    Anything less than 700,000 naira is not acceptable. No politiians should earn more than multipliers of 5 of what a standard minimum wage is in a country. Except they will drop their salaries to highest 300,000 Naira, that is the only way this can be acceptable.

    You guys should come down to 105,000 Naira. Inflation is 33%. Price of most goods are now 3.5 time what they were before. So, salary should also be 3.5 times what it was which is 30*3.5 = 105,000 Naira.

    @EdiTheDon Před 25 dny +3

    Living wage and minimum wage are not the same thing. Increase the minimum wage and you will increase inflation. The same people who want the increase will increase the cost of goods and services, making the wage increase of no import.
    Instead, strengthen the Naira by reducing cost of doing business and incessant taxes by different stages of government. And reduce the cost of government by kicking out the dross and making it more efficient. It is not the government's business to be in business.

    The organized labor in Nigeria seems not to understand of salaries are determined. The guest citing the cost of a bag of rice as consideration for the salaries of workers is a joke because not every worker eat rice as stable food item and neither is the cost of the bag of rice the same all over the country. The organized labor should have known that when they asked for N615,000.00 per month they were not going to get anything close to that. The Government has offered what they think they can afford as a starting point and it is up to Labor to come back with what they can accept below the original request, that is how to negotiate and not walking away from the negotiating table. So far some state government are committing to what they think they can afford as minimum wage and Labor on the national level must not ignore what they governors are offering as they negotiate with the Federal Government. Otherwise, they could end up with a minimum wage that will be completely unaffordable in some states. Threat of a complete shut down by labor is not the answer as such situation will only worsen the situation in the country. In developed nations, members of unions get paid a percentage of their income by the union while on strike and doubt if the organized labor in Nigeria has such provision in place. The government understand that what is going in the country today is not going to continue for ever, therefore you solution for any problem now may not be the same when things are going on well in the country. Going by the example that the guest is giving about rice, what if the price of rice drastically drop in the next few months will the organized labor call for readjustment of salary?
