    I have had debilitating 24/7 trigeminal neuralgia for over 5 years and have been recommended for a pain pump by my current pain care provider. I also suffer from severe chronic headaches/ migraines. Meds have not helped long-term, and I had an unsuccessful CyberKnife procedure several years ago. I'm in No. Nevada near Reno, so this is very helpful for me. I'm going to see a TN specialist in Reno for a consult and will have the procedure soon, hopefully. Thank you for the info, Dr. Patterson!

      Please, let us know how it goes. I’m sorry that I put it off now, but I don’t have a physician to fill it yet. That’s all that’s stopping me.

    I had 3 major accidents, motorcycle crash in 1990 and a 18 wheeler accident in 1998 both on I-5 ( and a note was not at fault for either one). Dr. Paterson has implanted my Nero-stimulators for both my neck and lower back 1rst one for my lower back in 2013 and then added one for my neck in 2017, have had replacements for both over the years, these last ones have a 5 year battery life. Recovery each time have had zero complications. These units got me 100% of pain meds until I blew another disc requiring a fusion of the c5-6 this year in. 2022. He is good at helping fixing the problem and not covering it with meds until and only as needed. If it comes to needing a pain pump either my Nero surgeon or DR. Patterson will be my first choice.
    My point is if your suffering from chronic pain make an appointment to see Dr. Patterson, he a great doctor and takes the time to listen to you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

      Ask him why they didn't make the actual pump wearable OUTSIDE the body??? It's completely insane AND bonkers to consider having to go thru sliced open to put it in, possible full on leakage and death and if not, having to be reopened every refill time.🤨🤨🤔🤔

    Would it be benefiticial for Intractable Migraines, that cause me to have bp of 199/99 flares, I'm on opiates as I don't respond to ANY migraine modalities.Activity causes flares that send me to bed for days, weeks.

    I had the Intrathecal Pain Pump installed on 08May23 here in Colorado. My question is this: Is it only designed to work in a certain area of the spine or is it designed to deliver pain relief to the entire spine? If it's supposed to provide complete pain relief, then it's not working for me.

    I have had my pump for almost 9 years. It has failed 3 times. Each time, withdrawals are a nightmare and nothing can be done until a new one is put in. It stops working at 8,000 feet elevation, which no one told me would happen. I have it refilled about every 30 days and have a driver who drives 5 1/2 hours one way. Having the pump changed my life. Without it, I would be back in bed, unable to have a life. I live with chronic pain because of a spinal injury that caused permanent nerve damage and a ALIF, PLIF 5 level lower lumbar fusion with disc removed. Having this last surgery allows me to walk, and the pump gave me a desire to live.

    After three surgeries on my spine with little pain relief, my pain doctor implanted a morphine pump, on a low dose. He assured me I would not get addicted, as long as I followed his directions. After three years it malfunctioned, and I went into hard, agonizing, nightmarish seizures. He tried to correct it with oral morphine, but it made no difference. The episodes lasted for about six months--some for as long as 12 days--followed by several more months of feeling as if I had two cases of the flu. It was absolutely debilitating. I told the doctor to remove the pump, and he finally did, against his strong advice. I now control pain with Meloxicam. I believe the pain pump should be used in cases of terminal illness, but not for everyday pain. We don't avoid pain; we postpone it. And the pain of withdrawals and seizures was a hundred times worse than the pain of the original injury.

    • @arnie1005
      @arnie1005 Před 9 měsíci

      there is no way you should have went through a withdrawal because the pump quit working! It was because your old pain that the pump was taking care of came back, or the medicine was bad, and I seen that before.

    • @tomfuller5585
      @tomfuller5585 Před 9 měsíci

      @@arnie1005 I know what the old orthopedic pain felt like. It never brought on nightmarish seizures. This was terrible opioid withdrawals, along with the old injury pain. He changed out the med, and it made no difference. When someone is on morphine for years, and it suddenly stops, that person is going to go through withdrawals.

      @laurakibben4147 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Same here and yes, they will still allow you something for breakthrough pain. I personally never got less than a few hours below a 3-4 on pain scale on both morphine and oxycodone for years which I questioned and he got mathematical and clinical in talking micrograms and it being intracervical (sp?) and then blew it when he described the 6 inch incision to place the pump in my abdomen which I had previously been completely unaware of such "necessity".

My Pain management Dr has taken me completely off my pain medication and wants me off for 30 days before the pain pump trial. I don't think I can do it. On top of my back and hip pain I have bone on bone osteoarthritis and I just cry constantly. I can't even get zanex or something to help me deal. It's torture.

      Thats total BS. I've had the trials and psy h eval and setting date for pump install. Will even take my meds I'm on rn the day of surgery and even afterward. It is not necessary to make you fast or detox from an opiate. Go to a different doctor. Try a different city. Once u get the pump go back to regular doc.
      Call places ask questions. 30 days without meds? My God id be in a psyche ward somewhere from suicidal efforts or homicide. No.. look around get a different doctor honey.

    My thoughts are anything inserted into our bodies is worrying. Although I have two replaced knees, I still have pain. Chronic pain patients respond best to opiates but the government crackdown has meant the suffering of millions, the deaths of thousands worldwide because of undertreated pain. Be very careful of these implants.
