What you can see very well in this comparison is Tiskaridze's very precise coordination of all body parts, the extremely clean guidance of the arms and control of the body axis, head movement and direction of gaze throughout the entire performance. This shows fabulous technique and enables focussing on the movement with the music in order to create stage presence. In contrast, with the invariably brilliant students, who also visibly prepare for the athletic elements.
What an amazing gift Tsiskaridze has, to not only be an incomparable dancer of unique style, but also to be known as an outstanding and demanding teacher and coach. Having been such an extremely hard worker all his life, he is understandably demanding and has achieved great results with his coaching, as one can see in this most interesting compilation. Bravo to Ovcharenko, Rodkin & Geraschenko!

Цискаридзе, конечно, блестящий танцор. Он уже мэтр, педагог и просто стал эталоном и мерилом в мужском танце. Его ученик Родькин обладает потрясающей лёгкостью. Первый раз такое вижу. Создан для прыжка. Как будто это ему ничего не стоит. Ноги красивенные.
На лицах у всех, кроме Цискаридзе видна тяжелая, со страхом падения, работа. Цискаридзе улыбается даже в самых сложных местах вариаций и летает как перышко. Слава Пестову!!!
Grazie per questa compilation. Generalmente si dice che l' allievo supera il maestro, ma non è questo il caso. I due ragazzi sono bravissimi e si vede che hanno avuto una buona scuola, ma Nikolai è un astro che brilla di luce propria e oscura tutto intorno a sé. Ce ne vorrà del tempo per avere un degno sostituto.Nicky💓💓💓🍵🇮🇹
Спасибо за эту подборку. Обычно говорят, что ученик превосходит учителя, но это не так. Два мальчика очень хороши, и видно, что у них была хорошая школа, но Николай - звезда, которая сияет своим собственным светом и тьмой вокруг себя. Потребуется некоторое время, чтобы найти достойную замену Никe.
Можно сравнивать до бесконечности, но талант Цискаридзе никому не затмить. Можно прыгнуть выше, крутануться быстрее, ещё что-то изобразить, но балет не спорт, выше-быстрее-сильнее не прокатывает. Балет про красоту, а в красоте Цискаридзе равных нет: рост, сложение, но главное - невероятная красота линий, необыкновенная тягучесть движений, руки - мечта балерин, всегда ставят точку в конце каждого! движения. И всё это помножено на невероятную музыкальность, которая не приносится в жертву техничности.
Как много им еще предстоит трудиться. Цискаридзе просто летает по сцене. Это, конечно, адский труд.

Rodkin is perfection
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful video of my favorite dancer and his students. Despite the obvious talents and beauty of Ovcharenko, Rodkin, and Gerashenko which show glimpses of Tsiskaridze's greatness, none of them could even begin to capture the extraordinary thrill and chills that watching Nicolai Tsiskaridze dance gives me. As a performer, he was kissed by God and can never be equalled.
Rodkin reminds me of Baryshnikov, but he has his own individual charm and charisma, bravo!
Thanks for this exciting compilation, Bundu Ballerina. Good to see the men being showcased. They often get overlooked I fear.

it is impossible to compare the dance of Tsiskaridze and his pupils, I think. Tsiskaridze’s performance class is the highest, inherent only to units.
His pedagogical gift opened the way to the stage for the talented Rodkin and Ovcharenko and for the not very capable Gerashchenko. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to be grateful.

Мне кажется, в некоторых записях Николай существенно старше своих учеников. Хотя он всегда танцует достойно ( а чаще прекрасно)), возраст имеет значение для того, чтоб сравнивать впечатление. Денис очень хорош. В Артеме при всём внешнем изяществе, мне обычно не хватает какой-то одухотворенности что -ли) Что очень важно - все разные . Геращенко, на мой взгляд, вряд ли подходят премьерские партии.
А почему тут этого Геращенко сравнивают? Не потому ли, что его хаял Цискаридзе?
В недавнем интервью Н.Стрижак, Цискаридзе заявил,что,мол,сейчас, в начале 2023 года, в Большом вообще он не видит ни одного приличного Принца - Щелкунчика.

There is a Farouk Ruzimatov Rehearsal DVD out there which I once purchased at considerable cost from another well known balletomane. Wish it could be seen on CZcams, it is magnificent.
Движения Цискаридзе- это Абсолютная Красота, но помимо этого каждое движение - слова, которые его герой произносит и этот текст абсолютно укладывается в музыку; что касается остальных - мало того, что сами движения не всегда верны и красивы, они просто движения и больше ничего, кроме тяжелой работы; все они учились у Николая Максимовича, но к сожалению, если у артиста балета нет внутреннего содержания, ничего тут не сделаешь, а прыгать лучше или хуже наверно можно научится
What I know about ballet can be written on a postage stamp but Nicolas has amazing back suppleness like he has ehlers danlos hyper mobility syndrome but he can’t or all his joints would have blown out years ago just an uneducated fans ideas

Конечно Николая Максимовича не превзойти еще долго никому в музыкальности и артистизме. Для сравнения последние партии злого гения : Цискаридзе взаимодействует с окружением на сцене, он в роли, не просто исполняет вращения и прыжки. У Геращенко только тяжелый труд и спорт. А какое у него лицо в Пахите! Бедный.
Для Солора нет ничего красивей, чем костюм как у Николая Цискаридзе. Родькин с такой шикарной фигурой и ногами и такой не удачный костюм. Не видно всей красоты ног и движений. Жаль.
Родькин хороший акробат. Только истинный артист Цискаридзе!

