FBI identifies gunman as Thomas Matthew Crooks in Trump assassination attempt

- The man who tried to assassinate former President Donald J. Trump during a political rally was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
It remains unclear why Crooks fired shots at Trump as the assassination attempt is being investigated. The FBI didn't disclose the shooter's when they spoke during the news conference.
Authorities explained that the shooter's DNA and biometrics were being examined during the ongoing investigation. The rally site in Butler, Pennsylvania is still an active crime scene.

Almost certainly political but who knows, could be someone looking to get famous. If political, motivations can vary greatly. The most obvious is he is a leftist looking to stop Trump. However, that needs to be proven. He was a registered Republican with some news outlets reporting he made a $15 donation to a Dem PAC with a couple outlets saying that is incorrect and it was someone else with the same name. One of his old classmates in an interview has said he was very conservative. There are groups within the GOP that have great distain for Trump including some pro lifers over the past week that are blaming Trump for the change in party platform to remove the goal of a national abortion bad. He also could have also been one of those unstable right wing extremists that thinks civil war is inevitable and thought he could speed it along by shooting Trump. Need to just wait and see as facts come out.

They use their middle names to identify and separate them from other people with the same name. It keeps others from being harassed and misidentified. So if your name was Tom Crooks in real life you might start getting calls or news people showing up to your moms house or your work. It could be a nightmare. I hate how they talk about "respect," but all we see from politicians and the news are they being disrespectful.
