not impossible, the chances are just extremely low, I believe it was less then 1% unless it has a status effect and its health is in the red 🤔 I normally just buy 100 pokeballs and keep trying till I get it 😂 takes a while but very satisfying to see a legendary in a regular pokemon instead of a ultra, timer, or dusk ball lol
You know what's even better I always thought that if somebody did do that like Ash did to any types of Pokemon to prevent them from escaping their captured by Pokeball is the instantly grab the ball and hold it until you hear the sweet captured sound that is definitely the smartest thing any Pokemon trainer should have been doing
TBH, the opposite kinda happened in the Pokemon adventures manga. The main antagonist of the Emerald arc used his Surskit's psybeam to keep the Pokeball open so Jirachi couldn't be captured by Emerald
I've always loved to imagine that the difference between catching and not catching a pokemon was if you had the grip strength to hold the ball closed with one hand or not.
Groudon was actually the first pokémon I ever caught with a regular pokéball. Had to use false swipe and throw a status effect on him, but it eventually worked.
Before I knew how timer balls (?) worked, I was using regular pokeballs to use up turns to make it more likely to work, and I caught Heatran in a regular pokeball. That may have been the highlight of my life...
I’m not surprised, Ash was able to carry a Cosmoen by himself with his own two hands even though it’s the heaviest Pokémon out there, so holding to close a Pokeball with a Groudon in it is child’s play.

So is that means the difference between PokeBall and ultraball is just ultraball is a bit harder to open
😂😂 groudon is so confused
It got caught in its confusion
The looks on its face is priceless 🤣
Was it really impossible to catch them legendary with just a poke ball?
Groudon was my very first legendary.
No it’s possible, just hard
Its just a 1 in 200 chance or somthing beacuse the catch rate for legendarys it trash

The pokeballs shatter when they break out, that's why you lose them...
“Oh yea? WITH THIS POKEBALL I SUMMON RESHIRAM” (I accidentally caught it with a pokeball first try)
I always imagined as a kid that whenever my character tries to catch a legendary, they just do this and force it close.

Holding the ball down looked diabolical.

*Ash's so strong, blud casually pulled out a Groudon out of the grass and dragged it out☠️🗿*
Groudon: Hah, joke's on you, you can't catch a legendary in a pokeball!
Ash: 100 percent catch rate cheat.
Groudon: ...shit
next up : ash tries to open a master ball to make it not catch the pokemon
You can not even IMAGINE how many times in my life I daydreamed of doing EXACTLY THIS after an hour of failed captures on a legendary.😂

I've always loved to imagine that the difference between catching and not catching a pokemon was if you had the grip strength to hold the ball closed with one hand or not.

“A person who thinks all the time has nothing to think about except thoughts”
This is what we imagined back in the early 2,000s on our GameBoy, holding A+B as the ball closed.
To be fair my man held and carried a cosmoem with ease so holding down Groudon in the pokeball is pretty normal
"Damn, he's smarter than i thought" - one guy who created PokeBalls

I like to imagine that, yeah, a trainer could do this, but the pokemon inside would probably be preparing to throw hands the moment they’re free
Ash tried in the anime and got sat down so quick💀
The first guy that stop Pokémon from getting out of the Pokémon ball
Groudon: Where's the exit door?
Pokeball: What door? 😂
"You can't catch a legendary with a pokeball." My current playthrough of Pearl would beg to differ.

Groudon was flabbergasted 😂

Looks extremely dangerous, also if you have enough poke balls and patience you can catch a legendary with a regular pokeball
In the Origin anime, we see that the balls actually break when a capture fails, which also justify why you lose them once you tried.
Groundon: Jokes on you. You cant -
Ash: Uno reverse/Law breaker
I’m not surprised, Ash was able to carry a Cosmoen by himself with his own two hands even though it’s the heaviest Pokémon out there, so holding to close a Pokeball with a Groudon in it is child’s play.
