- What's a better way to learn a language than practicing it with native speakers? I've been learning Vietnamese for over 6 months now and I am finally at the level of basic communication (kind of). So, in this video, my boyfriend asks me questions starting with some simple ones to more complex ones (for a vietnamese beginner).

Want to know how to start learning Vietnamese? I recommend a company called 123 Vietnamese (123 Tieng Viet). They have their own books which you learn from during the lessons with a Vietnamese teacher.
I also live in Saigon and it was quite difficult to find lessons or apps online which focus mainly on the southern Vietnamese accent, which is also why I opted for a Vietnamese teacher.
I wish I started learning from a teacher sooner because now I know a little bit, I find myself learning faster and faster and my boyfriend can help me perfect pronunciation.
I find remembering vocabulary the most difficult part of learning Vietnamese but speaking and pronunciation is definitely up there too. How was my pronunciation?
During the outbreak, I've been learning Vietnamese online with my own private tutor. There's honestly not a better time to start learning vietnamese than now.
I was going to make a video at my progress at 3 months which I regret not doing as it would be interesting to see the development. So now I will be giving updates on my learning. So expect to see a "1 year learning vietnamese" in the future.

Her pronunciation is great, sentence structure is very good. She should know it is ok, even better, to say "(em thích) món ăn Việt nam" (instead of the short cut 'món Việt' which is often used when listing, comparing..). Thank you both!

Great video you guys! Your Vietnamese is not bad, and your boyfriend's English is good too! And your Vietnamese accent is good and better than most of my ex's that I have tried to teach. I am from the U.S. and I would love to go to Vietnam one day! I have a good accent when I speak Vietnamese too, but I only know words my parents taught me when I was little. They also say my accent is better than lots of Vietnamese born in the states as well. I wish I could read and write it too though.

It's very nice!! Learning new language is one of the amazing thing I can only speak two. I can only read Arabic with sound characters and also understand Punjabi which I barely speak 😅

In the North Vietnam there are many places to visit. I highly recommend a few places for you such as Ninh Binh, Sapa, Ha Giang, Hai Phong, Ha Long and of course Hanoi. It is better when you travel after the epidemic gets better. Wish you and your family happy and healthy!

Mình nghĩ bạn nên đi Sa Pa. Ở đây có đỉnh núi Fansipan cao nhất Đông Dương (Đông Dương là chỉ khu vực gồm Việt Nam, Lào và Cam Pu Chia). Ở đây cũng có nhiều ruộng bậc thang, có các dân tộc thiểu số, phong cảnh hùng vĩ, khí hậu mát mẻ và có thể hơi lạnh :))

i have studied thai for 12 years and my thai is a little more fluent than yours not much more i just started with vietnamese and its hard to start over again it takes days to remember few words well done

Eve Hemingway I follow few oversea vietnamese youtubers and their channel names usually start like this: “X Family - life in Y / cuộc sống ở Y”...by that logic you could name ur channel like this: Hemingway Family - life in Saigon or cuoc song o Saigon.

Yeah technically we aren't because we haven't signed the papers but I feel it's more socially acceptable in VN to refer to him as Chồng but in the UK more acceptable to use partner or boyfriend :)
