#SteamDeck #EmuDeck #etaprime - Hry
Steam Deck is the all-in-one handheld device we have ALL been waiting for.
exactly and i just cant wait for mine, hope it will be avaiable for purchase this month
this is spectacular. I wanted a solution like this because I want to keep SteamOS and see how it develops but a nice clean way to find my roms. I intend on using my deck 50/50 for emulation and PC gaming
Pretty much as I did for the VCS (which he had a GREAT tutorial on). I've been using Proton like crazy ahead of the Steam deck and getting comfy with Linux (ubuntu - KDE looks much nicer (in spite of me installing Espresso to keep my UI muscle memory with Ubuntu happy) - although I'll make the Steam - desktop Linux AND Windows both to max the compatibility with games, music library and productivity apps (Affinity). Can't wait to upgrade 2x the cores and 2X the threads from the VCS.
It's funny - so many people pooh-pooh'ed the VCS - I just wanted a mini PC to get off the Mac and prep me for the Steam Deck - it's performed great, in fact, I'm typing on it right now. Probably the only downside is getting 2TB of legacy data onto an SSD from a 10 year old mac mini - and having to buy windows. BTW - should I get 10 or 11? I'm getting all manner of conflicting opinions on that so I'd love to hear who has done Windows on their own Steam Deck from an SD card and which ver they're using (I haven't looked at it much until I heard drivers finally got 'caught-up' to the platform).
The Steam Deck is the first UMPC I got interested in since the OQO - over 18 years ago.
That was my intention but my Steam Deck isn't playing ball.
Same here ☺️
Little tip for people not used to the Dolphin file manager. Instead of openening two windows side by side. You can just click on "split" in the menubar, which will open up a second pane. And then you can switch between them and easily copy/move stuff between different directories.
ETA should pin this
Where do I find the downloaded files? Like control panel uninstall program in windows
It just shows the same thing on both sides of the split for me
@@RealziesCuts yeah, and then you can navigate to a different directory in each window separately.
I literally just commented on your last EmulationStation video about EMU Deck and how I was having issues. Thank you for this vid, will try again to see if I can sort it out!
Thank you for this! This is absolutely amazing. Haven't gotten my Deck yet but this will be the first thing I do once it arrives. So excited.
This thing just gets more and more awesome every couple of days
Great video with great amount of information about each step. I was never into emulation but I think it’s time to get into it.
This looks absolutely amazing. I think this will be exactly the route I'll be going. Thanks for the tutorial!
Amazing! I can't wait to get my hands on it!
This is the only device I’ll need for years to come, love that they made it so easy to install emudeck…now I’m just waiting on my turn to get a steam deck
To answer your question from the previous video, I want mine to do everything. I want the Steam OS frontend and the EMU Deck you showcased looks amazing. I want the desktop mode, I want to dual boot into Windows, all of it. I love tinkering with this stuff.
This is life changing, playing crisis core on the steam deck is a tsunami of nostalgia. Thanks for the simple tutorial!
Steam Deck is AWESOME
can't wait to get mine!
Great Video Love the Community around the deck
I was looking for a guide to getting EmuDeck and saw your name. I knew I could trust the info and quality of your videos, thanks man!
I am so impressed with this thing. Unfortunately have to wait until Q3 for my preorder, but I can't wait. And I really like this as an option for running retro games. I love Batocera, but having everything integrated within steam OS is pretty appealing to me.
I hope yours has arrived by now, mine just came yesterday :)
Im waiting for q4 orders
I just love how your network is named "The LAN before Time". really cool.
Made me chuckle. Mine is "Dr Ticklebums Tickle Palace." Lot of unmarked vans sitting by my house since I made it though. Dunno why 🤔
This is already looking amazing. Looking forward to get my own Steam deck after Q3 😃
Oh man! I cannot wait for my steam deck!👍
That was amazing. This will do the help.
Awesome video, thank you!
I absolutely love my Steam Deck, I honestly am so pleased with everything about it, 15 out of 10.
the reason I ordered a steam deck is for emulation (and witcher 3 of course) :)). This is looking so awesome.... all we need now is a fully working batocera and dual boot :) :).
great video as always, thanks :)
I'm salute for u eta... Always update to u video 👍🙏👍👍👍
amazing cant wait to install it on my steam deck that comes this week :D
This actually makes my games work and not crash thanks for this some of them anyways
I always ask my self what console next glad I pre ordered this one 🔥🔥
@ETAPRIME you rock!!! 🤘🏻
Man rips out content, hella appreciated
hey man ive seen you for YEARS, congrats on the 1 million subs, :D
Thanks for the video - I had no idea where to put the roms and so the generate list thing was confusing me!
