Palpatine plays an insane long game. And he just saw a glimpse of his victory in that banquet hall.
Palpatine knew he wanted Anakin as his apprentice since the beginning. He could see Anakin's potential during that fight with Dooku but ultimately, he didn't care who won.

The shadow hologram technology is one of the most interesting types of tech in the series.
Dooku was using form 2 makashi He is a fencer. Leverage, position, advantage-they are as natural to him as breathing. Fun fact sir Christopher Lee was also a fencer
I love how Palpatine asks Dooku to provoke rage and hatred in Anakin, while only defending himself from Anakin's attacks without trying to seize the initiative in battle and put him in his place XDD
Anakin been electrocuted so often Darth Vader doesn't need batteries for all that equipment they added to him.
Patience is a hallmark of the rule of two era Sith. It is not just Palpatine, the Sith had been working this plan for close to a thousand years before the clone wars. Each doing their part to advance the grand plan. As for Dooku, he actually believed that Palpatine was going to share power with him. He honestly believed he was the best of the Jedi and that no one could ever replace him as his master's apprentice.
The plan was to pull Anakin further into the dark side by casting doubt into the council. If he killed Dooku, no big worry.
As for what they’d do with Palpatine as a hostage, they would’ve bartered for all the separatists they’ve arrested throughout the show.
Dooku uses Makashi, primarily used for 1v1, it's an elegant style based on fencing, which is why he uses one hand.
But Dooku's weakness is fairly simple, and it's seen in his fights with Savage and Anakin, that his finesse can be overwhelmed by both brute aggression and calculated aggression, along with unpredictability

Dooku used only one hand because this is one of elements of second lightsaber combat form (Makashi), Dooku was master of it, this form is focused on lightsaber duels 1vs1 and 1 vs many, it is more elegant technique from the time, when blasters wasn't so common in a galaxy. Curved hilt of his saber also is an element of Makashi, which helps using your blade with only one hand
Its crazy this mf organized this whole plot to fake his kidnapping and all this shit just for the purposes of making anakin distrust the council more and test him against dooku

Palpatine was attempting his ROTS plot already.
@@willfanofmanyii3751 This, I think this was his first attempt and what we see in ROTS was his just his second try at getting Anakin to kill Dooku.
You can’t deny that the plan that Dooku’s plan to kidnap Palpatine was actually a well thought out plan and if it weren’t for Obi-Wan, things would have gone differently.
Palpatine plotted his own kidnapping just to get Anakin closer to the dark side and told Dooku to go easy on him as a way of testing him

I don't think dooku was aware that anakin was already half a sith while they were fighting because this was a test to show anakin's full potential in front of palpatine but the scariest truth is that palpatine had been grooming him since the beginning ever since he was created and if you don't know who anakin's father is it's palpatine and the reason why As it turns out, Anakin was made via manipulation of the Dark Side of the Force the manipulation in Shmi’s womb was orchestrated by none other than Palpatine himself The truth is discovered when Darth Vader experiences the pivotal moments of his life after tearing a hole between the realm of life and the living Force As a mere shadow of dark energy, we see him as he meets his pregnant mother and who is that behind her? Palpatine. Readers then see Palpatine manipulate a swarm of Sith sorcery around Shmi’s stomach, creating the baby who will grow on to become Anakin
Watching these CW episodes and then the Acolyte is like night and day
