No one was willing or going to ever like this incarnation of with Ray but calling all stations has its moments and it came out at a time when grunge and alliterative euro dance music was dominating the air waves. I accept this as a true genesis CD even if long time fans diss regard or reject it. You can't take away the force and the longevity of Mike and Tony.
It’s a shame that this album came out during the start of the “Nu Metal” movement of the late 90’s.
i love the album, but once i read a review of the album on amazon comparing the lyrics to shakespeare, i wish i could find that review, real funny

A very underrated and midunderstood album
Excellent song, from a very good album.
Ray Wilson is an amazing singer in a phenomenal band. Great song!
The part where everyone starts moving again after lying on the ground has always gotten to me on a deeper emotional level and I'm not really sure why.
THEY ARE ALL GREAT MUSICIAN'S
THEY ARE STILL GENESIS
Agreed except for Ray Wison.. He doesn't belong in the same sentence as Genesis...
He really has a good voice
“Calling All Stations” gets too much hate these days as I do so consider it a hidden gem.
This was and is such a classic soft rock song that somehow really didn’t get its rightful recognition at its time of release but it’s really stood the test of time and the vocals are hauntingly stunning😎👌
why is this not on Spotify this is a fantatsic Genesis sing and i agree very underrated album!
The album must be blocked in your country because I can listen to it
@@oliverfresh5742 yeah pretty much😊
Genesis is my husbands favorite band. And athough I like a number of their songs, I didn't really get into them as much until this album came out. An absolutely amazing album. I love the singer's voice and this entire album. Maybe because I wasn't as invested in them as a group, I am able to appreciate it more than those more die hard fans.
God I love this song❤
i love this song
This album is vastly underrated and full of great music. Ray is awesome !!
Agreed. Great songs on this album. There are duds. They should never have done an arena tour, thinking they could fill seats without Phil. Might gave worked with smaller venues. Ray did a good job with the classics
No, it isn´t. It should have never been made!
It’s such a hidden gem and I just don’t know why it deserves a heap of hate.
Calling All Stations album is extremely underrated! This song, "Calling all Stations", and "Uncertain Weather" are masterpieces. "Calling all Stations" gives me the chills every time I hear it. I'm a huge Collins fan myself and, yes, this album sounds nothing like traditional Genesis. It's a different style, a different era. So stop comparing! Appreciate how truly beautiful the music really is! I think Wilson does a great job, sure his style isn't the same as Collins or Peter Gabriel, but it's different. Unique. People disgust me when they compare and judge based on comparison. "Oh, that sucks, it doesn't sound original." DOES IT HAVE TO?!?!?!? C'mon, guys, it's the 21st century!!
Sorry about ranting, but man, reading some of these comments pisses me off! I'm not saying you have to like the "new style", I'm just saying take time to really listen to the music. Pretend it isn't Genesis. Then see if you really like it. You might even like it more than traditional Genesis. Really, it's beautiful.
Have a nice day!
Autizaum very good album but unfortunately they couldn’t sell tickets in America because Phil left, not fair😢
It seems perfectly fine but you cant call it genesis
Sorry listened to it and to me it sucks.. My opinion and not cause I'm a true Genesis fan from 1974 on but just don't like it..
I agree
Alien Afternoon is pretty solid also
Calling All Stations on Spotify please.;)
I loved this album. I think Ray is an excellent singer, perhaps their best. More than anything, I'd like to see more original Genesis albums, especially with Ray.
Coming back to watch this video in December 2020 and thinking of the messages within. Calling all stations was a great album... it shouldn't been issued under the Genesis name for obvious reasons but still good.
After Peter Gabriel left Genesis remade themselves with positive results. Still it was Genesis. The same with Steve Hackett. Then as the 80’s progress Genesis stopped being Genesis and became a pop band. This album is a pop band trying to be Genesis again and missing the mark. You are right, they should have renamed themselves and remade their image. I personally feel like they should have gone back to the sound they had on Duke or ABACAB and forget the disco they put out afterwards.
Masterpiece. Ray Wilson NUMBER ONE! 👍
Hell yeah!
Wilson may not be Peter Gabriel but he did such a decent job filling Phil’s shoes. I mentioned Gabriel because I believe that Tony and Mike were gunning for the latter to return before ultimately settling with Wilson.
@@K.J.S.est1994 Ray is better than Gabriel to me. Collins was the best Genesis front man to me and then Ray.
My son asked me if Jesus was in the video. I said, “no son, it’s Mike Rutherford but you’re close”. He obviously meant the actor walking around putting the others to sleep
That was my question. Who is this guy? Is it Nir Z?