Can't wait. I mostly ordered my Steam Deck as a handheld emulator.
that was my thought Day one can't wait for all the old Nintendo games the PSP and so on
I can't wait for the next available time to buy these. Gonna have a field day with this.
Awesome bro thanks 🤘
I'm like 5 to 10 minutes in with this video and you gave me a great idea especially with using my hard drive for my games.
I've already downloaded emudeck last week so I'm definitely going to download that artwork thing
Great clean content man, ez sub. Keep up the good work
Daaaaaang i cant wait for mine! Still on track for Q2
Nice work again!! Been following for a while now and I'm messing around with the Deck same as you!! EMUDeck is perfect in a lot of ways!! But, I'm still figgering out Chiaki for PS4/PS5 Remote Play.. I've got everything setup, but still some issues with remote 'waking' my PS4 PRO and I can't find my PS-Button anywhere. To wrap it up, I would love to see a PS Remote Play video!! Keep up the good work!! Untill the next!!
Very nice video.
Where duo you find all bios and roms ?
Important note: Make sure to format your SD card with the steam deck. In game mode, click the steam button, go to settings and format your SD card there.
Another note, for the artwork uploads, you can click the 'select type' drop down list and upload images to Grid, poster AND icons. This will make your lists more beautiful overall.
Very helpful, thank you.
To keep tips grouped:
Just a note so people don't become confused. There is no longer separate downloads. You pick local or SD during installation. There is only one download button on the website.
@@SeraphX2 Thankkkkkk youuuuuu!
I'm not doing that again. It bricked 2 of my SD cards.
@@writerb5001 how so.. When you suppose to
My boy out there pumping out content like no one business. Gotta keep up with the grind
😂
I'm convinced that ETA Prime is a set of Triplets!
OMG I'm getting my deck soon🎉🎉🎉
I’m looking forward to doing this on My Steam Deck soon.
Your guides are always spot on for me!
@5:45 dolphin supports a split panel view of your folders etc, you can access it by press f3, no need to open two different windows :)
I could see Wii emulation with the trackpads as the Wiimote working pretty good
Probably depends on the game. There are some where you need to rotate the wii controller and stuff, but the steam deck already has some motion controls.
On KDE in the Dolphin file manager, try clicking "Split" on the upper right corner or F3.
And alt/super drag as well
That Xbox cloud gaming video ya made for steam deck, you may want to check for the update. They make you unlock your os's file system for installing it previously and steam will overwrite it with updates and possibly cause some os corruption. Just thought its worth a mention.
Thanks for the video. Have you ever tried booting on RecalBox (which uses Emulation station) ?
Might need some configuration for the screen orientation but other than that my guess is it should work pretty fine.
I don't know if Steam Deck bios allows booting from an external device though so as to do that easily through a dedicated sdcard and preserve internal OS.
its amazing the number of things that the steam deck can do with this price not only playing pc games on a handheld but also emulating games of other consoles on very good fps shout out for valve
I'm planning on using mine to run Ableton live and do a hardware music live set with it. She's a beast
Just got my Steam deck can't wait to play Eternal Darkness on it
Did this a few days ago… best … thing…. Ever !
Love this tutorial. You sir won my sub with this. Super helpful and easy for dummies like me who recently started into the emulation world.
Btw, where did you get all of those "1-file-only ROMs" and so many BIOs??? All the webs I found are crap or have multi-file ROMs... Thanks a lot!!!
Same,I really need those Bios
Thanks for the guide! We are neighbors too!
that is sick.
CLEAN DECK
This guide is already out-of-date. EmuDeck has updated the steps in their installation guide and now it's even easier than before.
(This is not a criticism of ETA Prime at all. It's just that I'm following his tutorial and finding that there are many steps I can now skip because of the changes.)
Where is their documentation at?
Awesome devices!
Fantastic
When I do get a Steam Deck will be doing this.
Do you still have to download the emulators first? Cause the website says you don't need that anymore at the 5 steps part, it's a bit confusing.
Thank you for the video, this is going to be super useful for trips without internet. I love those marvel vs capcom type of games too but I wonder if I could hook it up with the USB-hub with the logitech wired USB-A controller lying around and play two players mode on these games?
Man I can't wait to get one of these. My order got pushed to october 2022.
