Watched the movie with my younger cousins. They couldn't understand why a big tall full grown man was crying his eye's out. It's such a good story.

@@goblin4164 I can't speak for Patrick but not neccesarily, even teenagers and young adults, who whilst otherwise are almost entirely developed just haven't been around long enough to experience enough human relationships for the subtleties in a well presented fiction to resonate in quite the same way.
That's not to say teenagers are incapable of appreciating a well presented relationship of course, but I think we continually acquire a greater understanding, and therefore appreciation, of realisitic, relatable nuance, so I'm never really surprised when an older person is more moved by something than a younger person - even if it was a 40 year old and 60 year old.
I think emotional intelligence is something that we constantly develop throughout our lives and never really stop until aging itself starts to get in the way.

my number 4 movie ever. It hit hard for me having deaf people in my life and learning it for four years. Bullying and depression too. Honestly a masterpiece.

Watched the movie when I was younger, didn't manage to appreciate it too much back then. Rewatched it this year, cried because this is really good and I finally understand what the story is all about 😭
It was recommended to me on CZcams 1 day and fortunately I clicked! Such a well written, beautiful and tragic story. It made me tear up 😥

@Stevesouas Manga is a Japanese comic, it's right to left because that's the way Japanese is read. If it was printed left to right for whatever reason it would still be manga

This is my absolute favorite manga. Bought out the manga and have watched the movie soooo many times. Really hits home. There is so much emotion behind each action and so much going on in each person's mind.

Dude this is so good uncle E reads a good one he is so cultured this series is so good and the movie was one of the first to really make me emotional since I can sort of relate to the main character on the part of feeling alone.

Top 3 manga that I've read. Really glad you recommended it in one of your previous manga videos because I wasn't sure if I'd get into it but after your recommendation I bought the box set and its now one of my favorites. Looking forward to the deluxe editions of it coming out.

Fun facts, when I first saw this movie online, i cried within the first 5 min (having dealt with suicidal depression myself) and is the only movie to have me cry not just once but 3 times. When I went to Japan and saw it on the shelf at an HMV, I grabbed it immediately, and it proudly sits in my collection. It also helped me learn a bit of JSL to compliment my small vocabulary of ASL.
I love this story, and while I am sad for a few of the things the movie left out, I understand why the film-making subplot was removed.
This was my favourite manga when I read it, it brings back memories of when I first read it.

I didn’t realize there was a manga but wooooooo boy this movie has made me cry almost everytime i watch it. it truly is a great story.
One of my favorite book series which resulted in my favorite movie. It's a masterpiece of storytelling.
A moment ER didn't mention was about half way through the last book, during the graduation celebration, Shoya removes all the Xs from everyone's faces, and looks at everyone in the eyes for the first time, and cries. Most of you might know that that is where the movie ends, but it's one of the greatest moments in any story I've ever read.
