    Just a fun fact: Apple didn’t invent the term Tandem OLED. There’s a research paper using the term “tandem organic light emitting devices” (which is basically the same) that was published on 2016.
    However, Apple is to be the first company to openly advertise it as a standout feature, making it seem like they invented it. And that’s very likely on purpose from them.

    I don't understand why all this power yet the OS kills background processing apps. when I render a video and upload I need to keep the app active and cannot switch to any other app until the process is finished. if Apple does not fix this then upgrading to newer iPads does not make sense at all.

    Unless you are a wealthy person from silicon valley, I have no idea who buys the ipad M4 when you can have a macbook air M3 as lightweight as ipad + keyboard, having twice the battery life, being much more durable for the same price. If you really want the touch screen, you buy the least expensive ipad as well and you are good to go.

    I really wish I could apply the new ipad to the desktop applications i currently use. I think it would be fantastic. Plug into a big monitor, do some work. Grab the ipad and take it to the park and do some more work. The form factor is perfect for that. Could do it with a laptop but the ipad with a pencil and touch would be so much better. But alas, no such software is available. Can’t even format an external harddrive or even see how much room is left on that harddrive. I am so ready to make the jump from laptop to ipad. Just can’t. So hard to justify the ipad cost.

      Can I ask "What software are you missing"? I agree that the Files app is probably THE worst app on iOS. It is the one thing that prevents me from ditching my Mac. I use my iPad Air 5 (and hopefully the new iPad Air 6 13" I have on order) for about 90% of the same things I do on my Mac Mini. I'm hoping the bigger screen on my new iPad will make Stage Manager easier to use. But as a media consumption device, or a work assist device, the iPad is truely good.

      @@peteranderson7497 I guess it boils down to Photoshop and Lightroom. Ipad almost has Lightroom but the file handling to get Lightroom edited images stored/archived to a NAS or laptop/PC just doesn't work without paying for Adobe cloud storage and a painfully slow trip through the cloud to a final NAS or PC resting place. Ipad Photoshop just is way too lightweight in features for heavy editing. Photoshop is ok for light edits and ipad Lightroom is ok for a few shots but not a large shooting sequence.

    I agree with the Apple always setting up the scenario where they shot a whole movie on an iPhone or an iPad or combination it’s not happening if you’re a CZcams creator maybe. I will most likely be buying one of the new iPads. But the main reason is because I have not had one in years. my last iPad did not have the pencil basically my iPhone and iMac did everything I needed it to. but I do want to get into keeping a digital journal and things like that because over the last few years a lot of written down things that I had got destroyed and I would like to have something when I do it it’s in the cloud so for me an iPad with the pencil it’s worth it to buy one now because I’m not upgrading from anything if I had say one that was one to two years old I definitely would not even worry about upgrading. do I want to get the I know whatever I get I will probably use it and then pass it on to somebody else. I usually tend to get the higher in product for a little bit more lifespan. The one thing that I don’t like is that people that just bought one last year can’t use the new pencil and can’t use the new keyboard. I think that your product is within a 3 to 5 year range. All new accessories should work.

They are in deep with those overpriced goggles and trying really hard to get into our pocket. I use an M1 Air, M1 MacMini Apple Watch 5 and a iPhone 14. I will wait for the iPhone 16 to upgrade to a 15pro specifically for content creation. After listening to your voice and your argument, I will ONLY upgrade when the software requires it..

    Do we really need M4 (or even M2) iPads? Especially with Apple intentionally limiting the iPads to iPad OS, instead of Mac OS?

    It's created for people like me. Most people use only 5% of the capabilities of an iPad Pro so they don't need the 100% speed/space/etc. I use at least 75% if not more. I now have a 1TB 2020 iPad Pro with only 100gB free space. I use it for many hours each day (no exception) and it's showing aging issues. I ordered the 2TB iPad Pro (returned the nano textured one right away) and waiting on refunding before ordering the normal screen iPad Pro. I would love to have a larger screen but the 13 inch is just great for working and especially for creating. I use it for portraits and I just love it. The larger the screen the less easy it will be to travel with. But yeah, it's for people like me Ropsy 👍
    Some people are complaining about the fact that the new Pencil doesn't work on other devices,but that has to do with the landscape place of the camera for which the magnets had to be reordered. That's why the old pencil doesn't work on the new iPad Pro and why the new Pencil Pro doesn't work on the old iPad's. I'm sure the Pencil will be usable with future iPads. We had the same argument when we had USB-C instead of Lightning. So don't worry about it.

