going to sleep early is such an underrated form of self care! :)
Very true!!
Really? I thought it was an overrated one! Everyone suggests to do so and as long as I feel the importance of it I'm being hard to myself for non achieving it... 3.26 am here rn
Agree
Seriously! The overachiever in me can sometimes make it challenging to get to bed at a good time.
Agree
One of my self care and self compassion practices that I encourage is to have a favourite photo of yourself as a young child. Ask yourself “What does that little girl need from me? What do I need to do to take care of her.” That little girl always deserves good care. Good food. Good sleep. Fresh air. Exercise. Love. Would you send her out without breakfast? Would you make her stay up late to do her homework? Treat her well. She is precious.
That’s such a wonderful idea!
❤️❤️❤️
What a beautiful idea. Thank you.
Love this idea ❤
Love your reply ❤ so beautiful thank you 😊 Patricia!!@
1- Tune in: ask urself what u need right now. Stop and take a moment and listen to urself. Align ur actions with ur needs.
2- practice self compassion: treat urself with care and kindness. Imagine urself as a child or a depressed friend and do things to urself what you would do for that baby and/or friend. Place ur hand on ur heart and feel self compassion.
3- Make yourself a nourishing meal. Make sure u r eating not only enough fiber, protein and carbs but also that the taste is satisfying.
4- Eat something u want without guilt. Enjoy cheat parts in healthy eating.
5- Eat mindfully: fully experience your food. Intuitive eating. Listen to ur body. Enjoy your meal.
6- Tune with your morning ritual: let it be a skincare or morning drink. Fully immerse in it
7- Stop weighing yourself: stop associating it with healthiness. Consider enough sleep, energy through the day, water intake, how you feel physically after a meal, stress management etc as health.
8- Hydrate: 8 cups of water daily!
9- Stay close to nature
10- Move your body in a way that makes you feel good: stick to a satisfying exercise routine let it be dancing and/or skipping rope.
11- Take ten deep breathes
12- Slow down your bed time routine: don't rush up thing like skin care and/or brushing
13- Take a slow, mindful shower whether at night and/or in the morning: don't rush things. Don't over think scenarios.
14- Schedule the Me-Time: do journalling, reading, or doing nothing
15- Reflect on what is most important to you: Set A-side a few minutes to think why they are important to you and how you can slowly add those things into your life. What are the barriers and how to avoid/beat them.
16- Express three things that you are grateful for. Write why you are grateful.
17- Tidy a space: a particular area daily. Organize it.
18- Do hygienic things that make u happy: like shaving, doing nails, hair cut, and/or invest in things like undergarments and/or clothes.
19- Nurture your relationships: have healthy relationships. Healthy communication whether by texting and/or calling.
20- Create a healthy social media environment: follow positive accounts and unfollow that bring self-doubt.
21- Disconnect from the screens: turn gadgets off for a while such as an hour in the evening
22- Question your beliefs and fears: think why you cannot do it and find brave solutions.
23- Think what things are "sources" of stress: and find solutions to deal with them.
24- Set boundaries for yourself: know your limits, what doesn't align with your values and when to say no.
25- Listen to your intuition: inner wisdom. Learn to listen to it.
Thank you for the summary!
Praying is my favourite self-care practice.
agree 👍
Stop lying to yourself 😏
I’m 20 yo and spent most of those years having horrible habits
Depression and anxiety didn’t help
Now I’m trying to change and there are a few simple things that have been making me feel better and happier
- cleaning ( yeah I feel really good after cleaning the whole house 😂 )
- exercising first thing in the morning
- eating healthy food (spent years only having pizza everyday)
- a spa day, when I stop for a few hours to take care of my skin and hair etc
🥰
Oh I thought I am the only one that feels good after Cleaning 😅
Yay, you got this! 💪🏻😊
Hair mask x one hour
Skin peel
Skin mask
Bath with Epsom salts
Put a rich lotion on your body and hands
Change sheets every Sunday
Aromatherapy diffuser
Go to sleep early
These are my absolute non-negotiables even if it doesn't happen on a Sunday. Thank you for the video!
Drinking a cup of coffee or hot tea, reading a book, journaling, coloring, binge watching favorite shows, having a good laugh, going out and getting some sun are some of the ways I relax.
I have severe depression and was really losing it tonight but this reeled me back in a bit. Thank you for this.
Sending you love friend 🦋🤍
Change your diet. Go online and find best diet for mental health. Give it some weeks to make a noticeable difference. STAY with it. Sending you much love and know you can do this..
For me, taking some time to myself includes sitting relaxing while watching CZcams. It’s part of my self care routine!
👏👏👏👏👏
Reading a good book is one of my favourite self care.
I just rested my palm on my chest and in that moment, I realized my breath softened and I got less anxious. Thank you
Self care for me is taking time for my prayer time. Also, when I am feeling rushed/ stressed, I will just stop for a few minutes, sit and do nothing. I usually do this between doing different 'jobs/ tasks'.
Great ideas! When you go outside, going bare foot for a few minutes...
