    Repetition is key. If you are new barber speed will come when you understand technique and really understand how to blend hair. Once you repeat a system that works for you over a long period of time you naturally get faster and understand more. Eventually you get to a point where it doesnt matter what system you use.

    I only use 2guards to do my skin fades unless they want a number on top. Cuts my time in half and looks the same as if i used all guards. I do a lot of fast fade competitions but when im in the shop because of learning efficiency techniques i can do quality fades in 15-20minutes without rushing at all

      @@dan1x10 No i either use the #1 and #2 only or i use .5 and 1.5. Depends the type of fade they getting and hair texture but 90% of the time i just use #1 and #2. I mostly use .5 and 1.5 for kids cause they tend to move a lot and i dont want to mess up by accident

    Okay so I was rocking the corded seniors, and 2 cordless magic clips for the longest time and I just copped 2 of these gold versions, and let me tell you something. This is the fastest I have ever cut hair with my best quality I'd say. I'm genuinely impressed but it does make me wonder "how much" better these other brands are like BabyLiss and Gamma/SC, because these Gold Magic Clips impressed the hell outta me. I'm not a licensed barber, but I've been cutting hair since Grade 10 in high school. Oh and funny story, I sent my resume to a local barbershop, and I did include the fact that im not licensed and that I had my doubts and worries because of simple things like, fear of new clients, as in, "Would I be ablee to give them what they want?" type of feeling but, the owner of the shop seemed like they were insisting that I come for an interview anyway in person. Maybe they liked my energy because I told them that, "If the lack of having a license changes anything, I'm willing to simply volunteer and or just sit and watch to learn the flow." Maybe they liked how eager I am? I am a Uni student in the Faculty of Education, Majoring in English and Minoring in Psychology. My dream is to teach English in Japan and maybe own a barbershop one day.

      @Seancutshair thanks for the reply man. I just need ONE MORE answer because I feel like this next question will absolutely determine what I fking do with my life. Take as long as you need to see this and reply 😭 but Some quick context.
      I have very supportive parents and im so lucky, but i feel like, although becoming a teacher is my dream along with barbering, it seems as though becoming a teacher became my "moms dream" as well and of course I see it as simply her wanting the best for me and all, and along with the achievement of graduating, but I just feel like she doesnt really see the passion I have for barbering. And so now, what I need help with is basically just coming to a decision. I feel like I just lack the confidence in my abilities and if you wanted to see pictures just let me know, maybe you could offer up some tips, open to all kinds of criticisms lol but anyway, if the owner of the shop ends up thinking im good enough, should I take the job?!?! I mean I need to save up for tuition too anyway and for getting license after Uni. So instead of getting a different full time job, should I just believe in myself and take the risk?
      At the moment, I only have about 20 regular clients and I charge $20 full service. So more or less 400 a month but remember, this was a hobby I started in high school because i didn't want to be broke lol. Man i dont know. People say to take risks when young but its definitely scary when you dont know if the outcome will be what you wanted? I dont know.

    Clipper over comb, half guard THEN bald out...guard switch is too slow

  • @irvingcanseco872
    @irvingcanseco872 Před 8 měsíci +4

    Two things I would like to add:
    • Learn to clipper over comb.
    Anything over a #2 guard I clipper over comb. I've noticed that using clipper over comb to blend a #2 into longer hair has saved me more time than reverse fading from a #5,#4 and #3 into that #2 guard.
    • Maintain sharp blades.
    Usually, for myself, I try to replace the blades every 2-3 months in order to spend less time going over the same spot because of the dull blades not cutting well. Especially for the foil shavers. When I feel too much resistance on the shaver when trying to skin a bald fade it's usually time to replace.
    You definitely made some great points on your video. Just wanted to add to that in order to help any struggling barbers or long time barbers like myself who can still learn new things.
