    Love the Toyota sweater (4runner owner), also an owner of a 2018 Teryx 4 LE! Thanks for the video demo!

    That's a good idea. Good job. I'd definitely do this if I had a mid engine machine.

    I am planning on doing this, combined with removing both cats and heat wrapping the exhaust. Might as well do them all when I'm in there.

      I got this done yesterday. I went on a long ride in 94 degree heat and it's still warm but not nearly a hot, especially in the rear end which was my main focus. Before it was unbearable in any heat with the windshield on, and we would take it off, but now it's usable with the windshield on. I'm going to install a fan under the driver seat to pull the heat out of the engine bay so it doesn't come up into the cab.

    Like this video I might do it. Wondered about using dynamat. What they put in your trunk to lessen the rattle of subwoofers

    Thank you for all the info and data. Do you think exhaust wrap would help any? Also, if you had a brand new Teryx (still factory clean), do you think you could do the bulk of the work by only removing the skid plates and working from below? I just got a 2020 yesterday and was thinking of doing this before it got dirty. Just in the yard, you can tell it is hot. I knew this problem ahead of time as I had already watched a ton of videos and reviews before ever deciding on what to get.

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 4 lety

      Yeah exhaust wrap was something I was look as well. Honestly I don’t believe taking the skid plates off would be a good option. This work really needs to be done by stripping the inside out. -Garrett

    Thanks for the video I have a 2018 2 seater it is noisy the noise doesn't really bother me and the Heat I agree with you on I ended up getting a fan that plugs into where you charge your phone or what have you I have a question as far as your tires go you change the front it looks like did you go with the same size as the ones in the rear from the factory

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 5 lety

      The rears run 11 inches wide and 9 inches in the front stock I believe. I went with 10 inches all around.

  • @Outlaw1492
    @Outlaw1492 Před 5 lety +4

    I did this on my 2014 Teryx4. It did help with the heat a little but not the noise. I recently installed my own snorkel kit for the air intake and CVT. Mainly because I wanted to keep my CVT belt cooler. Which it did along with an inline fan/blower. (I have set up with a temp gauge and manual switch that I control when it starts to go over 190 degrees.) by doing both of these it dramatically reduced the heat and noise in the cab area. Keep in mind your air intake is directly under the dash in between the driver/ passenger seats. As soon as I can I will be posting a video of what it looks like for other Teryx owners. Be safe and share the trail!

    I have a 2018 Teryx4 and I dont really mind the heat since I use my rig mostly for hunting. We dont ride alot in the summer time in AZ unless its in the high country. So the noise factor. Is the V-twin just a loud motor by design or is it mostly the stock exhuast?

    • @DerangedOffRoad

      I would say a little longer for me because of filming. If you do it right I think about 3 to 4 hours total. I broke mine up in 3 different nights.

    I'd be curious to find out the impact on belt life and overall engine coolant temps

    • @DerangedOffRoad
      @DerangedOffRoad  Před 5 lety

      So far over 600 miles in and no issues with belt and diffidently no issues with motor/ coolant temps. I’m pushing just over 1,400 miles since new with the stock OEM belt. It still might be to soon to see if it affects belt, but I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for watching -Garrett

    • @Wrenchmonkey1
      @Wrenchmonkey1 Před 5 lety +2

      If heat shielding affects engine temps, something is wrong with your radiator/coolant situation. There is absolutely no reason that your engine should rely on dumping heat into the cab in order to maintain proper operating temps.
      I've seen no issues with the belt since doing heat shielding on mine over a year ago, but if you have concerns about that, you could always install a blower on the belt air intake for a few bucks...

      Just rebuilt the motor on my commander 1000 and these are even worse with heat. Sounding like all brands need to install this type of stuff at the factory!

    It’s a shame to see men wanting to isolate the sound of a 90 degree v-twin.