My "self care" for this week are paint by numbers & making DIY house with my daughter 🥰
Aww I love that!! Also, I haven’t done a paint by numbers in YEARS but you’ve got me wanting to do one! Adding that to my to-do list 🤪
@@meghanlivingstone painting + lavender diffuser + christmas music = 🥰
Beautiful, thank you so much. I love your calm, nurturing vibe too 💙
Selfcare for me is drinking a cup of tea in the morning and writing in my journal. For me it means to be aware of my feelings an needs, to allow my feelings to be there and to prioritize my needs over all daily tasks. And I love taking the time for doing yoga and meditating. But of course, this doesn't have to be daily.
Thank you for this inspiring video, Meghan! ♥
You are that kind friend everyone needs 🙂
I used to hate myself (for 4-5 years, mostly my teenage years) and now im on a journey to discover myself and loving me more.
Hey..lv you..have a Great life
Thank you for this video. It is very important for me. Love from Japan.
Meghan sometimes when I am anxious at night I look up a video from you. Thank you.
I'm going to do some of these tomorrow!
My most needed self care is to set realistic expectations from myself in the day to day, and not stress out about being productive all of the time
I am so much addicted to the self help videos....and I enjoy doing it......self care is really important
I write journal
I drink luke warm water with a pinch of turmeric in morning
N skin care
Wonderful tips!!!! I haven't seen anyone talking about mindfulness and practising compassion as a part of self care!! Its mostly about skincare or hygiene but no one talks about taking care of your soul🥰
Praying the rosary and making holy hours are great too
Spend some quality time with your pets, it helps to destress effectively especially if you are really having a rough time. It helps with mental health and just a fun thing to do ❤️
So many lovely tips in this video. Love the focus on mindful self care.
Love your tips and your tone of voice. You sound caring and kind and humble.
I love how you introduce wide range of self-care tips in this video. Most of the self-care videos are similar, but the content of this video is much deeper. I wrote down all of them and reflected on my life. Thank you. By the way, some of my self-care are bullet journaling and reading.
My self care is always to simply make a cuppa tea, sit in the garden, listen and look at the garden only then after drinking my tea, getting my scissors/ pruning shears and taking the next half and hour to focus on pruning the garden 🪴
This was a great video 😊 thank you. I love reading, enjoying a cup of tea mindfully and doing embroidery. Xx
Great job ! Great tips! I discovered that going out for a walk at sunrise has worked wonders. It will give you an entirely different outlook on life and it is a great time for soul searching and self reflection.
Walks are a great form of self care. 🤗👏👏👏👏
This was an absolutely lovely reminder that I needed today!
Thank you for great self care tips ::) Good Small habbits make us much better
Thank you Meghan! You are so clever and kind, and it’s video perfect again! :) I hope you are full new ideas!
This is the best video/collection of idea’s I’ve seen on this topic. Very helpful, thank you!
You mention doing things with friends and family a lot. I gather you have a meaningful circle of friends and that is fortunate. Friends and family members are the source of distress for a fair number of people. Please recognize however that many people who lack self care and self compassion do not have friends or family. They don’t get emotional nourishment from relationships since they don’t have any. Please (if you are) buy into any illusion that everyone has friends, family and relationships. A large number don’t. There is a tendency among some to want to believe that everyone lives a happy fulfilled life because it’s kind of taboo to talk about or even acknowledge that life isnt a television show, life isn’t what is happening in happy songs or pretty magazines…for many. And that’s a reality, not an opinion. Your video is teaching people to be kind to themselves because their lives lack it. So I think you definitely get it. Big hugs to you. Thank you for the video.
You have such a calming energy
This is one of the best self-care ideas videos I've watched. Thank you so much Meghan for making this and sharing it with your audience. I'm also a new subscriber. I'll definitely watch all your other videos! 😊
These are such great tips! I love hearing what others do to practice self-care! 🧘♀️❤️
Thanks for all the self care tips. We all really need this especially with the holidays coming up.
I asked myself what do I need rn, then went to sleep right after.
I guess I needed that😂
This has been truly helpful for me. Thank you so much. Another tip I believe is good for self care is to take some time to laugh everyday. Laughing releases so much endorphins, and is good for lung and heart health, not to mention that it also relieve stress and helps with our emotional state. ❤️
#7. Stop weighing yourself. I haven't done this for years but as you were talking I did think of how I use external measurements to measure my worth and success. This principle can be expanded so much if we stop weighing our body and value by mesurements that don't work.
Thank you for a lovely video and insights.

I think when people recommend 'spend some time outside in nature' ....we now, sadly, need to qualify it with the recommendation to NOT be on the cell phone while on a walk or being out in nature. I am so surprised when I go for a walk in a gorgeous park and people are walking around , sometimes even having really heated conversations on the phone. It's so common now.
Yes..I see that also &they are truly missing out on the benefit of the walk.I refuse to be on my phone when taking a walk
Yes I hate that. I love turning my phone off and walking through the trees admiring the leaves.
So great! Thanks!