First time I saw this was at the Genesis Convention at the London Astoria 2. I think this is a great song and video. What might have been if they had persisted..
Ray Wilson is a great singer, a great songwriter and a very very good men!
I feel this incarnation would have been successful if they had removed Genesis from the band name
I agree.
But wouldn't they have to put a new name in its place? Or do they make their name a symbol like Prince did in this era? haha Come to think of it, yeah this album might have had a better chance if they had.
Personally I think this album would've been doomed regardless of singer, the landscape had changed too much by 1997 (although for some reason unbeknownst to even myself I feel like Congo could've been a moderate hit had it been released in 1999).
They should have changed the name after Peter left and a couple more times afterwards. There was little commonality between different periods. When I say I like Genesis, I mean the pre-75 stuff, but people may think I mean Abacab.
I enjoyed this iteration of Genesis, great album.
@@tudvalstone Do you mean pre 75?
By 1995 Phil Collins already left. Calling All Stations was the only album released after We Can't Dance.
Great song by the post Phil Collins era.
I know - it is not Peter G (not a big fan); it not Phil the Collins (big fan), but this is a damn fine song and a damn good album. Misters Rutherford and Banks are the backbone of the Genisis and do this justice. This LP is worth the time taken to listen and add to a music collection.
Alan Hall: Right, The Title Genesis Is Still Being Used + Placed On Some AweSum Down 2 Earth Tunes, Sung By Some AweSome SoUlls 2 Sway + Dance With !!!/...
I agree. Dude has soul. I don't know how I haven't heard this before. Lets get the band back together.
Alan hall, I love Collins but not at all Gabriel fan but I do think Ray did have a decent voice. Gabriel I couldn't stand no matter solo or with a band. Gabriel couldn't sing live at all but Collins could sound better live . Gabriel overrated clown.
This song sounds like an oughties pop song.
Love this song too!
Great track. This has Mike’s signature all over it. Loved the album but loved the unreleased B-sides & instrumentals more…. 7/8, Anything Now, Run Out Of Time etc.
I wish Genesis would continued with Ray Wilson. He is criminally underrated as a singer/guitarist. He has all the good qualities of both Peter and Phil. Such a shame at a missed opportunity.
True... but he sounds like a million other singer/guitarists out there.
This video feels like the video for pink Floyd's high hopes. Love how the video is story driven.
Funny you mention the Floyd---I've always thought that Ray Wilson kind of sounded like David Gilmour!
@@davidl570 now that you mention it, i can hear it. He kinda looks like Gilmour, too.
@@Yakkymania Hmm, never noticed how much they resemble each other---I see it now though! Wish this version of Genesis had been bigger.
Love, love so much this song!!
I love it 🥰
But actually a very underrated album ngl! Ray is a very great singer!
Good Video, Good Song !
I can actually picture Peter singing this song.
I would love to hear PG sing this. Sounds like a song he would make.
@@DJ_Macphisto This would be right at home on his So album, I think.
LIVE LIVE LIVE
This album was pretty good, but it didn’t help that by the time it was released Collective Soul had been around for a few years and much of it (especially this track) sounded a lot like them.
🙂👍👍👍
Tells .alot what the Genesis production team thinks..if all the calling all stattions videos are in 2001 360p quality.
Bout time for a upgrade boys.
I like this more than some other classic-era Genesis stuff. Stone me now! Lol
Nothing wrong with that! I'm sure you like Miley and Gaga too!
Stone you? Nah, you get followers.
Consider yourself stoned!!!!
Might as well stone me too--I really like all eras of Genesis but the PG era is easily my least favorite---never been able to get into that period (well, for the most part). I DO like Peter's solo stuff, though, so that should count for something, no?
Genesis' "Calling all stations" was a commercial flop. Phil Collins' absence was a blow to fans and the band. Although it was a far cry from their late-eighties, early-nineties heyday, the album has great tunes: Congo, Small Talk, If that's what you need, and the title track shine.
And nope, I'm no wimpy gen-Z, poopy-pop fan, I grew up listening to Genesis since I was 11 and bought every record they put out!
Let's just put it this way. You all didn't like Collins when Gabriel quit Genesis and now you hate Ray more than Gabriel and Collins. You people don't know who you like do you?
The moral of the story is that Genesis fans don't like change.
Really it's too bad that they stopped after this album. Obviously it mustn't be easy to come after 20 Phil Collins years, but after 2 or 3 albums, people should have got used to Ray Wilson, and Genesis would be launched on another era. Maybe they had their reasons after all, as said, better to switch off fast than getting consumed slowly...