I'm so sorry bro. Getting mine next month
@@ricksmith4840 don't know for sure though
Me as well. I'm just going to buy one from a scalper on Ebay. Then, sell my other one when I get it in October. The holliday season should fetch me a great price.
@@brandon_nope true.
Amazing! But where can i find all those bios and rom?
Steam os does seem like a good option for a htpc now, i wonder how waydroid performs on it. Android tv applications for media consumption would be great
Yeah I'd love to see a Waydroid video. Hopefully ETA Prime does one soon.
would you mind doing a follow up video? I prefer you over most emulation based youtubers and there was apparently a MAJOR upgrade to emudeck
Not seeing the link mentioned in the description, just fyi. Thanks for the video!
hi where did you get the bios and cores from emulators? the ones that are on your external USB, thanks
Did you find anything?
Steam deck is awesome man. 0% drawbacks 100% benefits
Does that thumb drive need to be formatted a certain way to work on both? Having a hard time transferring files and new at this.
When you DL the art work you can click on a game art and there can be more than one choice or you can supply your own
If they make a Steam Deck pocket or lite, I'm totally buying it. Steam Deck is making me want to get back into PC Gaming
Hopefully i remember to find this vid in late 2023 when i finally get my pre orderd deck.
What's the best naming convention for the rom files?
For installing PS1 games, if I have .chd file format roms do I need to change the file extension to .CD1 .CD2 and generate a m3u file? Or is it enough to throw the .chd files into the PS1 folder in the SD card and emudeck figures it out?
hello how do you deal with multi discs games for gc and ps1? Do you make them show all disc separatly in steam rom manager and how do you switch disc during gameplay?
i cant wait
The usb drive, have you plugged that into a pc and just copied them over. Does the drive need to be formatted in a particular way for the steam deck to see the files
I understand everything except for the bio part. Where do I get the bio from before I transfer it to the steam deck?
Question:
Where do you get the games and bios that you put on the usb drive? Sorry new to this.
@@wesleyswafford2462 No just tell us it will be fine.
@@ChipChocolatePR Do what everyone has been doing for years and google it, it's not difficult to find whatsoever.
if I want to add a game later to emdeck to show up in steam do I just switch to desktop mode. put the rom in the right folder with stream closed and it should pop up?
@etaprime where do you download all the roms and BIOS's from?
When it comes to the emulators reading the rom files, do they need to be fully extracted? or can they be read from a compressed file format like .rar or .7z? Also, I am still kinda confused on how to get Switch Roms working. It's a little more involved isn't it?
If you figured it out let me know because Im confused as well
Current smartphones peak at Wii emulation and it's a nightmare because there will be titles that require mapping it to motion controls. Deck is the answer if you want a PS4 on the go. Many of the best PS3 games were ported onto PS4.
O____O
It looks great! Where can I get all those bios kit folder?
What did you plug the usb with bios into? Did you use a usbC hub? Which one?
Where did you go to download the emulators on your usb? Do you have a video on that already ?
What are the bios files for exactly? Are they just for certain emulators like the Playstation ones? When I run gameboy or dolphin emulators on my PC I never needed anything more than just the roms themselves to get playing.
There was no option to download emudeck sd card unfortunately. Has the setup changed?
It changed slightly instead of you downloading a separate one depending on the storage it'll now ask you after you download and run the launcher which storage you'd like it installed to
I just ordered a 512gb card to my steam deck, i really gotta get some ps2 games to play, ratchet and sly cooper and god of war games... i cant wait! my ps2 died years ago... the posibilities...
Great explanation … where can I buy the games? Specially the old ones lite Atari ?
What format is the usb stick in? Will the steam deck recognize a usb drive formatted in FAT32?
Can you not install the games from the steam deck like the retro ones you mentioned in this video? Or do you actually need a USB drive to transfer games to the folder????
U can install them with out a USB
Since the folders are setup the same as in Emulation Station, does it also read scraped data in the same way that Emulation Station does? I already have all the data scraped for my roms, that'd be great if I can just copy it over to the Deck.
Is your usb drive formatted to ext4 or NTFS? my PC cant transfer to ext4 drives
whats up brother love the video i was wondering if you can recommend a good site to download the roms from for my steam deck and how can i obtain the bios files ? i appreciate your help
What type of usb drive did you use? Does it have to be specific?
Is there a way to add unified bezels to the vertical mame games? It would be a nicer finish than having the black bars on the sides of the screen.
having issues with the games not being put in a collection so getting to my games are super hard to get to the game i want. how did you get the collection?
