    I have had this lift for 5 years now. Benefits are you roll it out of the box onto the floor and use it. Negatives are it is fairly high off the ground and catches on lower cars and the arms are too short. I have dropped out plenty of powertrains of front wheel drive cars with this. I have also used it for transmission removal on a few RWD cars being a little crafty. For the price I paid, I would buy another. BUT I am planning on upgrading. Just not sure what yet.

    I bought a Bendpak MD-6XP in Canada and I am very happy with it too. I changed the wiring in the box for 220Vac.
    I did some mods too!
    1) Also made some wooden ramps for lowered cars as mentioned above.
    2) Bought and fitted thicker wider flat washers (M22 or M24) under the nuts on the posts of the yellow sliding arms.
    3) Fitted a quick disconnect male and female connector, so the hydraulic hose can be removed/installed quickly with little or no leaks.
    4) Fitted free flow/flow restrictor on inlet so when a heavy car is on the lift, it is very controlled lowering it back down.
    5) Put spiral wrap protection around all the hydraulic hoses.
    6) Fitted 2 LED light strips in the frame work, so when a car is raised, there is lots of light underneath to work.
    7) painted lines on the centre locking bar, so you can see when you get to the 3 positions easily.
    8) Fitted over temperature relay to switch box.
    9) Wired in a Euro 3 pin 16A 220Vac industrial plug so the unit can be moved around but plug is industrial quality.
    I have also noticed that if you raise the lift to almost the first locking position, the roller dolley pin just fits under the frame tab and the unit is much easier to move around.
    Hope this helps any other potential buyers

      Do you mind if I ask where you bought your lift from? I ordered one from Babco in February and haven't received it yet. I was gonna cancel the order but I really want to see how long the "because covid" excuses can go on for.

    Awesome equipment not only for detail shops but for those individuals like myself who wants to keep wheels clean and detail. And any other DIY automotive projects that require lifting the vehicle. Also great for house garage where space is limited. Just leave it in place and drive over it. Love it!

    Sweet! I just ordered a MD-6XP yesterday, then ran across your video of it today. I've seen a few of your detailing videos before and liked them, but this is the one that prompted me to click Subscribe. I'm looking forward to seeing your future videos on this. Hopefully your assembly video will be up before mine arrives :)
    One advantage of the Bendpak over similar cheaper lifts is the arms reach out wider. I was considering buying something else but then measured the jack points on my '16 Civic and realized that the MD-6XP was one of the few that would be able to reach them.

    Amazing lifter better because you can move it around without the need of unnecessary bolting to the floor.

    I instantly wondered about safety features. Back in the mid to late 60s The lifts didn't really have any safety features. Someone would just jam a piece of well-casing up under the cross beam and hope that it didn't slip out of the way too fast so you had a chance to get clear.

    • @ChicagoAutoPros
      @ChicagoAutoPros  Před 3 lety

      This has a safety lock that will automatically engage and dis engage at 3 different levels.

  • @jonathanvillasenor6451

    I had that lift but it was to bulky and took too much room and longer cars feel unstable plus you need the ramps which take up a lot of room too. I swapped out to the twin Busch midrise lift, I believe bendpak makes one too. It’s a perfect size and you can drive most cars over it plus you can buy an attachment to make it portable. It’s perfect for detailing and ppf.

    One minute the dudes all rolling the Bendpac all around and says, "And yeah, that's what I love about it, it's mobile too!" Then...? Comes the "reality of it" where he shows himself (showing the durability/strengh of the unit) where he's trying to get the front lifted OFF THE GROUND, and showing the LACK of steering on that BIGAZZ heavy thing LOL..Mine IS A MONSTER to move for me (personally )Lol. Great video actually explaining "HOW the BENDPAK" works, NOT just showin off yer car "Yep, dere it IS". OR, as the instructions that it came with are a joke SMDH. (I HAD to lookup the installation HERE on the tube to even get it assembled/setup correctly!) But yeah, it IS BETTER TO SEE IN PERSON FOR DURABILITY, NO doubt. Rock On....

    • @mph5896
      @mph5896 Před rokem

      That is usually my problem. Car has to be 100% dead on, then you have to get it to catch somewhere. Arms need to be another 4 or so inches longer.

    Can you recess those into the concrete floor so it sits flush and avoid ramps?

    • @joshcosta423
      @joshcosta423 Před 3 lety

      I don't see why not. But if you're going to that length, buy a lift that's designed to be recessed. The ramps make this lift affordable. Recessing it would make it very expensive.

    well, this was an "OK" video but not one that i'll bet BendPak is excited about. for anyone watching, you can ignore the first two minutes and fifteen seconds of this video. NO ONE CARES about why this shop got this lift and certainly not about the "detailing business" these guys do. i guess if this guy wanted a commercial for his business using this BendPak lift as an excuse, that would make sense. the biggest question i have about this lift is how stable it is when it is all the way up with a car on it. i CANNOT believe this thing is safe and i for one NEED to be convinced that it is!