молодому Николаю нет равных ни в технике, ни в артистизме.То есть ,там где ему не сильно за 30.Посмотрите на 1,10.насколько у Артема недокручены прыжки.Он приземляется ,практически,лицом назад.
Ovcharenko wobbles too much in these videos. I like Rodkin but he often comes across as a bit too 'cold'. My favorite role of his is Kurbsky in Ivan the Terrible.

I assume this was chronological? I will annoy people here and say that, despite his huge jumps and multiple turns, younger Tsikaridze was really sloppy (watch his feet and how he enters and exits these moves). Around the time this Bayadere and Paquita were shot, he seemed to have sharpened considerably. I finally just had to accept that the not-quite-attitude (and not quite "arabesque") of his back leg on jumps was just a Russian idiosyncracy. His speed, esp in things like maneges was incredible. Rodkin and Ovcharenko seem to represent a newer generation where clean technique was as important as how high you could jump, and I quite like them both. I was unfamiliar with Gerashchenko but really liked his Evil Genius. Thanks, as always, for a fun compilation!
I agree completely! Also I think Rodkin especially has a very clean and unmannered technique that I prefer, despite the speed and elevation Tsiskaridze has.

@@minissa2009 It isn't just his speed. Many dancers can show off great speed. It is his great lyricism, his flow, his impeccable musicality, his dependable and supportive partnering, his stage personality, i.e. charisma and not least his incredibly beautiful leaps that seem to float, his perfect lines and his great acting. Much of this had to be seen in the theatre to be experienced and appreciated. His unique style, including the softer and more expressive us of his hands etc. has been misinterpreted in the West but is valued with greater understanding in Russia itself, where he is deservedly considered a legend.
@@dancingbluecrane2813 I agree with your comment and I would add that his jumps also are very light, they really seem effortless. Also, thank you for highlighting his partnering skills, and again I would add that not only was he trustworthy but he also was connecting extremely well with all of his partners. He might have been sloppy especially at the beginning of his career but indeed I think that back then musicality and respect of the tempo was more important than stretched feet and knees. I don't mind that as I believe that nowdays clean technique and lines are the priority and the focus on them is against other qualities like ballon. This shift in focus might also be the reason why classical ballet is danced at extremely slow tempos.

Цискаридзе - лучший Солор всех времён и народов. Фантастика. Родькин - тот случай, когда ученик, в некотором смысле, превзошёл своего учителя. Это ли не мечта педагога?

Я заметила, что они не выносят никакой критики в его адрес или, если кого-то считают лучше. На НМЦ балет клином не сошелся. Мир балета больше сцены Большого Театра в Москве.
сравнивать АБСОЛЮТ с кем бы то ни было - это смешно... его учеников можно сравнить. но для этого в ленте не должно быть Цискаридзе...он просто вышел на сцену. стал в 5-ю позицию , всё - он выиграл...

He dancers better when he has more weight on him. Compare the first three videos to the ones that follow. It's clear to see he is happier when he is fatter 🐾🐾🐾🐻

Il maestro Tsiskaridze asfalta gli allievi. Dei tre gerashchenko é il meno dotato, gli altri due sono guardabili, anche piacevoli a volte, ma nulla di lontanamente paragonabile a Kolya.( E avete incluso Giselle che certo non é la miglior interpretazione di tsiskaridze! )
I think Tsiskaridze refuses to recognize Gerashchenko as his pupil.

@@user-bb5qv2km5m It's a long story. Nasty Bolshoi artistic director Filin was offering money to Nikolai's students to leave him, he was jealous of him and hated him. None of the students took his offer and stayed with Nikolai except Ovcharenko, he took the money, left his class and was badmouthing him later when he became Vaganova rector. To me it's as low as someone can get.

Овчаренко на этих видео не впечатлил, Родькин прыгает шикарно ,но на этом всё, ни харизмы,ни взаимодействия со зрителем или хотя бы партнерами по сцене, Геращенко это прям совсем плохо , ощущение усталости, напряжения и полного не понимания зачем он на сцене. Может если поменять педагогов в большом и первым двум подтянуть их слаьые места, то стали бы отличными танцорами. Геращенко к сожалению наверное ни кто не поможет.
Ovcharenko was not a "pupil" of Tsiskaridze, the latter was his tutor at the Bolshoi Theater for just over a year. Thank God, Ovcharenko did not get anything from Tsiskaridze.
Родькин- лучший Зигфрид, Цискаридзе- лучший Солор. Овчаренко тоже хорош. Родькин-красавец, его можно смотреть бесконечно. Видео в Ютубе с НМЦ обычно плохого качества (не танца, а съемки). Родькин в Жизели с Осиповой - граф, а НМЦ (на мой взгляд) просто чёрненький не очень красивый артист(эстетически). Он танцует гениально, но Родькин в Жизели лучше.

@@BytomGirl Are you joking? He is one of my fav ballet dancer, as I said with in time he developed a new approach and method to dance tecnique that's probably why his pupils seem better than he is.
