  • DSTV is the largest satellite TV company in Africa with over 20 million paid subscribers across the continent. You can literally watch anything with over 600 channels. They have made it even better with the introduction of the DSTV Now mobile app available on iOS and Android with so many nice features.
    You can watch over 600 channels on your smartphone on the go which is very good. But every good thing has it challenges, likewise the DSTV Now Mobile App - sudden interruption with several error codes.

    HOW TO REGISTER OR SIGN UP FOR DSTV NOW.
    You will need a DSTV Smartcard number, the registered phone number to the account and/or email of the account. In some cases, they may ask for the full name of the registered Account. You can watch it in detail here:

    Update:
    For those who watched our DSTV NOW error codes, DSTV is following the footsteps of Netflix to ban IP addresses provided by VPN companies from accessing DSTV NOW servers and they won't even give you any error codes for this.
    You can speak with your VPN service provider to change the IP or try another VPN.

    What about the downloads for series and movies on DSTV NOW app? It has errors after downloading them; there are 9 download shows but it remains hidden.

      Due to Digital Rights Management, downloads have expiry dates, there are many programs that can't be downloaded and the downloads are encrypted - they can only be played by the app in a phone that meets all their security requirements

    Every time I try and stream via DSTVNow on my laptop I am able to watch up to about 3 minutes only and thereafter this message pops up. I will click "Try Again" but nothing happens. I bought a brand new laptop and the same error persits.
    I'vve cleared the cache, allowed third-party cookies, cleared search history, logged out and signed back in yet nothing seems to help at all.
    If I stream via the app on my phone it works fine but not on any of my devices.
    Is anyone able to assist me - please?!

    PER 130001 on my laptop and on my cell phone I have just limited channels - although I am a premium subscriber. It is sooooo frustrating.

      If you have the smartcard number and the phone number and/or email registered to the account, you should contact live chat from the app. I showed how towards the end of the video. They can take a while to reply but they'll be your best bet

      What's your TV model number? Check for app update as DSTV had rebranded the app. You have to log into TV from the App too

      Yeah, No thanks to DSTV PER errors can mean 12 different things when I made the video but it it can mean up to 24 different errors. You just have to copy the error message and send for me to explain which particular one it is.

      Do you have the error message? That is the best way to know exactly what cause your PER 0 error. A few things can cause it ans there's no way I'll know what caused it without seeing the error message.

      Your Samsung device is reporting Google Widevine certification L3. That's the reason for denial from server. When an Android phone bootloader is unlocked or something tempers with the system partition, Widevine certification (core system security) moves from L1 down to L3. Dstv Now won't stream for Android devices that return L3 in Widevine certification. Hope that helps. I've done tons of videos on how to fix device is not certified by Google (Widevine L3) issues

      I got GEFH code when I used free VPN so it definitely comes from network provider configuration. I'd like you to send me the error code if you can. Or try using Express VPN, it worked well for me on DSTV app

      @@chrisvisser6249 a little late, this has to do with the MTU settings on your wan link, i adjusted my fiber router from the standard 1492, to 1400 and it worked

      I find that strange. Did you buy the TV new out of the box? Does any other person have access to the TV? DSTV has a lot of errors but telling you that a device has been registered before is usually pretty accurate. You'll have to reach out to live support or try clearing app data or reinstalling the app or getting the account that added it to remove it

      Catch up can be very problematic and most times doesn't even give an error code.
      You can try the following:
      - log out and login again
      - clear app data and cache and login again
      - if network issues continues after this then use A VPN (Express VPN in my case) select South Africa server and try again.
      - if all the above doesn't help, then connect support with live chat and hope they reply quickly

      You get the code from your TV when you sign in with your account on the TV app. Then input the 5 digit codes display on the TV in your phone to connect. It's kinda unnecessary though but DSTV put it there are extra account security.

    Could you help me with my error? It's really annoying now cos the app isn't letting me stream content. The error isn't happening in the middle of the stream but in the beginning before even loading the stream. Meanwhile, a friend who I shared my details with can stream it with no problems whatsoever. She uses an iPhone and I use an android. I don't know if that is a part of the problem... The code msg is in the comments

      You shared your details? That's the problem. Last year, two devices can stream simultaneously with the same account but dstv reduced it to one earlier this year 2023. Just log out, click on forgotten password when trying to login. Change your password and try and see if the same problem persists

      @@SmartDepot I shared it after a couple days. While I had it for just me, it wasn't working either. Sharing it and it working for her when it wasn't working for me is why I'm concerned. I went to meet her and we were in the same place using the same internet service provider, it failed to work for me (even when she wasn't using it) and it worked for her

      It means you have logged the phone in with another DSTV now account. Try another log into the previous account(s) go to manage devices and remove your phone from that account. Then go to the new account and login in again. Only than you now register the device in the new account

    Error code on my Huawei p20 phone is PER with no numbers. On laptop it works no problem, only on phone I have PER error code.

      It has to be Google device certification related or your device failed Google's SafetyNet check. As you may know, Huawei and Google are not the best of friends now. Download the SafetyNet check App from play store and check if your device passes SafetyNet

      Error codes PER 0 OR PER 1 means that device is not certified. That has to do with up-to-date security of the OS that the smart TV is running.
      If it is running Android OS, DSTV checks if the TV is certified by Google before it can allow streaming access to the device. If your smart TV is running other TV OS, maybe dstv hasn't approved or have delisted the TV from the list of approved TVs for DSTV NOW

      Once the device signs in, it will be added automatically. To completely remove a device, you've got to change the password and that requires OTP sent to the Phone number or email tied to the account

      There's nothing much I can do about that. Try updating the app or uninstall and reinstall it again and see if it helps. Most times, something is wrong is caused by server busy

      I got your email. DSTV Digital Rights Management (DRM) service is detecting a security requirement failure. Your Infinix device is returning L3 (Level 3) for Google Widevine certification.       First, you should log out and login again. If the problem persists then use a PC or Laptop browser to visit now.dstv.com and link your smartcard.
      If you have done both and the problem persists you'll have to live chat support from. The app and hope they answer quickly

      The TV doesn't pass DSTV system security requirements for either hardware or software. These requirements had to be reached for Digital Rights Content Module to perform streaming handshake 🤝 with the server. This is the main reason for PER errors. If you can copy the error message and send across, it will be very helpful

      Every 50x errors are (DSTV) server based errors and most likely not from client device. Try clearing app cache or data log out and login again to see if it improves.

      It means another device is streaming and you can no longer stream on two devices simultaneously. I made a new video about that. If you remove every other device, then it is possible that the DSTV server is over loaded and reporting false resource use

      You are probably using MTN Line that doesn't start with 080? I've had to change a line because of its inability to receive OTP. that it a network problem. Also check if DND (Do Not Disturb) is on for your number. Also forward the issue to your customer service

      That's new but it seems to be an account related problem. Is your smart card or IUC properly linked? You may have to send me the error code message to see more details or tell me what you do before it happens let me see if I can replicate it

      @@SmartDepot Thank You for reaching out. The error happens once I tap a channel to watch. The same way you get streaming limit reached because another device is already streaming. I get that error instead. Yet two days ago my app worked just fine. I googled extensively and I found someone who had the same issue but he wasn't helped so I don't know how it was resolved. Also I tried chatting on the live chat with an agent, they were not able to resolve

      PER 1 Errors are usually Encryption, Certification or security issues. It may well be that the TV is not properly certified by Google or lacks an important security requirement that is stopping the dstv servers from streaming live.
