My 10-yr old son LOVES Graf! He wore his first pair so long that the tendon strap was pulling apart! They were so comfortable for him, and he was heartbroken to have to change. We found another pair of Graf for him to grow into, but that's still a year off.

I grew up and as a young teen watching the nhl, Back then in the 80’s, I noticed most of the referrees were wearing Grafs, I figured that they practically live on skates that they were likely comfortable. My feet are wide, and once I started playing hockey, I bought a pair, I certainly didn’t go wrong, the most comfortable skates off the shelf I ever strapped on. Years later, when baking became more common, I baked them and they fit like the perfect sneaker. I wish I could afford Grafs now.

If, and when, GRAF creates a custom skate program, I'll be BACK IN GRAF skates. I skated GRAF for 20 years, and unfortunately, when they (Canada) folded, I moved on to TRUE (with Graf 5000 Holders). Now, I know how important it is for my skates to be sized to my feet 8.5 (left) and 9 (right). There's no coming back from skating in skates that fit BOTH feet properly.

Let me tell you, Thee BEST pair of skates I ever owned, PERIOD. I bought my 703 Supra Top Lite skates in 1995-96 on Long Island, New York. I converted my first pair into inlines. They had, brushed suede outers, and "Top Lite" in big beautiful gold lettering on the back. I put Labeda Pro Extreme Edge frames and MY GOD they were absolutely beautiful and the most comfortable boots I ever used. My 703's had white out souls. They were 500$ 2++ decades ago. The fact that they're still being made shows just how amazing these skates are.

I'm in the US and I have had 3 pairs of Graf skates. My first pair was used 703s they were awesome. I eventually got custom 705s that were actually too small, only skated on them 3 or 4 times. Now I have 9035s and they are so comfortable and light. I always wanted Graf skates because they were not Bauer or CCM. The only skates I wanted more were Daoust 555 golds but they were bought by Bauer when I got into hockey and couldn't get them anymore by the time I could afford them.

I love these pieces you are doing about the Graf skate.
I'm now in my early 40's and have kept the Graf 709's I've had since Jr. - while I've used everything moving to that two piece/single piece carbon boot in offerings from the old Easton S7s, Reebok 9k, Makos, Nexus 1K, Tacks AS1s... I've always kept the 709s around.
Graf skates IMO promoted purity in the skating with the natural flex from its more 'organic' materials, the pitch of the holder and its focus on fitment (703, 705, 709 for ogres like my feet) as well as the SIDAS footbeds being clearly the best - with many NHL pro's using them into the early 2010s.
Thinking about it, and granted I am older.. I felt more confident making the more stubtle and shifty movies with the 709s with less deliberate effort than I do with the modern skate. It was easier, more natural.
The issue IMO is that Graf (nor anyone else) could incorporate what they done in that 700 line into a carbon fiber boot. The advantages of the carbon fiber boot is clearly lightness and the directness of the energy. That comes at the sacrifice of comfort and I think more importantly, the flexion that true skaters prefer. With that said, switching to the latest in skates (AS/1) I am less fatigued over, able to accelerate quicker and can punch turn with more energy, which in turn helps an older fart like me, stay relevant with kids finishing their Jr. careers

I'm in the US and didn't start playing until I was 26. I based what I wore, since I had no history with anything, on what Jagr wore. So I got the 705s. I don't remember them being particularly comfortable, as this was long before heat molding or anything like that. I still have the skates, but there is no way I could play in them now without them killing my feet. That said, with no way to properly try a pair on at any of the local Pure shops, there is no way I am dropping roughly $940 guessing a size.

Picked up 2 new pairs of Graf 703’s off the sidelineswap site a couple years ago, one pair is the G703 Supra Top Light model and the other pair is a G703 LE SMU model. They’re absolutely the most comfortable, consistent and form fitting skates ever owned, key thing was to figure out the model best suited for your feet as Graf made a wide variety to suit different feet. One thing I’d love to know is what the background history was for the making of these 2 models of the G703’s. Aside from the insides (which use different material liners with one being black and the other green where both are completely bakeable) and the skate bottoms being of different colors (but otherwise seem the same), they look and feel almost identical so I’d like to know more about the reason for these 2 different G703 models which are both made in Canada.

And yes I still use my grafs the go to skate for me. My white grafs are not 703. But they feel the same. My grafs have some battle scars. But I keep them good. To me the graf 703 are the best skate. To me they just reel over other skates. My opinion. I have other skates but I grab my grafs. If I see a pair of 703 used. In my size. I will buy them. Expat living in Denmark--my Graf collection: 501 (early 90s version worn by Leetch and Fedorov), 701, 703, and 707. Used to have Canadian made G35X as well, but those were a painful imitation of the classic Grafs. They're all incredibly comfy, but the pairing of Graf boot fit and function on Cobra holders and 11' radius forward pitched steel is just a cloud 9 experience compared to other hockey skates past and present.

@calgary2800 toe caps to big, heat molded to feet, and overall feet just moving all over. Skates just don't mold to one's feet like the old grafs that I had to go back to from the 90's. My 90's 705's soles have slits/cracks running down the plastic, but still mold right to my foot. Also the 7900 had notches in the steel that created chattering stopping.
