- This video shows how to remove minor imperfections from windows, windscreens and glass. If the damage is not too deep, you can be successful removing them completely...or at least make major improvements. Care should be taken removing imperfections from windshields as it is a multi layer system. In some instances..total glass replacement is necessary.

Sir, you are what makes CZcams great! THANK YOU so much for sharing all that super valuable info with all the DIY'ers out there.
Keep up the excellent work!
Another great video, jammed packed with excellent information.
As a new detailer I love your videos. They way you explain everything is perfect. Thank you 👌🏾
Check out a detailing channel called ‘V-Project UK’ - small channel but amazing content - should be MUCH bigger than they are!
I have the same wiper marks. Man! You restored the windshield to factory settings, you're an artist.
You have made me have enough confidence to take it to someone else, because I have no patience 😂
Brian, what a great video. I’ve had me vehicle that I purchased pre-owned and it had some really bad etching. Needless to say I’ve tried a number of different methods to get the windows clean. I purchased the pads and Meguiars. I went slow and took my time with 2-3 applications. Wow, what a difference it made. Love the channel and the content you put forth. Thank you 🙏
More smart advice great 👍🏻 to knw a true pro who can give honest answers on all Detailing jobs
Best detailing content on the interwebs hands down! You sir, are a true artisan and craftsman. Thanks for sharing some of your expertise.

I do appreciate the kind words. Glad the vids help a bit.
That looked real deep glad you was able to get it corrected

You must be in Canada because I have never heard anyone call a windshield a windscreen except people in England. But I got to say that was best demo I have seen. I think I could do it.
Came out really good. It is something I feel is better in the hands of a professional than your average joe.
Brian, I would bet you can't believe how some people neglect their expensive vehicles.
I had to get after my daughter for not changing her wiper-blades.
Myself, a new clean windshield is so enjoyable.
Any spot or scrape is a huge distraction for me.
Dirty Windshied and dirty glasses.... at night... HEADACHES
@@apexdetail85 what cutting compound did u use for getting rid of the scratches
Nice approach to polishing out wiper marks. Good tip on heat on the glass. I have seen that impact melt Down backing pads with some dedicated glass polish.
Especially on windshields...distortion can develope quickly with intense heat in one spot.
Great video! I recently polished glass with a Rayon disc a few weeks ago. I had never done it with a specialty disc before I always did it with cutting pads. The disc makes a big difference IMO.
I think i scratched my glass with one of those harder pads. Do you think i can remove these light scratches that i cant feel with my finger nail with a soft felt pad?
Thank you for the great videos!!! I learn a lot every time!!
thank you for all your informative videos !
Looks great....suggest at end of videos to show before and finished product.
This will showcase your ability at a higher level....
Great job
Never knew that otc meguiars can deal with this kind of problem. Very great and infromative video!
Most shops use their products.
Thanks for the video and this great information. I wish you were in my area because I have a couple of windshields that need your magic.
Holy crap... didn’t think it was possible. Need to try this.
Apex detail and forensic detail are the two best CZcams detailers. Change my mind
Jon is awesome! Cheers!
uuuh AMMO NYC? Mind changed.
Amazing information and video as always. Great work, thank you Sir.
Thank you for the video. It looks awesome!
Great video. Thanks. Could you please advise on what is the best way to remove mini scratches and swirls from a windshield.
Great video Brian!
I love the glass latency idea. I’m a small mobile detailer here and it would be another great service to offer. But my project car I picked up, the windshield is just gunk and not smooth even after ceriGlass polishing, and additional polishing. I think it could benefit from a real pro treatment. Submitting a glassparency application isn’t agreeing to payment of a kit is it? I just want to see how much it would run for the basic kit. Again, I’m just a small detailer that offers mobile services for interior but I could expand a little to this.
That maxshine 3 inch rotary is a game changer I own one myself.
Big thanks for that video Brian, I have to polish the windshield of my two cars...this video is right in time !
Be patient with it...they can be very stubborn and fight you all the way. Keep the temps down. You will be fine.
Apex Detail I will for sure, I don’t want to mess up.
Hi Mr. Brain, nice video. I have a query. I polished and removed the scratch successfully. But after some time in sunlight, I see the buffed area clean and other area with mild haze. Just like new paint and old paint
How to clean whole windshield and match all? Pls advise
Thanx!
What mic / sound setup are you using? Your voice is clear and easy to understand.
You guys are about 20 minutes from me and I have this exact issue. Would love to make an appointment with you guys
Great video...as usual.
Thanks very informative.
👍✌️
Love your vids and your expertise
You should record it with magnifier and bright lamp again after completion to see the real difference. The comparison should be based on equality, not showing scratch with special tools and then just showing it from a distance with normal video.
Good video Brian...I like doing the windows on my polish jobs it makes the car pop...Doing the insides frustrates me...
great video. thanks for posting this. cheers.
great video, was wondering what's your buffer speed set too when polishing windshield, thanks
You need a link for a 5" Polisher. I have a 6" Craftsman circular sander/polisher but the pads have a hole in the middle to hold on. These pads, are what, stick on? Can a use an attachment for a drill? Best video on this I watched. My stupid wiper marks aren't too bad to try this. Thanks.
