    Alessandro Nivolas charachter, in my opinion, did a great thing in the ending because it takes a great amount of understanding, compasion, selflessness and humanity to deal with such thing in that way. Fighting for yourself is one thing but helping sombody else to do so and sacriface yourself is real heroism to me. Nevertheless everybody did a great job, this movie brought something new for a change. I also loved what Rachel Weisz said how Daniel Craig had this abstract idea about Esti and Ronit being one person - very interesting.

    Disobedience is a wonderful movie about lesbian love , it's the kind of movies that stays in your heart and gives this feeling of happiness and sadness at the same time ,Idk if you felt it or not , but the ending ...why just not let them be together ? I know Esty made a hard choice by leaving her husband but if she was going to why not go with Ronit ? Why did she have to choose somewhere esle? Someone explains to me so that I try to get a little bit of her perspective .

    • @LexTVi
      @LexTVi Před 2 lety +8

      I agree with the first commenter. I think she made the sacrifice to stay near her baby's father. I also had another perspective which I could be wrong about. I think it was her opportunity to establish her own identity and what she wanted out of life. I think throughout the movie the question of "what do you want out of life or are you happy?" was asked (maybe not specifically in that manner) and that stands out as sort of a theme. Then I think about the moment where she she makes the comment about how women take on their husband's name and has to forget her own history. So yeah part of it is her sacrifice for those loved (Dovid and her baby -- don't get me wrong I think she was madly in love with Ronit as well) and part of it was her attempting to maintain some control and ability to forge her own path. Like I said I could be wrong but it's what I gathered from it.

      @@LexTVi i think you are right in everything you said , but if she was in love with Ronit and in the same time wants to search for a purpose in her life , why not go with Ronit to new york ? She would have been so much happier and Ronit will help her with it , esty chose the hard way I still don’t get it , and by the way it’s been a while since I wrote that comment, am glad you replied, this brought me so much feelings I felt when I watched it back at the time , definitely need to rewatch it someday soon.

    • @valentinagonzalez7536
      @valentinagonzalez7536 Před 2 lety +8

      Yes, maybe you're right. But I think she didn't sense like Ronit was very excited to take the commitment. I mean, Ronit loves her for sure but always gives this sense of independence that she wasn't going to be able to provide as well, at the end she's a housewife and Ronit doesn't seem to be into that kind of life, not yet at least. After she has the discussion with Dovid, Esti goes upstairs and Ronit tells her to leave him, she asks her "and go where?" and Ronit doesn't reply back. I think that's when she realized that that was not her path to take. She is indeed very brave, she left her husband and also took very well that the love of her life wasn't really ready for her yet, so she walks away to make her own choices and to make a life for her own and for her child.

    the words this interviewer chose had so much meaning. stories of women growing up in an environment which does not reflect their identities back at them as women. wow. that is so totally what it is like to grow up a religious jewish girl. probably, whether you are queer or not. there is just one very traditional expectation which is so limiting, it is a horrible box. women are meant to be mothers, caretakers, cook and clean. limited to the home and family. even if we are to work there seems to be so often an expectation that we are to be teachers, social workers...just roles where we are expected to take care of someone all the time. it's horrible. it needs to stop. the men who see women this way and want to live in a world where women are their servants. it is revolutionary to choose a lesbian relationship in the face of all that. you are saying, i refuse to take care of a man who refuses to be my equal, and i can have my own liberated identity which does not revolve around what i do for other people, but what i want as a woman. it's saying what women want matters. i think we should live in a world where personal relationships are not political statements, but in such a restrictive environment, the choice to embrace lesbian identity is so inherently political. this speaks to me
