As a Californian I've seen my state and its cities become toothless in prosecuting crime. Can't have nice things in a lawless or broken society. Also the state involved in any number of frivolous or impracticable spending schemes, while basic fundamental programs and upkeep for existing infrastructure get practically ignored.
How is it toothless when the prisons are full? So many prisoners not enough prisons gotta build more. Prison business is booming, so your comment doesn't make sense.
As a former longtime California resident I moved the hell out of the state because I come to realize it's not going to get any better hopefully it will get a nice large quake and put it out of its misery
You can't keep blaming Caltrans for what the thieves do. It's impossible to catch up. The thieves will break open the covers, usually between two points, cut the wires, then yank it all out to sell it. Recycling and salvage centers are also to blame. When homeless dudes come in every so often with a ton of wire, they buy it. Where do they think they got it from? It's a nationwide problem. Payment for scrap should be delayed a month, where the sellers need to provide ID where everything is recorded in a federal database.
another reason to increase the penalty for steeling ,,send these crooks to prison for a long time,,that would send a message that people arent going to get away with these kind of crimes
Yes! I was driving all last week, late at night & it was so unsafe, you couldn’t see the lines in the lanes & cars chasing each other at high speeds & many cars without working tail lights. So scary & stressful to drive home from Pasadena & LA 5 nights in a row 🙁
The salvage yards should only give a check that has a 10 day hold on it. The sellers need to have a federal number recording all sales and where the scrap came from. They should photograph everyone who they do buisness with.
