Speaking as from a Catholic family for over 1000 years, I must say that all of this has been predicted many times, including by our beloved Jesus Christ Himself. The Church is going through its Passion. Would you even consider abandoning our Lord in His darkest hour? Stand with Him in full battle array! Never leave Him for a second. He needs our loyalty now more than ever. Viva Christo Rey!

As a convert myself (2009) I am glad I got to know some church ladies early on who told me this was coming (per apparitions of Our Lady and numerous seers worldwide). I am most appalled by good and holy priests who are afraid to just say, "This is wrong." Instead they twist themselves into pretzels trying to explain away heresy, apostasy, and pure evil in the Church. The cowardice is embarassing and a scandal. The jiggery pokery at the Vatican is old news. But woe to the shepherds who do not protect their sheep from it. I pray they repent before Our Lord returns and asks if there is any faith left at all. (Btw I was not Anglican, but I have gotten a few of those ha-ha-has. :( I pray for Cardinal Sarah's elevation. Yes, thank you Dr. Ashendon. I am a lifelong Catholic who now travels 100 miles (160km) each week to attend the Roman Catholic rite. Many Catholic bishops around the world reject such heterodox proposals as opposed to the Arian heresy when most of the then bishops accented to the heresy! It quite literally came down to just a couple bishops; St. Athanasius anyone? In the end, the Church emerged even stronger, almost like a sickness that sparks the “bodies” immune system. The Lord “knows what he is about” and providentially allows these unfortunate set of events. Fire fighters don’t run from fires, as Catholics we “do our duty” to fulfill our mission together in the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church. Victory has been won and Our Lord invites us to draw closer to this particular cross. The Lord has never and will never abandon his bride the Church. Ave Maria.

Thank you, Dr. Ashenden, for this excellent assessment. At middle age, teaching college courses in Western Civilization, I converted to Catholicism, despite the fumblings that had arisen out of VII. Then , in frustration over the punishment of faithful, holy priests who merely sought to defend the Truth of the faith, for a brief time I turned to the beauty and faithfulness of Orthodoxy. But I couldn't accept Orthodoxy's insistence that St. Thomas Aquinas et al were heretics as a result of the Great Schism. I soon returned to Rome, and here I shall stay. Jesus will not desert his Church, and we must stand firm in defense of the Faith. Yes, tough times ahead. Don't give up, Anne St. Peter was also leading those around him in confusion and scandal, as it says in Galatians. This was predicted the church is to go through its passion as Jesus went through His Passion, continue to say the Rosary continue going to confession when you need to and continue to receive The Body Blood Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist hold fast to these traditions as St. Paul would say. And we'll catch up on Heaven in the wise words of Padre Pio "Pray Hope and Don't worry." The church is supposed to go through this because only after going through this and having gone down to such a level that it is only Jesus Christ who can and will raise her up again and greater than when she started. This is also to show that it is the Catholic Church that is of God and from God. It is to go this low level of perversity as if it were defeated that only God can raise her up and not man, since only God can raise her up, and He will but in His good time.

@@daddycool228 I had begun to feel a certain emptiness, even after Communion. The Church became like the Catholic Church used to be with processions and vestments and classical music. It was a beautiful service. But I didn't feel a difference from when I entered Church to when I left.
And the decline of the Church started more than a century ago. The Priest called me a heretic because I believed Satan (and his minions) are real. The Priest was very angry at me because I wouldn't back down. They also don't believe in hell. And when I asked where my deceased loved ones were, the (same) priest told me to read I Corinthians, chapter 15. Since I was never taught how to read the Bible (I grew up Episcopal), I didn't understand what I was reading! In essence, there was no ONE Episcopal reply. And I could interpret the Bible chapter any way I wished. I lived in Manhattan NYC, so the modernism had hit the parishes hard and fast.
There were other questions that might eventually have chased me away. I left just as they appointed a female Bishop. They chose an African-American woman. I overheard the Priests saying that was because people would not object a lot about a woman Bishop, because they would seem to be racist! That sneakiness turned my stomach. They were the racists, using her color to cover her femininity. So the woman Bishop was unchallenged!
I recently looked to see what they are up to now. They are supporting children who want to transition their sex. They made a big hullabaloo protest about that out west in a conservative area.
I stopped researching their current news! God brought me to the Catholic Church. Period! Like Thomas Wolfe wrote, you can't go home again.
I was meant to be here. Oh! Now they marry same-sex couples. A full church wedding!

