- Watch what happens when a Chivalry 2 Pro on mouse and key board switches to a controller for the first time with the default controls that any console player would be using when playing chivalry 2. There are some serious concerns as for the chivalry 2 console community as controller is very clearly the worse option and if the game developers would give console the ability to rebind controls it would help bridge the skill gap.

Having you struggle so much with jabs, crouching, and counters has validated my experience so much. I hate playing on console but it’s so satisfying when I do well.
Pc players think we’re exaggerating when we say the punching and crouching is messed up

Skill issue
So happy about this. I’m a console player that has struggled multiple times against pc that are whack out of their damn mind 💀 the X button on controller is used for literally everything from reviving your teammates, grabbing a torch, getting arrows from a supply crate to even emoting. Can’t type in chat, and the worst of all, can’t rebind our settings. Thank you so much for bringing light to the controller community ✌️
you touched on it in the video but countering overheads is not comfortable on controller it requires both index and middle fingers on the shoulder buttons meaning your middle finger isnt supporting the weight properly and the controller sits awkwardly in your hand
Love the challenge you gave your self the jab I got use to double clicking it but in agreement of neededing to change key binding keep up the good work

you can feint the same attack canceling your swing (X on xbox) or blocking. But yes, the counter feel very off sometimes. Sometimes it even shows the blue counter icon and you still get hit somehow

I ended up getting a Razor chroma wolverine. Its extra button placements are great and you can then move some of the needed buttons to different spots but I eventually built myself a new high end computer and now i use m&B.
Yuuuup you addressed all the frustrations we have accurately. The same attack feint isn't difficult but to do consistently during 1vX is challenging. I only crouch when doing slashes and overheads cuz crouching while trying to aim your stab is aids.

Been playing console since launch. Tried playing M&K on my PC for this game and i just cant get used to it. To much time with a controller. That being said, your arguments about the crouch are perfectly valid. Console needs (AND HAS NEEDED SINCE LAUNCH) the ability to rebind and interact with chat. Also, "alt key" is left analoge stick click or L3. Hold L3 and you'll alt swing
Honestly the only thing I find a true disadvantage on controller is throwing items. It’s so damn janky sometimes but I discovered that if you tap the left bumper ever so slightly before the right (like flams in percussion)
it works almost every time.
Might have to test that one out, It worked for me sometimes but I kept overheading
bro that first game was painful to watch 😂😂 respect nonetheless, but the reason you feel so slow is because you aren’t sprinting/ don’t have sprint by default on, you can’t same attack feint because you don’t have the setting enabled that gives you a button to do the alternate attack direction rather than just relying on camera movement ‼️ and obviously that sensitivity is not competitively adequate hahaha
Console does get the bad end of the stick, I had a controller with paddles to make a decent layout which in turn altered my menu navigation. It does feel like an older game when played on controller very clunky. There was times even with a custom layout I triggered suicide animation. Throwing was abysmal like you said not worth it. Archery feels like you got a magnet arrow that hits your teamates armour. Other issues overall with the game class menu should be available in the lobby. I remember for quite a few levels starting the game thinking I was locked out classes used halberd on footman for a good while. If players could take the time and read up on classes and weapons there would be better players for sure.
I dont even bother with feints anymore. You have have to cancel a swing with a block, then a swing. It's really awkward timing on a controller.

@@Nuggz1 I feel like it just makes the crosshairs drift because your team mates are near by. It won’t help when you try to lead them either. I have mine turned off in TO.

Feel my pain.
I'm around level 576 on console and countering on overheads consistently is still difficult for me. Crouching isn't too bad since I'm used to it at this point. Jabbing itself does feel kind of busted sometimes where I hit someone dead on and it doesn't work. But I haven't had issues where I try to jab and I end up crouching. I hardly ever throw because the mechanism is so shitty.
I didn't even learn how to same-side feint until sometime after level 200.

