I save all pre 83 pennies and separate them in by decade. 50's 60's 70's and 80 81 and 82's. When I was growing up pre 65 silver dimes and quarters were given back in change constantly. That being said that was the last precious metals that we had in common coinage. Now copper pennies are the new precious metals of future collectors. Zinc pennies will never have a precious metal value. So anything pre 83 will in the future have value other than the condition of the coin. Just watch and see. Won't happen soon but 10-20 or 30 years from now they will be worth much more just due to the metal content.
You also need to check the 82s. Some are zinc
@@PsychoMantis308 fact
Bonus: If you work retail (cashier specifically), getting copper pennies as a literal goldmine. Bring a 50 cent roll everyday and switch them out with your zinc. Also helps pass time
I do collect every single one I find.
In other news,
Happy hunting to all who participate in this modern day mining adventure.
May we all find a rare error one day and know our time was well spent : )
To Mr Couch Collectibles:
I am considering becoming a coin grader. Have you ever become one? If so, any advice?
Secondly,
I've heard there are bags of pennies you can order from a bank, is this true?
Started checking my change again because of you my Dad taught me coin collecting but got out of it now after 15 or so years I've jumped back in the game because of your videos I'm 24 now
Same dude
You forgot to add in the cost of melting the pennies. And it is legal to melt as long as you aren't melting for profit. What you can do is melt them into figurines and sell them for the value of your craftsmanship, which has nothing to do with the value of the copper itself.
I separate my copper cents from my zinc
I don't even bother collecting the new shield cents. There is nothing appealing to me about them
Except double dies
I got 2 2024 pennies overseas doubleing
Thanks for the info
I have two that are blank although you could almost see a wheat back on one. Are those just blanks or errors and do they hold value?
It is a felony to melt pennies for its copper content
You inspired me to do this
Ive been going through mine sifting n deciding....
Keep all pre 83 cents. It's a long term investment. Seriously.
@@timgrant8729 yeah I've been saving all my 82's weighing in at 3.1 also..... Only have one small date but yet to find one with that weight... I think I will eventually
What about the 1942 wheat penny
What about 1982 small date?
You’d have to weigh it. Copper Pennies are 3.11 grams, zinc Pennies are 2.5 grams
❤
Behooves😂
Yes, behooves. 🧐
I imagine an alternate universe in which pennies and dimes flip in size and pennies are copper-nickel and dimes are copper plated zinc.
I have 1982d large date
its the 1982-D SMALL date weighing 3.1 grams thats the money maker
1982d small date
Very nice... Thank you so much, i always learn somthing new here... Penny coll't. Is great.. I have way too many, ill start selling soon..maby buy a old world-war-2 jeep, deep woods camping.. Thanks again...🎉..
Hi
At the risk of sounding selfish [DUDE don't sound the bell about it XD]
For real tho,
As someone who collects it, it makes me nervous that arguably the FED can stop our fun at any time by taking it themselves. I hope they do not do so. Imagine if loomis turned against us...
Zinc pennies are awful
Perhaps if you’re earning near minimum wage, then, yes, it might behoove you to search through hundreds of thousands of Lincoln Cents monthly to find those pre-1983 Bronze examples. 🧐 😲😳😬 🤣😂🤣
