Hey, heroes! I'm streaming on Twitch again this weekend! On Saturday I'm playing more Final Fantasy I, then on Sunday it's Yakuza 0.

Great job, can you do Justice next? Or any of the other New Warriors or the whole team?
@@stevencommander8441pa
Meh red haired spiderman
the x-men comics have been ruined for me, and i'll stop reading them soon. still, it was nice to watch a vid about a "known yet under the radar" female character like firestar. marvel usually focuses on the powerful storm or the VERY powerful jean grey, or the scarlet witch, so this waa refreshing.
Awesome thing about Firestar is that she was created specifically for Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends because the rights to The Human Torch were in legal limbo (and had been for a while, hence why HERBIE was the 4th member of the Fantastic Four cartoon of the 60s.). Necesty being the mother of invention Firestar was born 😁
I first saw Angelica Jones on the old hit cartoon from the 1980s “Spider-Man and his amazing friends“. I’ve been wanting to hear about the comic version for sometime. Thanks for uploading this!
Much like Harley Quinn for Batman years later, this was a character that was specifically created for a show, but got so popular that she became a regular in the regular universe that she was written in.
That was such a great nostalgic animated show. However i always loved her role with the New Warriors. She was always oftened seen next to Justice
@@markcruz359 yeah, her comic version is so much more flushed out. I was a little kid when Spider-Man and his amazing friends was out. I remember being up on Saturday morning watching the premiere with the episode “the triumph of the Green goblin.“ That’s how far back I go.
that was one of the reasons I signed up for Disney+. Later, though, I ended up buying the whole series on Amazon prime, because they even had the one “banned“ episode called “the Hunt for the red skull.“
Of the three, besides, Spidey, himself, fire star had the most interesting background. And I always found her more interesting than Bobby Drake, a.k.a. iceman. I’m far from romantic, but if she was going to end up with either one of her male teammates, Spidey would’ve been the better choice, even though iceman had known her longer. She was basically Mary Jane Watson, with super powers!
But yeah, I had heard they adapted her to the regular Marvel comics universe, but I’ve never found the time to look her up and see how they did her in the comics. This video was a godsend!
Loved Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends
@@MONKEYDZETS yep. I actually saw it in real time. Glad Amazon got the full series, including the “banned“ episode called quest for the red skull.
You taught me about Harley now I know her first appearance is 9/11
Fire star is one of the most underrated heroines in Marvel and the show did wonders for her character🔥🔥🔥
The show was her first appearance, just like how Harley Quinn started on Batman The Animated Series.
She plays a major role in Fall of X right now.
She should have appeared in most of the Animated X-Men shows or in the Ultimate Spider-Man TV Show where we can see her teaming up with Spider-Man again
Seriously!!! I could totally see a movie on her in the live action marvel world!!! 😍
Agreed she's awesom and her creation was a total fluke.
Spider-man sure has some amazing friends!!! 😋
A Firestar is born!
😂😂😂😂👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Iceman and Firestar!👍🏾🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bonnie got her ass kicked and that trophy got put back where it belongs!@@zeltrax8767
When I was a kid I loved watching Spiderman and his amazing friends with Iceman n Firestar in the show. I was so disappointed when I found out they really didn't hang out in the comics.
My first exposure to Firestar was Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends from the 1981 series. I have her limited series in my comic collection. Angelica Jones is my favorite character from Marvel Comics. Originally for the show, they were going to add Johnny Storm as the third member, but because of legal issues with the rights of the Human Torch character, NBC created Firestar, and the character became popular.😊🤓
Besides, Spidey himself, she was the most interesting character on that show!
@@EVGriffinJr She sure is! Angelica is really beautiful too😍🔥
I know her because of the show Spider-Man and his amazing friends
The first story I ever read with Emma Frost in it had her stealing Storm's body. The second had her killing this kid's horse. It makes it very hard for me to sympathize with her under basically any circumstance.
Absolutely underrated. Marvel began to have more red head characters and more characters with pyro powers, so she began to disappear in the background over the age. She use to be Spider-Man best friend, but now he doesn’t even remember him, and instead replace her with Johnny Storm.
I first encountered Firestar on the animated show "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends". I remember when she first appeared in the comics in the pages of X-Men. I have a soft spot in my fandom for this character.
As long as your doing videos on red heads how about doing a video on RED NORVILLE, the red headed Thor stand in.
As always, MAKE MINE THE MERRY MARVELITE!!!!
She was made for the show to go as an opposite of iceman
What a rollercoaster of a history. Thank you for this!
Facts and fire star would make a good show.
Oh my God! I totally forgot about Firestar! I used to have a crush on this character when I was a kid. Her, Dazzler, but then much later Psylocke, Rogue, and finally Jubilee (who is still my most memorable childhood X-Men crush).
