This is so helpful. I know I'm very creative but the part of me that sabotages my progress has really been on a roll lately and this helps me acknowledge that it is a part of me, allow that part of me to exist and do what I need to do anyway. So helpful

I've never thought of myself as creative. A huge part of that is my perceived barriers of entry into traditional creative pursuits. I feel like I can't even begin to be creative until I've put in hundreds of hours of training. That being said, I've learned that I am creative in some other things. I got into a game called Valheim last year that had intricate building systems and I spent many hours building detailed structures. I really enjoyed playing around with the various tools and making my designs beautiful and functional. It was a very eye-opening experience and allowed me to tap into a part of myself that's been stifled for a long time.

Thanks for the reminder to let myself suck at something but still enjoy it!

Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed by my own personality, I look up eriks infp videos to uplift me! Eriks approach is so confident building and kind!

Didn't know you had an INFP channel, or a new channel. Love your personality and content. Thanks for sharing! 🤍🤍🤍

I haven't watched yet but based on the title alone... ya I totally gaslight my self, tell myself I suck creatively. That I should be further ahead so on. Which is true. Though when I say make a song my wife is always blown away or when I write something. So hard to keep at it, the barriers I have created. I wish I could just put out and stop the self censorship.

I write, paint, and even recommend things to customers in our family store, but when ask if I'm creative... I'm not sure. People say I am, but I don't think I'm creative enough to warrant to be called "creative". A friend of mine told me it's the impostor syndrome kicking in, for INFPs tend to have that.

I have recently realized this for myself. Great to hear because I tend to have a lot of self doubt, which caused me to avoid creativity, but in reality I crave creativity.

The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. - Kurt Vonnegut

I do see myself - actually feel myself as creative, I feel like also having a need to express my creativity, but I have not found my domain, my medium where I am suppose to express my creativity and in which I have talent.

I would say to anyone who does some kind of art, if your stuff make but one person feel smth, make but one person get some kind of positive thing out of it, then you have succeeded cause that's what any kind of art is for anyway. It's perfectly ok to just do it for yourself too, but if you have any kind of desire to share it with people, please do. I know it can be scary and we have the imposter syndrome and all that, but once you get over that threshold it's not so scary anymore. Just ask yourself, how is this poem or this drawing or whatever it is gonna make anyone feel anything if it just stays in my drawer?

Hey, I'm a pro artist. I never would've gotten here if I listened to the part of myself that told me I couldn't. I've known a lot of people who have given up because they compare themselves to others too much and get disillusioned with the craft. Do it for yourself, and you will never be disappointed. And if you want to be a pro, you can if you have the ambition to practice hard, no matter your age. The internet is full of great learning resources these days. Just remember that it won't pay well lol

Rad vid! 💖 Really good point at the end, there. I still struggle to understand how I myself am creative (because I believe everyone truly is), so, this will give me some momentum towards writing - just for fun.

Don't compare yourself too much to other people! There's elites in every category, but you're a runner if you run, you don't have to run as fast as Usain Bolt!