I think I might try this. My t-tops have so many minor scratches and I'd rather not replace them. I wonder if this would be able to help them look a lot better.
great work sir!!
I did a clay bar followed by a coarse metal polish followed by a fine metal polish. It didn’t come out nearly as nicely as yours did in the video but at least I’m not getting glare from the imperfections anymore. I’ll have to try this out!
With my luck, I’ll get it perfect and then a rock will fall off a dump truck and crack it 😅
I would like to know if light pitting can go with this method. By pitting i mean road rash. Very small spots. Annoying in the sun but they are roughly the depth of a wiper scratch
Great video. How much would you charge a customer for those services?
This is the main reason i removed my wipers and clean my car windshield manually.
What if you just wanna do a deep clean with minor scratches (washing, claying and light razorblade if needed) and only have "normal" compound and polish things (I have megs 105-205 and solo m8632) and just regular foam pads with a da polisher.. What would you recommend? I do have the mf pads from megs as well
What was the power tool you were using? What brought me here is I have some scratches on a scanner image sensor head I need to remove. The glass surface is only 9" long and 1" wide but the replacement is $300. This is worth a shot....Thanks, good job on that.
Brian, I own a windshield repair company and occasionally refer customers for replacement for scratches, like the one seen here. Approximately how much improvement was restored by your polishing methods?
Thanks for the video. I tried to buff out some scratches ( light swirls) with ceriglass and a sonax foam pad with a da but no success at all. I gave it 5-7 passes then again another 3-4 and I ve been hitting the glass for around 30 mins with no success. Also applied a lot of pressure but again nothing . Any suggestions? I didn’t let the glass heat at all and used water all along combined with ceriglass. It is very annoying when driving at night
Great video, would this make a difference on application for a lightly tinted front windshield?
How long does something like that last? And what type of wiper blades would you recommend after this type of repair? Many thanks!
After watching this I bought the Meguiar’s water spot remover. I hadn’t used it until I took delivery of my 2019 Regal TourX. I told the dealer not to do any prep since I would take care of it and would be doing a new car prep and protection anyway. After removing numerous scratches and wet sanding/ and poor polishing marks, I went to work on the windshield with all the water spots and transport covering residue. This stuff worked amazing! Perfectly smooth and clear glass, topped off with Aquapel.
I know this video is older, but that k you so much for the tips in this. I can see clearly now the spots are gone.
Great video, thank you for taking the time and uploading this great content. Question: this would not be possible to perform with a Porter Cable 7424?
Hello great video as always, so my windshield is heated would like to know if this process effects that?
I have a glass spot issue with the glass on my boat that I have not been able to correct yet. I believe the spots were left from using hard water during routine cleaning. I have tried two different glass polish products, including the 3M Professional Glass Polish but have had no positive result. I thought the 3M product would have cut the glass a bit but no. I am using glass polishing pads and applying by hand. The space behind the glass is limited, may not be able to get rotary machine behind the glass. The spot deposits are on both sides of the tempered glass. I'm guessing my next options is to wet sand, if so what grit should I start with?
I have some scratches on my glass I need to polish out. I have some optical grade polish but not the desire. I’d rather watch you do it.
Hi. Need some advice.. Ive cut n polish glass on my door.. But the light swirls is there.. What step do u usually do for light swirls..
do you need the "semi permanent coating" to protect it, or will it be ok without it? how bad would it be to not d o that, will it get micriscratches again failry quickly or sun damage, water damage etc? what does the "semi permanent coating" do? (sorry i have no idea how all this works)
Total novice a out pomishing glass here. I bought a used Mercedes E350c which is in great shape and low miles, but in sunlight there are a lot of little "sparkles" in the windshield.
I have a small, handheld, battery operated "sonic" polisher I used to polish light swirls on a red Firebird.
With the Maguire product here and the right pads, would that be likely to remove any superficial damage without running the risk of damaging the windshield?
I’ve removed scratches to an acceptable level using ceraglass, misting water, a rayon pad, and a 3 inch da polisher with an 8mm throw. However I don’t know how to remove the haze I’ve created. Any tips for which combo I should use? I have access to lots of polishes and pads.
Some more supra information Bri just love watching your videos Dave ( uk )
Nice result.
I used cerium oxide with a polishing wheel for general clean up. It is not a fun job.
Did you have success? Did it leave any hazing?
Did you have success? Did it leave any hazing?
@@Jmanmadness23 No hazing. Nothing was bad, but it didn't clean up as strongly as I was hoping; that's probably why there was no hazing, lol.
I only have one scratch on my windscreen. The wiper blade slipped off and the claw that holds it swept across the glass about 5 times before I realised. I think I'm going to need something stronger like a brick to fix it
My wipers made same scratches. Of course right in the line of sight. I don’t have all these tools. Can you give me advice best way to handle the scratches
dude.....i just found this channel. I have a crew cab pickup truck that I bought used. all 4 passenger windows and rear window have these super fine scratches all over them, like someone used fine steel wool to clean windows. would u think this would work on my truck???
