After arriving at Islam Karimov Airport in Tashkent, I immediately prepared everything I needed while traveling in Uzbekistan, such as exchanging, buying an e-SIM card for the internet, and ordering a taxi from Islam Karimov Airport to my hotel at InterContinental Tashkent.
The distance from the airport to InterContinental Tashkent is about 8 km, and it only takes 19-20 minutes by car. I stayed for just 1 night at the InterContinental Tashkent hotel without spending a dime. How come? Yes, because I exchanged 27,000 IHG ​​points for a 1-night stay in a King Classic Room. If I paid for the room in cash, I would have to spend IDR 3.8 million per night. I got the IHG points from converting Citibank Indonesia bank points. Unfortunately, Citibank no longer issues credit card products in Indonesia. But you can still get the IHG points by buying the points when there is a 100% bonus promo.
Luckily, because I am an InterContinental Ambassador member with a Platinum Elite tier, my room reservation was upgraded up to 4 categories above to a Junior Suite Room with free access to the InterContinental Club Lounge. The price of the Junior Suite room should be around IDR 5.8 million per night, but I got it for free thanks to my loyalty status at IHG Ambassador.
Because the InterContinental Tashkent hotel is still new, the interior of the hotel is very modern and neat, as is my room in the Junior Suite Room. However, even though I am a Platinum Elite member, I still have not received complimentary breakfast. Luckily, my room was upgraded to a Junior Suite Room, so I could get access to the InterContinental Club and have free breakfast in the lounge.
My experience staying at the InterContinental Tashkent Hotel was very satisfying, the hotel staff were very friendly, even a lounge staff gave me a souvenir tote bag containing raisins and dried fruits. Moreover, because the location of this hotel is very strategic in the heart of Tashkent, this hotel is very close to the very iconic Amir Temur Square.

And to stay at a 5-star hotel as good as this in the middle of Tashkent, I really didn't spend a dime, aka free, and it was all thanks to the IHG loyalty program. Thank you.
