Gotta say this was quite heartwarming. Ken's course might not be for everyone but his heart is in the right place as others have opined and mentioned. Sure some of his stuff might be cringe-worthy but you know what, sometimes self-improvement can be cringy at times. He clearly helps people in some way or form otherwise it wouldn't be a thing still. Eclectically heartwarming I would say.
I appreciate the comment! Oh yeah, what 24 year old doing this type of stuff wouldn't be cringy? But hey, the more I experience, the more I grow. Check out my reaction video man, I think you'll get a kick out of it
I think the ''cringy'' parts are exactly what some weak men need. He was being tough, but he also showed heart, emotions and respect. He was almost like a father figure, and most men who are weak have some daddy issues, so it's great way to reach a weak man. Some trainers and coaches are too hard and it's counterproductive, some of them are too soft and their coaching is useless, but this guy is perfectly balanced and on point. And it felt really personal, if he puts the same effort into every client as with Taji, i'd say he's the best coach in the world. Honestly, to me this is much better than the standard professional life coaching. Some of the coaches we are used to seeing are even cringier because they are so confident and make it look easy and simple, but it's not. Ken shows how hard it can be, but also shows you can do it.
@@thekenconklin First I was thinking this would be just bullying the guys to do more physical tasks but you were also helping them to do better. I was positively surprised by this. Well done and keep it up because this surely helps the ones who need it.
right? I was anticipating toxic masculinity with bullying and instead we see a genuine heartwarming video of regular masculinity and respectful encouragement - so nice to see!
9:17 Ken: "i'm kinda wanting to be that role model for that 18 year old version of me, I felt lost, suicidal, and just fuckin broken down, and i know there's so many men out there who feel the same way."
Taji: "sure"
perfectly incapsulates the man
How they edit these videos is amazing 😂 I laughed so hard

I appreciate ya!
This is what we should be doing at all of our high schools f*** all this p**** s*** that we've been trying for the past 30 years it is not working
As long as anyone creates a space for guys to feel comfortable sharing their emotions, I agree. Unfortunately society has taught men that it's shameful or embarrassing to share or express their emotions.
I really like Ken. He has a really big heart when he pushes you. It's not military training its soul training. And its honestly beautiful.
I didn’t know that Kylo Ren ran a physical improvement program!
In all seriousness, great job with this VICE. I feel like topics such as sec-improvement, productivity, self-reflection, and most importantly: self-discipline are some of the most lacking but sought after aspects of our generation.
I really like these topics and I think the next best thing to cover would be BUD/S training for the Navy SEALS, the people in that training are some of the best and most committed people I think you’ll ever see. And if you take the time to talk to even just one of the recruits or instructors, I think we as the viewers can take more from that than we could from this video alone.
Good job VICE. I hope to see more like this in the future!
The editorial begins with cynicism and ends with sincerity. I’m honestly impressed!
I thought they did an incredible job with this!
That was shockingly heart warming! I didn’t see this coming. I really liked this

Honestly as with a lot of people here , i was a bit skeptical of the dude, and was just prepared to laugh at one of those fake motivational gurus but honestly he seems like a honest and genuine dude that just wants to help others even if i may not agree with some of his points i gotta respect that, and that last burying exercise actually seems like a pretty good way to put your life into perspective , best of luck to him
I appreciate the comment. I do my best to NOT be seen as a motivational dude, and rather more of just an unconventional personal trainer. Our videos / experienced aren't for everyone, and there's plenty of alternatives such as BJJ, boxing, hiking, or whatever suits people. I have a blast organizing these types of experiences, and some people love it!

@@thekenconklin Ken, I'm a well-known skeptic and hater. But I think you're doing a pretty solid job of pushing your clients to their limits and then checking in with them and talking about what they're experiencing. I had so many coaches growing up who I assume were trying to teach me life lessons, but they never explained the benefit of the challenges. As a coach myself now, I try very hard to explain why we do what we do and how it will help us in the future. I've got 11 years on you and it took me a long time to learn some of these lessons you're trying to teach. So I think you're ahead of schedule.
Again, I am generally a hater, so I promise I don't write these comments a lot. Keep up the good work, friend!

As a Infantry Army Veteran I was sceptical and judging this video the entire time watching it. Thinking "What does a 24 year old have to offer Older Men and Young Adults be a Better Man" with him barely being a Young Adult himself. Every Physical Training he had them do had me SMH 😆. But towards the end of the episode I was moved and touched when he had Taji buried in the Sand and giving him that Advice then Screamed 100%. That's when I realized Ken has my Respect and Definitely has a Great Business thought out... 👏👏👏👏 Much Respect Taji for the Episodes you keep putting out, and to Ken for the "Better Man Project" you have thought to give Men a boost in life to gain the Courage they have been seeking for.
While I certainly feel I have a lot of room for improvement, I definitely feel like I have a solid foundation to build off and a clear vision that I think would combine my passions with something that I think a certain crowd of people could gain a fair amount of value from. Let's connect man, I'd love to hear your advice along with your story! (shoot me a message on Instagram or Facebook, links are in my channel's about section)
I appreciate what this man is doing! there is alot of people who need that extra kick in the butt to focus and get ahead.
i was expecting it to be way more cringe worth and dull than it actually was. it seems like a motivational experience for people who haven't really experienced to getting pushed to their mental and physical limits which is actually pretty eye opening. i think alot of people could benefit from things like this. all in all Kinda similar to a military exercise. i like the dopamine filled thoughts that happens when you are tired and exhausted, it can get pretty philosophical.
I think they just needed friends.
I’m glad you see it that way. 👍🏼
hell yea man, thank you for this comment; resided with me really wellz
100%, I couldn't agree more. In the reaction video I just posted, I address the reason behind a lot of the exercises so that people know why I assign certain exercises (I also laugh at some of the funniest comments 😂).

As a military veteran I loved seeing this. Kind of reminded me of basic training in some ways.
We are all about training on the area of discipline in every area of life
Have you seen todays young Gen Z people? A lot of them don’t know what gender they are…
I agree 100% about the part that if we died right now and started to regret about the things we couldn't change because we procrastinated so much and made so many excuses. That's like the worst form of mental torture for me. All that potential of being your best self just went down the drain. I lose sleep over it sometimes.

All of these men have the potential to become great, I respect them for having the courage and stamina to follow this program, especially when cameras are on all day - I can't imagine how stressful that must have been for all these guys haha
I appreciate this comment, Craig. All of the participants in this video are super genuine guys who simply strive to better themselves. I'm not the only place for that in their lives, for they all are involved in other activities and pursue passions of their own (which is necessary!). But its super cool when you can create community and a sense of brotherhood when you have guys who are looking to have fun and push themselves alongside you. I thought Vice did an amazing job with this documentary!
@@thekenconklin Forsure man, forreal. At first I won't lie, you came off pretty intensely, but after heariing your story about losing family and suicide I could see you are actually genuine and you are the kind of man who has once helped himself and through doing so, you have learned the keys to be able to help other men have a chance at reaching the pinnacle as you yourself have.
I can relate in a way. I have been suicidal in the past and I've been through psychosis and schizophrenia and whatnot, OCD too, as well as a drug induced psychosis which resulted in me attempting suicide.
I am currently 4 months and 8 days clean from Crystal Meth. I'm out of the psychotic hell I was in. I'm 26 this year and so I have recommitted to self development and to striving to reach the best version of myself that I can be, one day at a time, one piece of work or action at a time.
