    Great video. doing this project very soon on my 2017. I think I have the same kit. FYI the hex head bolts that come with the kit are intended to be threaded in from the bottom of the spacer (should be an over sized hole to countersink them).

    • @frphilia
      @frphilia Před 6 lety +1

      Just got the same kit for my 2016...wondered why he thought the supplied bolts had to be threaded from the top. They thread fom the bottom and the heads go into holes recessed in the block, and become the studs.

    Not to be a hater, but I Would Not follow this as an example to install this lift. Way to many discrepancies with this installation. No Jack Stands, All-thread instead of included hardware (What is stopping the All thread from unthreading from the spacer), No torque wrench (Torque specs are there for a reason, not a calibrated elbow), Your working on the steering and suspension components of the truck! Please do not follow this example installation...

    • @josephgodvin9456
      @josephgodvin9456 Před 4 lety

      All thread should be sufficient Grade 5, not too much stress on the studs with the pressure of the spring against the body.

  • @jahnfilthe
    @jahnfilthe Před 2 lety +1

    I like this guy's ingenuity, but I don't think they make Grade 8 all-thread (or any grade all-thread). Don't think I would trust that. All-thread is typically pretty weak grade steel, with the amount of vibration in the suspension, I bet these break. Maybe just get a kit with good bolts that work correctly.

  • @cattledog5464
    @cattledog5464 Před 7 lety +6

      My wife and I did this with the two and a half inch spacer and it took about two and a half hours and we kind of took our time a lot of the time was spent getting jack stands and everything I could find under the truck so if it fails it wouldn't hit the floor you have to be careful you can't just jump up and down on that bar he used you could tear the boot on the axle not very good bit video when you take the tires and wheels off lay them under the frame just in case jack stand fail

  • @jamesdaniels3866
    @jamesdaniels3866 Před 6 lety

    Since the new bolts are in a different position going thru the strut mount at the top, the shock is twisted at the bottom where it mounts to the lower arm. Didn't you have to twist the shock around to line up the holes? If so, how? My shocks are bilstein 5100 and I can't get them to twist inside the spring. Am I missing the trick to this?

    Why cant you just leave everything in place and just use a spring compressor to lower the top of the entire strut and just sneak the spacer on top ? You woudlnt have to remove anything else from the truck ! ??

    • @jwhitco83
      @jwhitco83 Před 6 lety +1

      a spring compressor will only compress the spring. you'd still have to compress the strut too and get it compressed enough to bolt on the spacer. sounds like a ton of unnecessary work compared to roughly 20-30 mins of just unbolting the control arms, caliper and ball joints.
