Avs fan here: honestly, we didn't expect our 2nd line to emerge that huge - Mittelstadt and Co. are throwing a wrench into Jets' works constantly. It seems to put your gameplan into disarray and gives tons of opportunities for the Avs' top line.
The series is not done by any means, but it already proved a lesson for the Jets. Believe me, if you happen to reach the SC Finals this, or some future season, I'll be rooting for you.

3rd line was amazing games one and two, 2nd line's been amazing games three and four. They put so much energy into trying to keep Nate quiet, but the Avs have had infinite ammo throughout the entire roster.
@@duncanmathers76 The energy the Jets have burned really got away from what made them so dangerous at cutting the ice in half. Just gave the Avs all the time and space they needed to carve.
Its true, u can't teach speed. Toffoli and Monahan were great adds, but hasn't add to Jets overall pace of play. Jets are one of the heaviest forechecking team and in the regular season, they did at will. I think the Avs adjustment was to gamble by over playing Morrissey and allowing the Jets to try to beat them up the ice with any other defense by a great pass or even to try to skate out with the puck. They know Morrissey if given time and space, he will allow that heavy forecheck to be an issue.

This was kind of a worst-case scenario I had in the back of my mind but I don't think I expected it to last 4 games. Winnipeg kinda galaxy-brained what worked against y'all earlier and screwed the pooch.
Yeah the Jets have had the Avs number for years it feels like. I remember losing to them in 21-22 and thinking "how can we win a stanley cup but we can't beat the jets?" But playoffs show you who you really are and the Avs are clearly the better team.

Harrison, you are right. One problem is theJets do not have a lot of speed or size. Colorado is not big but they sure are fast. The Jets will never go far unless they tank and draft superstars. The truth is Scheifele, our best forward, would be a second liner on a lot of teams. The Jets have no superstars and when they get to the playoffs, they get outclassed. It's just that simple. The coaching is a problem as well, but unless ownership is willing to tank to draft superstars, (instead of trying to just be mediocre every year), the Jets will never go really far.
I think this series would have been a bit different if the coaching staff also didn't actively sabotage all the talent the team does have. They just don't have a good feel for how this team works.

Hey guys, Avs fan here with my 2 cents (probably highly unwelcome). I think Jets are a great unit with a good coach, your regular season proves that and you spanked us three times. The problem is you don't have superstars, with the obvious exception of Bucky. There's no Matthews/McDavid/MacKinnon/Makars in Winnipeg, and it pretty much boils down to that - although there's argument to be made that Bowness doesn't have a plan B. When the playoffs come, you don't have the ammunition to compete with the elite teams. You need to make some big trades, or tank and draft well. This series isn't over yet so I'm not counting my chickens, but the truth is you can't hang with our skating and the truly great Connor Hellebuyck can't win a series like this by himself. Good luck the rest of the way (but not too much!), and make some good trades in the summer!
More truer words can't be said. Jets do not have size or speed, and you need at least one or both to win playoffs. The Avs don't have size, but they sure are fast. The truth is Scheifele, who is the Jets top forward, would be on Colorado's second line at most. The problem with the Jets organization, is that the owners are rich greedy businessmen who only care about money. They really don't care if the Jet's win the cup. To them the most important thing is keeping the arena full every night. So instead of tanking to draft good to rebuild the team, they would rather keep the team just good enough to squeak into the playoffs, to avoid fans losing interest unti lthey get good. Also they do not want to trade any future assets come playoff time for big stars to win now, because they need those future assets to keep the team mediocre enough to keep squeaking in the playoffs. If the Avs finish off the Jets I wish them well next round however, I can't see anyone in the west getting past the Golden Cheaters this year.

Big problem is the lack of efficient pick moving Dmen in the lineup. Avs are forechecking like crazy. Morrissey is the only one and schmidt to an extent. Avs are able to get pucks out their zone with their core

So the coach that allows no offensive creativity and only knows how to coach with a lead by using his outdated (1995) team defense isn't popular with his offensive players? Shocker.
I heard on another jets podcast that they didn’t do what the avs did and got walker from the flyers apparently they had there chance and blew it glad avs got him but this series ain’t over just yet I think jets show up in game 5.
I like Walker, but the Jets kind of got the budget version with him in Miller. Really crazy they aren't using him!
After numbers breakdown there’s a 22 percent swing for the Avs on the Pk AND the Pp. you can’t win like that.
Normally special teams play a less significant role in the playoffs but this series has been penalty central for the Jets haha.

I'm still a Winnipeg Jets fan regardless of what happens. Personally, I want our team to tank next season & make a run at drafting Michael Misa. Even if we don't get the 1st overall pick in 2025, I'd trade whatever I can (except Vilardi & McGroarty) to get Misa. He's a generational talent & I'd be willing to tank one season if it means we can get Michael Misa. Misa will sell tickets & win championships for us if we get him.