Seems we are in the “trial”
Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 675 “The Church's ultimate trial”
"Before Christ's second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the "mystery of iniquity" in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth."
Bishop Sheen's prophecy of "Ape of the Church" to be

For me, Fiducia Supplicans should never have been issued. Blessing individuals in their struggles and journey is good, but blessing a "couple" "in a Union"(para 30) gives recognition and acceptance to that status. We know where this is going ...and what example does it give?
"Temptations to sin are sure to come but woe to him by whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin" Lk 17:1

Thank you, as always, Gavin for your carefully and prayerfully considered analysis of the current crisis in the leadership of the Church. As a “cradle Catholic” I can assure you that the Church has never been free from problems of one kind or another. Before the Second Vatican Council, there were a great many Priests and Religious who had found their way into the Priesthood or their Religious Order otherwise than as a result of a genuine vocation. After it became possible for those who felt that they never had a genuine vocation to leave, they did leave, in droves. Nuns abandoned their convents and their habits and dressed in mini skirts and went out to work as social workers. Members of Religious Orders took up Buddhism or other Eastern mystic religions. The seminaries attracted in vocations by setting up homosexual clubs and offering an active homosexual lifestyle to seminarians. While the new form of the Mass was, generally, celebrated with reverence and due solemnity, this was not always the case. Sometimes there were rock musicians and dancing in the aisles. Unfortunately, those resisting this tide of “Modernism” were generally seen as eccentric or unbalanced (and, quite often, they were). Just as there were those in the secular world who really did think that bringing back pounds shillings and pence would solve the problem with inflation, there were those who considered that a real spiritual renewal was not required - a return to the Tridentine form of the Mass would, in itself, as if by some sort of magic, automatically restore true spirituality in the Church. One of the main problems in the Church today is that a clergy, made up of men who are, predominantly, of a homosexual orientation, are trying to minister to a laity who are, generally, of a heterosexual orientation. As Bishop Robert Byrne found, when he was appointed to Newcastle and Hexham, importing what he considered to be a perfectly normal and acceptable homosexual lifestyle into the Diocese, such as he was used to in the very “gay friendly” Archdiocese of Birmingham did not go down at all well with the laity in the North of England. He simply threw in the towel - he admitted that being a Bishop in the modern Church was an impossible assignment. The Pope wanted to encourage a homosexual clergy and the laity simply did not want it. They wanted a clergy who, at the very least, would maintain the public fiction that they were living chaste, celibate, lives. So, the current move towards acceptance of the active homosexual lifestyle and the offering of blessings to confirm this is the logical end result of decades of a weakening of the Faith. I agree with you as to the nature of the document. It starts off by asserting that the Church has not changed and could never change its doctrine. Then, it goes on to introduce a change of practice which does, for all practical purposes, operate as a change of doctrine. It is like a timber house whose timbers have been eaten away on the inside by wood boring beetles. It looks sound and solid until, one day, eaten away from within, it suddenly comes crashing to the ground. The Church has been eaten away from within now for a very long time. The fatally weakened edifice was bound to come crashing down to earth eventually. It was only a matter of time.

Thankyou. I am a convert who has personally suffered the conflict within a family and the tragedy of a homosexual brother who died from Aids. The psychological and spiritual struggles of same sex attracted people cannot be ignored. However through this smoke and mirrors act of deception, this unholy hierarchy have misled them and everyone else into thinking that salvation is not necessary because repentance is not necessary. They have led people away from Jesus. Where there is no longer a concept of sin there is no longer a concept of love that overcomes sin. They have emptied the Gospel of its meaning for everyone in the world.
Either God exists or He does not. Either Jesus died and rose again or He did not. The greatest act of love that we can offer to the world is our faith.
God keep our priests safe from the violence that will be directed against them. God keep them safe from doubt about their purpose and their personal choice to sacrifice all for the sake of the love of God.
God change the hearts of the nest of vipers in the hierarchy, especially those actively pursuing their own sexual gratification because of their own lack of faith.
God keep those who can see through this travesty safe from doubt and distress. Show all of us your love by guiding our hearts to safety in the storm.