First time you used the polisher was that a black finishing pad and glass cleaner?
Is there any reason I should't use my "Orbital" polisher to do this? I only have an Orbital polisher.
HI BRIAN HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION MY WINDOWS ON MY LEXUS R NOT DAMAGED I JUST WANT TO GIVE THEM A REAL GOOD CLEANING I HAVE WINDOW CLEANING PADS AND A FEW BUFFERS WHAT SHOULD I USE SHOULD I USE A WINDOW POLISH LIKE IN THE VIDEO OR IS THAT TO EXTREAM PLEASE LET ME KNOW CHERRS!!!
Hi Brian do you think this technique would work on Car Wash Windows that are lightly scratched, and chemically etched?
Brian should I run an interface pad with the rayon pad?
Which pad are you using initially with the waterspot remover? Wool?
If we use foam pads, can the foam pads be used for paint down the road or should the pads only be used for glass going forward?
Sounds like you’re the person I should’ve brought my vehicle to you instead of the shop that my car is at right now. They are trying to fix all the scratches they created in my windows by removing water spots. As well as all the scratches all over my black trim
I have an 08 4runner with hundreds of small windshield pits. What should I do? Window replacement or resurface? Thanks.
What's the first pad you start with? Foam? You show three pads. What's the progression?
Does your average experienced detailer do this job when you detail your car? Or is this specifically done when searching for a glass repair technician or body shop guy?
you need the patience of a god for this.
Is the glassparency product a ceramic or polymer base ? Went their website couldn’t find anything. Great video. Big question do you prefer this protection for glass over other glass ceramic coatings ?
Polymer....I prefer it after testing durability. If prepped properly...this stuff is the real deal. My customers eat it up.
LOL the air freshener @5:57
Can I use maguires ultimate compound+polish on a windshield to get rid of swirls in the glass
You have NO idea how hard it is to get someone to buff out windshield scratches. None of the detailers or autoglass repair places around me will do it.
TRUEE ALSO IN SURINAME
Seriously. So worthless
Sameeeee
Thanks Brian. Can you use a 5 inch backing plate on the Maxshine mini rotary?
Absolutely...it is what I have attached to it the most.
@@apexdetail85 that's great. Wanted to purchase it for the use of the mini polisher. Never used a rotary but seems like a good machine to start. Thanks Brian
Brain can I use rubbing compound by hand to right
would 3D one with orange foam pad do for minor streaks correction?
Hi, May i ask for an advice regarding my windshield. please.. first, i used a RainX(hydrophobic solution for rain) then my uncle used a Acid rain solution 5 days after i put on a RainX solution. then my windshield is not a good as it looks and not clear anymore. it has a haze and glare and degree when you are inside the car looking outside. can you suggest what should I do to removed it. please? Thank you and more power.
Is it safe to buff your windshield? many detailing companies here in the Philippines don't do that or don't recommend buffing windshield scratches as it might get broken.
if you dont have a rotary polisher will a heavy duty orbital polisher still do the trick? just with more patience (take longer)? or will it not work...
Great video. Do you have any suggested last stage products that can be purchased by the consumer? I am using AquaPel at the moment as a repellent and it works great but I have to be more like 50mph before the water will run off the windshield so would like something more hydrophobic.
Polish Angel Rain 9h...just did a vid on it recently. Very durable and easy to apply. Can do 3 cars with the kit.
@@apexdetail85 Thanks. I'll check it out.
Would be nice to see an exact list of all the products you use in this video 👍🏽
Yeah that's pretty standard to have Amazon links.
Can you provide a video on how to do a tear down on the torq 10fx thanks! Having hard time getting into it. Need to change the grease. Thanks
I will push it towards the front of the list...the 3401 is next.
Thank you! I appreciate it
If I were to pay to have this done, would it be cheaper to just replace the winshield?
Great tutorial video! Do you have any idea how to remove acid burn on windshield? I forgot to wipe off immediately. It has some droplet marks and i can't remove it.
I have found that mother mag and aluminum polish will work with this as well.
Hmmh...will give that a shot.
Oh really???
This is great info
Hi, I was trying to polish the windshield of a Porsche 911 and the pad had formed some sort of haze in the area (I am not an expert and I was using a regular polishing pad). I tried the same thing in a different car and nothing happened. I am confused,Why did that happened, and how can I fix it? Any idea?

Why dont you lift the wipers to work on entire glass area?
Excellent video, but sloppy guy that I am, I’d tape off the paint. 😀
So if you have a ton of vertical stcratches from rolling your windows up and down--this will get that out?
I actually messed my glass up once I used the carpro pad and at some point it must of had a speck of dirt on it left mini circles the size of nickel on my windshield now I’m afraid to do glass since
Blow out the pad with forced air frequently.
How much does this process cost for a four door sedan if persay I would have you guys do it for me.