I just dont use crouch/jab cos tornbanner capped me with their uncustomizeble keybinds
It’s not that bad when you’ve spent your whole life with controller. And personally I never had a problem with jabs and crouching.
Just hold RS for crouch, and tap RS for jab. Not sure why so many people struggle much with something that simple.
Just make sure you never have toggle crouch on…
I play on both, and I notice the fluidity is much better on PC. Chaining combos, dodging, counters just seem smoother.
On PC I can move so smoothly, ducking and dodging through 1v x fights no problem, on controller i had to play super carefully
You can same attack feint on controller just hit x it’s hard to get the timing down though
More accurately, same side feinting can be done by tapping block and the attack input simultaneously... But yes, the timing is crucial if done from neutral... This is much easier when counter feinting as the timing of inputs doesn't matter as much. However, I've yet to figure out after 750 hours how to same side feint off of a riposte.
I think I figured it out kinda by the end it's just not the same as on k an m

I got an elite controller recently with the most messed up settings, but finally can do what i really want. Console really needs a remap option.
I honestly doubt tb does it at this point but I cross my fingers every update
I love fighting games and sidescrollers on controller, but goddamn can't play anything which requires camera movement with the right stick. Probably bcs the only console I owned was Sega genesis. Also I believe Console chiv players love to kick often because the the button is B on controller (hate kicking often can't react to it on 60-70 ping) Respect for good players on controller.
I think the jab and kick button should be reversed or something Jab should have been on the B key it's the better attack

Not going to lie first person is so good for aiming. We dueled like 4 times and I hit you once, which makes me believe I should be in third person
you should do some 1v1s on conslel becues it is diffrent in my experince than team objective
I really wish they would let us remap some of the buttons cause yeah crouch is so annoying 😂 oh also, having a controller with pedals helps so much, I remapped my overhead cause the bumper is so awkward to press
The overhead key placement is bad, I was using a pro controller so next time I use controller I might do some reminding to try it out
You can feint to the same attack but it has to be a counter feint

Pretty sure it takes more stamina on controller. But some people are saying in the comments that you can also do this by pressing the X button at the right time but the timing is hard. Not sure on that method yet because I wasn't aware of it.

tb really should add support for remappings on the controller. seriously the crouch / jab is the worse. i can live with everything else.

He plays better than me at my best (keyboard) while he is playing handicapped learning to use a controller.
After this, i wonder which issues you think are a matter of you just not veing used to the inputs vs actual, objective flaws. For instance, throwing is jsut awful and somply doesnt function correctly. But then, someone who's used to the control scheme can jab and crouch without issue. So having tried controller, what would you say are the objective flaws?
I feel like if I spent a week using it I would get used to it. Crouching is annoying just because you have to long press the stick so it's never instant like you need it to be. The movement is also a problem, on m and k you can stop on a dime change directions easily. The controller sticks are not good for advanced movement
Interesting you say that since it is widely accepted that Joysticks are a lot more suited to complex, nuanced movement. What makes you feel otherwise in this situation?
@Polybox The issue is stopping instantly and changing direction instantly. On m&k it takes no time at all it takes more time to slow down and stop moving with the joysticks. Also the camera is much harder to aim for controller for just about every game in the world
change the deadzone settings to 0.05 for easier / faster movement@@Nuggz1
I don’t personally think controller is at huge disadvantage against pc. From what I’ve noticed most controller players who say that either don’t want to take time to learn the game or don’t want to learn. The button layout isn’t user friendly but through time you can learn how to play with it. That being said it will still get you killed ( crouching when you’re trying to jab). I think for everyday pub play and average duel server play there is no real disadvantage between controller and k&m. I think when it ulcers into the higher skilled play is where you’d start to see it. I have 1200 hours in this game and don’t consider myself to be that highly skilled. The only disadvantages I think there are besides the jab/crouch button is frame rate and 1st person POV with the right setting and monitor is actually larger on pc. (Just what I’ve been told). I learned a lot of this from the Poleaxe (medic muffin on yt) who plays on controller on pc. Overall I did enjoy the video and I’m glad Nuggz tried it out and can feel for us console players on what we’re dealing with in game!
Also you have 2 different options for which side you want your attack coming from on controller. You have movement input which means your swing will come from whichever direction you’re moving or left stick click which is what I use. You press left stick and attack for alt attack without pressing block. To do a same attack without blocking first you have to attack tap block and attack again. I hope this was informative for any controller noobs like myself

What would you say is the biggest thing holding back controller/console players?
For me it was Accuracy, Movement, and button placement. But remapping buttons would help a lot.
And turning up sensitivity sacrifices more accuracy, imo.

Each one comes with a few cosmetics. But you can always upgrade and buy the other version in the shop. I personally prefer the special addition because it's OG from when the game came out but kings addition has some good skins too

im like lvl170 from my ps4 and always play with controller so it's not hjard for me.Only the trowing...
You can adjust to it very easily after using it for 100s of hours for sure
