

      Yeah man, I agree too. Not quite spectacular but exactly what a fan of Slayer / Kerry would want and that's totally fine. I think that once there's that overhang of Repentless that is gone we might hear some more inventive playing etc... but even if we don't this is still real good fun!

      @TheMetalTris  Před 2 měsíci

      Exactly but having said that I do think that Kerry probably just wanted to get these songs out there. Maybe it was the hangover from Slayer and now that's happened in the next record there might be more experimentation and growth on that side of things. Still though, it's a sold Thrash record!

    • @TheMetalTris
      @TheMetalTris  Před 2 měsíci

      Hey there fair enough! I wouldn't quite say that a phoenix from the ashes is a big call - more just a generic kind of imagery really. It's an interesting one for sure and I am really looking forward to what the next record will sound like but for now, I'm happy with this!

    what is so solid about this album ? the production ? because the music is sooo generic flat and boooring...listening to this feels like a hard day of work on a hot summers day.

    • @TheMetalTris
      @TheMetalTris  Před 2 měsíci +1

      That's a fair point and if you're not a fan then that's totally OK too! I remember hearing Idle Hands and I was really stoked and excited for this record to come out. I think if anything I am really excited to hear that the next record sounds like now that the shadow of Slayer / Relentless will be kind of more of a memory and we might really start to hear some experimentation to bring this into a new sound. That being said though King has always been a chief songwriter in Slayer right so this is still very much him! It's a solid record that I'll definitely be spinning more than a few more times before the year is out!
