Hey!! Great video :D , the point about the "Long work and on call hours" helped a lot!! I kept seeing tons of articles about how negative cyber security jobs can be and it was nice to see it wasn't all doom and gloom in regards to jobs as someone very interested in the field :) I guess it depends on job role, where you work etc :D
Sandra might give the most value with regards to every cyber security subject on CZcams, thanks!
Ty for the video. I’m currently studying cybersecurity at FIU in Florida. I have all the opportunities already set up for me and ready. I just need to get my degrees because I recently work for the government and I have a lot of connections with people but at the end of the day I still need the qualifications.
i really appreciate your input sandra thanks for the vid
Also from my experince so far trying to get into the cybersecurity field, Most jobs do not care if you have a degree, they want CERTS and or a degree... Unfortently, the market has not caught on just yet with the facts that bootcamps are actually valuable. BUT also just know itll be hard to get in, but just keep applying!!!
Having experience is more valuable than certs or degrees
@@Stoneface_ Yes that too :). But im more saying jus to get the experince etc.
How much are Cyber Security roles in danger of being automated and replaced by AI? I'm especially interested in the Blue team ones.
Not at all in danger unless you believe the tin foil hatters that preach doom and gloom. If you watch some videos from David Bombal you'll see that AI helps boost the Security Professionals' efficiency rather than replace their role.
If anything...... AI will just make it both harder (sophisticated attacks) and easier (better analysis/efficiency booster) for us. Don't fall into the Terminator trap that demotivates you and preaches the worst possible outcome that legitimately won't happen.
Ive never been this early! :D
Thank you for this video, I'm in the process of looking for my first tech job and want to start in cybersecurity. I have been feeling a little discouraged and this helped me quite a lot.
Keep your head up and take a little bit at a time. Remember that the tortoise won the race.
I had a door randomly open during covid to work in the IT department where I was going to college. When I was getting close to graduating, I started stressing out, not knowing where I would go. Then I displayed interest in stay, and I was able to continue under the condition I would start at the bottom (which was Hardware Support aka the grunt). Now that I'm nearing completion of my bachelor's and with the security+ under my belt, my boss is finally letting me get more and more into security.
Take your time my friend. You will make it if you want it. And if you want it, who can stop you??
Hey!
Hey, thanks for watching! 😁
The biggest myth in cybersecurity is that people with master's degrees and certs have all the knowledge.
It’s just so much info it’s impossible :( and then the material and tech changes
Even if you have a PHD in Cyber security you still won't know everything
@@coreyleath4662bruh.......exactly
@@Jupiterxice With that being said I am 2 years away from my bachelor's and plan on getting into grad school. Going after CISSP certification and CISM as well
@@coreyleath4662 bruh....... I just left a defense job and I never go compliance again I am more Tech guy. However it infuriated me to see most them didn't have basic IT fundamental knowledge of how network or ports operate. How are going to secure something you know?
No love for the SIEM engineers :(
Early!
Hey thanks for watching:D!!
I'm thinking of working in cybersecurity for a short while. But I want to know if employers expect a lot from cybersecurity teams?
Unfortunately there are a lot of scenarios where "team" consists of different roles with you being the sole security person. That is the case for me at least and I'm about as fresh in the field as you can get. In this case A LOT is expected from you, but it's definitely not impossible. You're not expected to know everything, but it is highly advisable to answer questions with a better answer than "I don't know".
Quite my Job to become a cybersecurity analyst and taking the course through google.
Wish me luck!
Is there a video on key search words to took up for job boards?
I recently did the same and have interviews coming up I'll keep you posted
