    I think sedge is the best teacher of domino I’ve ever seen on CZcams. Thank you very much. Mine domino is on the way, bought it, despite the price of 1600 bucks here in my country ((

    Watched the video, bought the 500, just cranked out 10 drawers with Sedge’s technique. All are dead square and the sipo is a great contrast. Thank you to the whole training team and keep it coming!

    Hey Sedge - This is one of those tips or lesson learned things. I was making some. Drawer boxes with 12mm material. I was using the support bracket. Since there is no standard material thickness stop for 12mm here is what I did..
    1) Installed support bracket with the machine on a flat surface
    2) Based on the height scale while the machine was inverted on the flat surface I pushed the height adjustment to the lowest point and locked it.
    3) Since I was not planning on using the flaps, just the stops on the support bracket, I moved on
    4) Ended up with some alignment issues
    5) While you make a note to make sure the flaps are free moving you don’t say why - the reason is the support bracket stops NEED the flaps to hold them in alignment, i.e. the support bracket stops are really spacer from the flaps and the flaps are needed to insure consistent location and not allow movement.
    Thx again for the great videos - Bill

    You do a great job showing us the little tricks that make our work safer and more accurate. If somehow that energy and enthusiasm could jump through the computer and land in front of the jobs we’re doing that would be the ultimate. Thanks Sedge and team!

    I was making some shop drawers today with 3/4 ply. I assembled them with glue and pin nails. Then I plunged through the sides using #6 dominoes. I set my depth to 28mm. When you drive in the domino’s they will be proud. I cut them off with a trim saw. Easy and totally accurate.

    Super video! I am making drawers with dominos. I made pretty much every mistake Sedge warned about! Also, if you use the Domino to cut the notch for your Blum undermount drawer slides, his measurements only work if you are using the same thickness of drawer sides. Mine is a bit thicker, so I had to make my own measurements. Worked well!

    I know they have to upsell the cross-stops 27:10, but I just do the middle ones with a loose middle mortise in the fronts and backs, whilst keeping the sides tight. You only really need them for the sheer strength.

    Love the live element to show that mistakes happen to even pros like Sedge. Bottom was long because he forgot to subtract the thickness of the front and back (15mm x 2).

    • @wawoodman
      @wawoodman Před 3 lety

      For a bed or a full-sized door, you probably want the DF700. The 500 is better suited to smaller scale work.

    I wonder why domino machine has been robbed of the possibility of doing straight hole.
    Plenty of drillpress work could have been done by handy domino.
    Lots of possibilities is their

      That would be akin to dowelling machine and that has already been done by Mallfel, Frued and Triton. Europe is a very competitive marketplace and dowels only provide so much surface space vs a domino tenon more surface space. Each has their usage an special space. For panels domino makes more sense due to more gluing surface area.

    Can your drills and bits go through 1/4" & 1/2" plate aluminum?

    • @jwar2163
      @jwar2163 Před 3 lety

      The bits are designed for woodworking. If you're ok with replacing the Festool Domino bits I don't see why you could not use the Domino 500 and the new Domino connection system to join Aluminium, but then again there are much better methods for joints to connect aluminum such as 8020. And the fitting for 8020
