Hm... I heard they do this because they've slept so long, their legs have fallen asleept and stretching gets the blood flowing again.
The thing is that they stretch, even though they have not just wokrn up.
A pointless video: It's obvious why your cat stretches when you come home. They're bored being alone all day and know that they'll soon be getting affection and food.
