Effective July 7, 2014: VA is changing its monetary burial benefits regulations to simplify the program and pay eligible survivors more quickly and efficiently. These regulations will authorize VA to pay, without a written application, most eligible surviving spouses basic monetary burial benefits at the maximum amount authorized in law through automated systems rather than reimbursing them for actual costs incurred.
Under the current regulations, VA pays for burial and funeral expenses on a reimbursement basis, which requires survivors to submit receipts for relatively small one-time payments that VA generally pays at the maximum amount permitted by law.
The new burial regulations will permit VA to pay, at a flat rate, burial and plot or interment allowances thereby enabling VA to automate payment of burial benefits to most eligible surviving spouses and more efficiently process other burial benefit claims.
The burial allowance for a non-service-connected death is $300, and $2,000 for a death connected to military service.

Very useful info for my kids to handle easier than knowing zilch! If you can make a video about good veteran life insurance companies to deal with, I would love to leave more than enough for my kids to pay my final expenses and have some extra cash for them to help them out! I will be buried in a national cemetery in St Louis where my parents, in-laws and brother are and a few veteran buddies too! Thanks for your website, you and Combat Craig are extremely useful channels for us vets

Thank you! My Father passed away years ago. He was retired after serving 22+ years in the Army. I am worried about burial information for my Mom who is not doing well. We live together but it terrifies me as what to do in the moment of dealing with that grief. Thank you for the information you provided!

$300 is better than nothing, but todays funeral expenses makes that $300 look like 3 pennies only.

Thks for all your videos!! How about a video on mileage reimbursement. The old method was using a kiosk which was much easier for older vets like myself. Now enter MY HEALTHY VET system which is ok if u have a computer or i phone. I’ve used this& ive got 8 claims for travel which are over a month old&im still waiting for reimbursement. Thks for your concern.

I'm a Nam Vet and confused as hell. I don't think I'm able to fuck with all this garbage. I'm at 100% service connected and I don't know who to talk to. I've been sick for the last year on oxygen and have a hard time even keeping my appointments. I have had two heart failure incidents the past few months. I know I'm not long on the earth and I'm very worried about my wife. And she has stage 4 cancer. Had to sell our home, move into assisted living and that cost a ton in itself. Gotta say though, the VA has been good to me. I'm just worried about, when I'm gone...