    • @user-ll9wh4jt2k
      @user-ll9wh4jt2k Před 7 měsíci

@yankeecitygirl I read it thanks. It has already been abused by liberal priests. That is the problem. The secular media have already misrepresented the purpose of the blessing and America magazine placed a big ad in a newspaper which was also very misleading saying that the church has changed. Unfortunately the document says the priest is not allowed to comment on the situation of the couple. If he cannot say it is a sin he cannot advise them to change their situation. That is the Catch 22 statement that creates the smoke and mirrors. This applies to divorced and remarried couples too. Notice there is no attempt to reach out to the women who are acting as surrogate mothers for the children in these relationships.
It is also a statement that puts priests in danger of legal prosecution and public harassment by the " bake the cake" types. Apparently lots of priests are already being targeted. Especially the Latin rite ones. America magazine also published an article stating " Is this the end of the Latin rite?". A veiled threat to drive the church into schism over this issue unless you interpret it their way.
Whether this document succeeds in upholding church teaching or not will all come down to how it is put into practice.

But 4 times at least, the Declaration mentions the blessing of COUPLES. So there is nothing now to prevent a SS couple from holding hands and asking for a blessing. Whenever we see rampant confusion on any Dogmatic or Moral teaching of the Catholic Church it does not come from the Holy Spirit. As Gavin says, it is deceitful. Their purpose appears to mislead by using confusion.

Not bathing, not name calling, but humble, simple and kind, speaking as Saint Paul did, not going around the bush. @@Dabhach1 I love each Successor of Peter, as instructed by Christ. Today we ought to approach the magisterium with the mindset of “what can I learn,” with a spirit of obedience and docility - it is what we are called to do as Catholics. Slandering the pope, twisting his words, and representing him with a hermeneutic of rupture (warned by Pope Benedict XVI) is antithetical to tradition and doctrine. If I am wrong, please refer to the appropriate text which rebukes this approach. If not, keep canon 1373 in mind.

There could be no other purpose for this document than to introduce chaos and confusion into the Church, and to allow perverted priests to "misunderstand" and confirm people in mortal sin- risking the eternal damnation of souls. I am also a convert, thanks be to God. And I will always be faithful to the Holy Church, no matter who occupies the seat of Peter.

Yes, because Pope Francis is a close friend of Fr. James Martin S. J. and he couldn't do that photo op "blessing" with a civically "married" SS couple fast enough, immediately after the release of the horrific Declaration from the Vatican. Good priests are censored while the very public figure of Fr. Martin goes scott free. Both he and Pope Francis need our daily prayers for conversion. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

Recently I was considering a return to the Catholic Church after years of spiritual journey through many other Evangelical churches, and righyt now I think that the only church that will remain pure and untouched by the modern ideologies will be the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Catholic Church has never officially repented for decades of sexual sins within the Church, among its clergy, so the spiritual door stayed open to entlarge the sin, this is why this now happened! The only solution against any sin is to repent and receive a new Grace from God. This goes for any sinner and the Church as whole as well!

Not logical. Orthodox allow divorce contraception etc and some orthodox bishops have already agreed with this new document. Apparently European orthodox in Serbia were blessing same sex couples 100 years ago. The church does not bless homosexual unions, just sinners. The only shock here IMO is the scandal and external appearances and the failure to condemn the sin of sodomy. Don't jump out of the frying pan into the fire. This is a pastoral disaster , not a doctrinal one. Orthodoxy is the opposite; externally and verbally robust, but doctrinally internally inconsistent and unsustainable.

The Church, or His Body, is spotless, She has no need of repentance, however, some of Her earthly members do indeed need to repent and be held accountable, from laity, to priest, to bishop, to pope, to consecrated virgins, etc. Technically, they have severed their membership by grave unrepentant mortal sin, they are no longer "in" the Church.
      .
Eastern orthodoxy is not a logical or wise option. They also have sinners from laity to patriarchs. They are also made up of "humans". And here lies the truth of it...He has One Church, with Rome as Her visible head, but Christ is Her true Head. The Lord in His own time will deal with the rot of persons, either in this life, or in the next, or in both. I appreciate the apostolicity of the East, but they are in schism. How wonderful if they were not, then they who are faithful within it could be such a bolster to the One True Church.
