@Davout No, it wasn't. It had poor and undersized battery life. Anyway lets hope Apple can keep up this trend so maybe also Android OEMs can try to adapt like they did many times, for example since Apple revolutioned the SoC with iPhone X also Samsung and Qualcomm started working harder... point is Apple still makes mistakes, like iPhone 12. Let's hope that iPhone 14 still does this good.
Wow. A 15% smaller battery and a massive 70% longer battery life! Apple really outdid themselves with battery life, I think app development also plays a role here since coding is specific for iOS. Anyway thank you for testing the smaller S22 as well, people say it's straight up trash but 7h for a 167g device is a great battery life if you ask me, I just wish Samsung did it like 300mAh heavier. Anyway could you make the test with 60hz or at least adaptive power saving and see how it handles? Also with dark mode? Overall it's a good battery life and could get better with further updates.
Apple has always had great programmers, their team were just more focused on other things. Although, now that Apple knows how important software efficiency is, they are using it to their advantage, eventually Qualcomm will follow in great programming, but this does allow Apple to save a significant amount of money which is why their profits have shot up. It's all about software implementation nowadays but I would rather buy a large phone, 6.7 inches at least without costing me a thousand pounds sterling or near that.

after checking some benchmarks samsung sits at around 60 degrees celsius, while apple gets to around 48-50. I tested the s22 in a phone shop for a bit and it gets incredibly hot very fast. I was checking multiple phones' cameras and taking like 3-4 pictures with each of them, between huawei p50 pro, iphone 13, motorola g30 pro and samsung s22 the samsung got way hotter than the rest. And since I own an s9+ I know that's normal, samsungs get very hot
@bobD yeah same here upgrade from the Xr in which battery life was at 87% since I got it when it was released. It lasted really long the Xr I was happy with the device
Unfair comparison for several reasons: 1. The brightness of the S22 was set to a noticeably higher level, probably 30% higher judging by the levels I measured with a graphics program using several screenshots of the video. This alone easily drains the battery with at least 10%. 2. The refresh rate of the Galaxy S22 had to be set to 60Hz to be equal to the one of iPhone 13. Just because the S22 can reach 120Hz does not mean that most people use it that way, especially if their goal is to get the maximum battery life off the phone. It's like cars - just because it can reach a certain maximum speed does not mean that people drive it to the maximum all the time. It's an extra feature that comes at the cost of a shorter battery life. 3. Another thing to consider is that iPhone 13 is automatically put into power saving mode and background processes are being killed automatically, whereas you had to set the Galaxy S22 into battery saving mode manually, and also battery usage to be adaptive. Once you do that, the S22's CPU would work at 70% of its maximum power, and less background processes will work compared to the default full power mode. You can also set adaptive power saving to revert back to 100% CPU power only when the phone truly needs it, such like when playing heavy 3d games. Once you do that, you will notice that the battery live is quite longer. 4. Also, have you used the S22 regularly for at least 2 weeks in a row before the test? The phone needs that period do learn the habits of the user and then will automatically set the adaptive usage of the battery properly. A brand new opened S22 will always perform worse in battery life comparisons than a slightly used S22 for at least couple of weeks. 5. You had to take advantage of the Deeps sleep feature of the S22 in order for the phone to limit the usage of apps that drain the battery unnecessarily. That also happens after a certain period of time, which is at least 7-10 days of daily use. You can also manually set certain apps into Deep sleep to force them not run in background (such like checking and downloading automatic updates) unless you truly need them opened.

10 days ago I was on the hunt for the new phone. The budget was around 800€ which is roughly around 950US$. It could go either way Samsung in one corner and iPhone 13 in the other. For the first time in my life I own an iPhone and don’t have regrets at all. Before this phone I had one with 120hz display but I don’t see the difference now with this display. Now I am opened to any scenario in the future but right now it seems that better choice is apple. This does not mean android is junk, in fact it has a lot of advantages, but one thing that worked for me is that after the transfer my iPhone was all set, there was nothing else to tamper with. I guess I’m right there where I want things to work right out of the box without much hassle.
same. honestly samsung has dropped the ball as of late. copied all of apples stupid trends (no SD expansion, no charger in the box) while not being able to match Apple's performance, battery life, or even camera (mainly skin tones) ( a big thing for many people including myself). going for the 13 as my s8+ plus is very much due for an upgrade, which is a shame considering how much i love android :/
Samsung S4 lasted 4 hours. the Samsung S22 lasted only 5 hours. They only improved by 1 hours after 10 years. That means 10 years = 1 more hours battery life.

120hz screen consumes way more battery than 60hz, you should've modified s22 to 60hz, but anyways, great job, is fascinating to see how long iphone 13 lasts.
Their displays have gotten way better but the biggest disadvantage is their batteries have not; with android draining too much with its google play services from its mid battery, the iPhone wins 2021/2022 battery wise 🔥
Then Samsung should have cut 3700mah to match iPhone. Turning the 120hz off would humiliate Samsung even more since it's still going to lose by lot to iPhone on the battery
The Samsung has TWICE the refresh rate as the Apple. That's why the battery died first. If the Samsung was set to the same refresh rate as the Apple it would have been a better comparison.
Obviously the battery isn't precisely calculated at the start, 1% for an hour of yt is impossible. The fact is that Android is generic, so you need to optimize it yourself. My Oneplus 7 pro was 6-7h at the beginning, After optimisation I can get 10hours of SoT if I use it straight, with QHD+ 90hz locked with adb. Or 7h SoT on 2 days usage.
After a couple weeks with my s22, I can confirm that the battery life is pathetic. I super fast charge multiple times per day to avoid a dead battery by sundown.
Depends the network if it’s poor service the battery drain very quickly and with wi-fi it’s different story! I wana see the test with mobile data on not Wi-Fi!

Great job on the testing, but I still question why you don't use the samsung on 60hz to match the iphone? If it's purely a battery test, then you should keep the settings the same as each other, otherwise you are faulting samsung for having the ability to be better than iphone. Now the iphone may still have the better battery, but it would probably be a closer race if you matched the settings

The iPhone 13 mini with 141g will still defeat the S22
@@Abhi-yp1od In battery? Probably. I guess you are right but if the point of youru message is to show how Apple is superior, they're not, their ecosystem isn't the best either, by all means, they're amazing products, not the best though, you may disagree or agree but this is my reason; there's no Apple TV or Apple Fridge, no Apple stove or Apple dishwasher and that's not a problem at all, Apple is a professional computer company, Samsung has a better ecosystem due to their products being more broad than Apple. Two different comapnies people compare all the time. S22's design is tempting af
I have the iPhone 13 and damn this small battery it’s insaneeee 😨❤️❤️
Lol samsung is runnig 120hz and 13 is still 60 hz lol
Unfair comparison for several reasons:
Why does the s22 look like it has a sim card in it
Can we do a comparison where the s22 is running on 60hz
Should have left the S22 at 60 hertz for a much fairer comparison

For the first time in my life I own an iPhone and don’t have regrets at all. Before this phone I had one with 120hz display but I don’t see the difference now with this display. Now I am opened to any scenario in the future but right now it seems that better choice is apple. This does not mean android is junk, in fact it has a lot of advantages, but one thing that worked for me is that after the transfer my iPhone was all set, there was nothing else to tamper with. I guess I’m right there where I want things to work right out of the box without much hassle.