Yes, there were talks of a US tour in support of this album but most Genesis fans were not willing to let Phil Collins become another ex-member after Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel, so that tour was scrapped.
please in a higer quality ( video )
The singer's Ray Wilson
con el tiempo y los años comienzas a valorar este disco que a mí parecer es una obra maestra Ray es buen vocalista y lo único malo es que no fue valorado en su momento una lastima
At that time, Paul Carrack should have replaced Phil Collins . He has the closest singing similarity and talent.
No Paul Carrack has a different sound and quality. I Love his voice and the quality of emotions he brings to everything he sings..That Voice everyone knows but not who he is? kind of like Van Morrison, a lot know his voice but not the man! Some other great vocalists Steve Winwood, Van (the man ) Morrison, Paul Carrack, ->Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics and Ace, and many others, also Eric Clapton.
I feel like calling all stations is a very depressing album😩😴
How? This is the only depressing but great song off this song.
@@CrackBeaver ok I agree now😂
@@CrackBeaver Seriously have you read the lyrics?
@@doctorwhat3683 No. I found out about the song Shiprecked and One Man's Fool, those are pretty depressing
@@CrackBeaver what about Uncertain Weather?
Esta banda se supone que es la misma de Nursery crime? Le hubiesen cambiado el nombre.

There are two Genesis. The first a progressive band with melodic lines. The other, a pop band that was driven by Phil (and a lesser extent, Mike) to be a hit maker. I prefer the first, a musically exciting band. The singer here (Ray) is very good. The song is very good pop song. After 1 or 2 listens... I'm done.
What they tried to do with this album seriously???
Genesis were trying to go with an alternative rock sound after nearly 2 decades of going progressive pop following Phil’s departure. CAS was critically slaughtered by both Gabriel and Collins fans as they thought that Ray didn’t fit the Genesis mould. Still an underrated album in my book.
Genesis is not the same without Phil Collins the Great!
Peter... I think you mean 😂
Génesis was not the same without Steve Hackett
Couldn't agree more Phil is the man and was Genesis.. This guy and The album Calling All Stations is not Genesis.
@@edwardtomkinson3418 you have lost your mind if you say Gabriel was better than Collins and even Ray was better than Gabriel. I think Gabriel was a joke and way overrated.
@@squonk86 You're right about that last thing you said!
Señor hermes lo curare tiene a satan encarnado ahi voy🙄
Good song- doesn't sound like Genesis though...
And THAT'S why none of the fans bought it. Peter and Phil's lyrics may have been cryptic at times, but at least they were full of powerful, captivating imagery and they stirred emotion. This guy sounds like he's whining, just like every other Eddie Vedder wannabe from the mid-90's who jumped on the grunge bandwagon.

Ray was so good! I like Phil within Genesis, but his solo output is just embarrassing. Mike and Tony brought the edge back 👍.
This is a dirge
Phil? Peter? Esto no es génesis
240p? Ugh.
It's the 90s man....lol
Tony... Tony Banks? What... what are you doing? Why... why did you decide to do this?
I'm not the world's greatest Phil Collins fan - and I'm really only a fan of Gabriel's SOLO career, not his Genesis days - but this is just out-and-out WRONG. Like they got some young grunge dude to fill in for a while.
Oh, and the video is gay as fuck.
@@RJMc819 COCKEAD.
This is completely banal, generic nonsense. i LOVE Genesis and this is hard to stomach
Agreed!!!!!
No.
I'm just saying dude. There is no way you can cover for Phil and Peter so just quit.
Not making any comparisons. I thought Calling All Stations was crap.
Why did they even attempt to do this? Genesis without Phil Collins is like the Stones without Mick Jagger. It didn't even sound like a Genesis album. Banks and Rutherford should have called this project something else.
This guy makes me cringe. All he does is cover peter and Phil solo stuff and genesis
yeah, I don't like this joker
yeah ray is just a dumb person who thought he could come in and fill-in for a legend, but he failed
Coltsman180James
1) Ray is a fine vocalist regardless if you like Calling All Stations or not.
2) If you hate the notion of Ray (or anyone who isn't Phil or Peter) fronting the band, that's not Ray's fault. Tony and Mike have him the job. If Tony fucking Banks asks you to join Genesis, anyone is going to say yes and you're lying if you think you wouldn't.
These are original tracks, idiot.
Tiercellus learn to read. All he does is cover Phil and Peter in his live shows. He sucks. You IDIOT.
serious downhill plunge since 1977 for Genesis. This is about as close to junk as they've ever gotten.
20 years of erosion has taken its toll. Hollow, nearly meaningless.
This is not genesis...😢
It is. Go kick rocks.
This is the worst , this is not Genesis , and this is the worst video I've ever seen. Without Phil it sucks bad 😠
This sucks
