There are many others just as good. The guys I know winning SQ comps aren't using the 7909. Clarion DRZ 9255, Sound Monitor CDT-450X, McIntosh, Panasonic Bottlheads, Pioneer P99, Clarion Addzest, Sony C90 with 4000X combo is supposed to be about the best ever made. Sony now has a a radio that plays DSD media. The Alpine 7909 is great but not the only great and I have never heard it called the best by the ppl who win trophies in MECA and IASCA. That said.... I am doing a 90s build and would kill for one lol
Good luck keeping many of those decks you mention RUNNING. They are junk build wise. The Sony C90 is way past its prime and is the most unreliable deck you could ever suffer with. I tried doing the ES route 10 years ago and went through deck after deck before giving up. Alpine forever. If we told the truth, "the guys you know winning SQ comps arent using a 7909" probably because they cant afford one. Very few people can afford one anymore.

I have 21/300 that I recently bought but missing harness which means I will be making one. I have all the wiring figured out except the two brown/white wires on pins 5 and 6 of the 12 pin molex. I believe one of them is for aux in enable but I don't know what the other is for, or which pin is which (5 or 6). Any help would be kindly appreciated.
Never had the pleasure of owning one of these, a true reference classic, Alpine set the tone, man this hobby cost me a fortune.
