All of a sudden a voice from the tv said "Knock knock" so I replied "who's there " the voice replied " turn the tv off" I leapt off the sofa, switched off and ran upstairs to bed feeling absolutely Creeped Out! My parents said I was lying the following day.
I was drunk in college coming home from the bar when Space Ghost Coast to Coast first made it's debut on Adult Swim. My girlfriend at the time and I had to grab a random person from the hall to confirm we weren't hallucinating.
When you and your friends force each other to stay awake during adult swim and start almost hallucinating and then this comes on everyone wakes up and just stares until it’s over and it was always the thing to talk about later the next day.

One night circa 1981 I was watching a Marx Brothers film and laughing. The TV suddenly cut to a person laying on the ground screaming. Something seemed to he laying on him. There was no announcer, just a man screaming and others groaning. It took a full minute for me to understand what I was seeing and almost three minutes for them to cut away. A cat walk in a disco had collapsed. The news people got there before the first responders. Turned on their cameras and started broadcasting. They finally realized the mistake they made and cut away. A few minutes later went back to the scence of the tragedy this time with an announcer, now explaining what they were NOT now showing.
The Off the Air segments are also really good to watch when you're not 100% there. Perfect to either get really lost and confused, or entertained and entranced.
