  • Nathan will prepare you for the solar eclipse happening April 8th 2024! He will show you what kind of lenses you will need, filter, and other accessories.

    WARNING:
The Solar filter must be placed in FRONT of any telescope, camera lens or mirror. It should NEVER be used behind an eyepiece, viewfinder or lens, including any drop-in filters found on lenses.
Do NOT point the camera at the sun when the lens is NOT protected by a filter that is specifically designed for SOLAR VIEWING.
Even if you are wearing solar observing glasses, do NOT look through a viewfinder of a camera if the lens is not protected by a solar viewing filter.
Nikon is not responsible for damaged equipment due to improper operation of the camera by the user.

Early April is infamous for thick cloud cover in the Hamilton and Niagara Region. Hoping we have cloud-free skies on April 8th so everyone can enjoy the eclipse and get some wonderful photos and videos.

Why is the Part 2 a private video? I got the email from Nikon with link yesterday but it doesn’t open.

Would a 2x t/c on a 300 f/4 PF be suitable for photographing the eclipse or is limiting to a 1.4x (or even a 1.7x) t/c a better idea for any particular reason?

I have the same question with my 300mm f/4 PF and a 1.4 TC. My cameras are the D500 and the Z6.

I've heard that 500mm-600mm is ideal. I'm hoping 400mm would work, but I haven't seen many images.