    They can build a rocket ship with a M500 chip but if IOS can’t handle it, it is pointless. We need to hear better file structures and file handling. Great for CZcams, that’s about all. People inflict pain on themselves by trying to make the iPad the go to computer. Maybe for the TikTokkers. I have tried it many times and could not get most things done without work-arounds.

    I’ve been using the new iPad Pro for the past few days and it’s absolutely brilliant. I have no problems at all with iPadOS, the apps I use and the workflows I have adapted. I use it for work and personal needs and I expect it to continue to get the job done and more. The right tool for the right task 🤩
    (FYI, I'm usually able to find a work-around for any little quirks or bugs as I do with my other systems (MacOsX, Wintel, Linux and others - no big deal)
    I've been using iPads since day dot, and their durability is amazing. My IPad Pro upgrade was to replace a the IPad Pro 2020 model which is still going strong and I will continue to use for specialised tasks.

    Hi Ropsie. I've been watching your excellent Vids for five years Or so. I agree with all you said about Apple.
    i've decided to get a 13 inch Air In addition to my iPad pro M1. because I like to have one to write on like a sheet of paper, the other to use as a reference to with my notes and book Mark ups. either tablet will do all the complex tasks that I need.
    The IPad Air 13 with the pencil is more pro for my professional needs. mainly because of the touch button ID. The 13 inch screen is essential. better speakers, better screen, pro motion, m4 chip and Face ID, for me are unnecessary marketing fluff. For functional media consumption the features of the air are excellent. Having to raise the screen to unlock it from a desk or table is just plain irritating. for research and writing the iPad air is an excellent professional work tool. Apple is Apple. Best apps. The hardware? I don't have a choice. I'm over it. I am sick sick of the bullshit though.

    I like the new iPad Pro a lot because of 2 reasons: it‘s much lighter and the screen is simply sensational. I really enjoy that. Low weight and a great screen are in my opinion the most important criteria of a tablet and for me the improvement was big enough to upgrade from the already good 2022 models. That is what is relevant in my eyes and not how aggressive Apple is marketing its products.

I think they’re not listening to consumers enough anymore, but it doesn’t make somebody an apple sheep because they see value and something because they like it if the person likes a lighter tablet and a brighter screen, and that brings value to them, then the product is worth them upgrading to, if you’re just getting it because it’s New and Apple said yes that would make you an apple sheet. This person clearly sees value in an upgrade.

    The idea of putting in MacOS on the iPad would result in a Windows 8 scenario. What a brilliant idea from a tech reviewer who doesn’t understand tech. The Pro reviewers (artist and content creators) who use the iPads as part of their workflow give the new iPad Pros a thumbs up because RAM and processing power do count.

    • @PaperlessX
      @PaperlessX  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Simply because Microsoft failed with Windows 8, doesn't mean Apple would automatically fail. Considering that they managed to have iOS run on a bigger device... it is possible to make macOS run on the iPad (especially when it has better hardware). It won't be a copy and paste scenario, of course.

    • @michaelcobbin
      @michaelcobbin Před 3 měsíci

      @@PaperlessX Running iOS on iPad would alienate many iPad users and be a Windows 8 fail. A vast portion of people like the simplicity of the iPad because it works similarly to iPhones or smartphones. History shows that if a corporation changes its user interface, it alienates its significant fan base. The interface and OS must evolve to allow the user to be taken on the journey. Microsoft has proven this with every second version of Windows they release. Windows 7 hung around for a long time because Microsoft did a shit 💩 with the next version.

    As a long-time viewer of your channel I was some what miffed at the tone you take in this video. Apple is not perfect there are many improvements it could make to iPadOS but that's a totally different issue to the iPad hardware. Up until the recent iPad range update most pundits were complaining that there had been 12 or 18 months since Apple last updated the iPad. Then when they do, you get this wall of complaints about it. Apple does not force customers to purchase new products. There are other alternatives in the market place. If you don't like the iPad then buy something else - it's your choice. There is a very good article on the Masteries website about problems/issues with iPadOS and iPad hardware. It's much more considered and therefore useful than the moan you have done with this video.

      Some of us don't mind having a new iPad every five years. Imagine if the M1 was the second generation iPad Pro. It would be a huge upgrade, and most of us would want it. While others prefer a new device every year, others don't and it's alright that everyone can speak their mind.

      Point taken. What is said is true though. I stick with Apple only because of the apps. Their attitude with hardware is for the most part profit driven. I take Apple as they are and use the apps which are not them and put up with apples nonsense.