Firestar was created to prevent a lawsuit...the cartoon "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends' was originally going to have the Human Torch in it,but the cartoon was produced by Ruby-Spears and Marvel gave all rights to the Fantastic Four characters to Hanna Barbera back then so instead they created a mutant with basically the same powers...thus Firestar.
Always liked Firestar, from first seeing her on the cartoon to the New Warriors and when she joined the Avengers.
Angelica Jones is one of the most underrated X-Men characters in the late 1980s.
Firestar is so underrated. I hope they eventually have her in the MCU.
Glad that she made her way into the comics after her debut on TV.
Firestar is really cool. I hope we'll see her in the MCU soon.
Member of the New Warrior team
There are so many characters outside the well-known teams or single heroes who deserve more recognition, Firestar is definitely one of them.
I was born in '83 and came into my own in comics in the early to mid 90s. You had the New Warriors, Alpha Flight, West Coast Avengers, X-Force, the Midnight Sons; so much more going on than just the X-Men, Avengers and Fantastic Four.
That was back when Marvel wasn't corporate
yesss i love alpha flight so much. they meant so much to me as a kid because they were so diverse. i hope they come into the MCU. they're so underrated.
@hyewonderfull I didn't know until fairly recently that Jim Lee drew Alpha Flight in the late 80s before he drew the X-Men.
I have Cartoonist Kayfabe to thank for cluing me into that.
I love how she was actually growing up as time went on. I wish more comics did this.
I mainly remember Firestar from Spider Man & His Amazing Friends. Speaking of which, I wish they brought Lightwave and Videoman into the comic books. Great video!
It's really cool to see a hero actually get the chance to grow up
I live in England so I listen to these every Saturday morning. Great videos man! Firestar holds a special place in my heart cause I had so many episodes of Spider-Man and his amazing friends on VHS Even though I was born a decade after it aired.
Never realized they kept her so young for so long. My first and only real exposure to Firestar was the Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends show (or whatever it was called...with Iceman).
BUTTER RUM, NOOOOOOO!
Every time they try to make Emma Frost into morally grey or even good character, I always remember Butter Rum and am like nope, she has already committed an unforgivable act
Thanks for the amazing video ❤
Always loved Firestar. Should have mentioned that she was originally created for the cartoon Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.
Your work is appreciated. Love seeing all the comic panels along with the narrative.
Angel had a hold on me since the first episode of "Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends". Despite the "She's an alternate MJ" concept, I thought they didn't do a bad job in fleshing out a history for her. As soon as they started publishing her limited series, I got every issue. To this day I'll still see Emma as a villain no matter what writers try changing. Then she disappeared. I couldn't understand why they dropped a character of such potential. Then, I started picking up New Warriors because she was in it. And as could be guessed, I was NOT a fan of Vance.
I thought getting invited to the Avengers was a well deserved achievement for her and gave her more opportunities to grow from the 13 year old Emma picked up years previous. Unfortunately, life dictated that I couldn't keep up with comics anymore so I missed the entire Runaways arc and everything else in the past 20 years. So happy to see the spotlight land on her.
Firestar was much better than an Alternate MJ because:
-She wasn't arrogant
-She was nice and very down to earth
-Spiderman (& Iceman) could count on her as superheroes
-She could understand Spiderman (which MJ couldn't really do until they were married)
Some could argue that this made Firestar too much of the perfect girl in all of Marvel.
Firestar wasn't an "Ulternate MJ Concept" she was created because of legal issues regarding the name Human Torch whom they were originally going to team with Spider-Man and Ice Man. A bit of serendipity in my opinion 😁
@@JLvatronWasn't MJ nice and down to Earth?
@@Weirdman20 I didn't read the comics much, but I was under the impression she was portrayed as arrogant and unapproachable.
Fire star has been one of my favorites ever since the spider man & his amazing friends show I saw as a child. Good to hear her whole origin.
Well done on doing such a thorough on these origin stories. The top-tier origin stories have been done to death, but the less well-known ones tend to be overlooked. I've just searched out the Daimon Hellstrom one for nostalgia's sake and I'd like to suggest two others from that era for your consideration: Howard the Duck and ROM, SpaceKnight.
Wow. Great breakdown!
Nice drop of 'amazing friends' there at the end.
Thank you so much I love your videos 😊
Firestarter was on spider-man and his amazing friends and a member of The New Warriors. 😀👍
She my favorite she the reason I like starfire
@@MONKEYDZETS me too.😀👍
Firestar, X-23, and Harley Q all debuted on the cartoons, ... Kinda cool
Batgirl was created also for a TV show (not a cartoon though) the 1966 Batman TV show.
Wow!!!!! I LOVE FireStar!!!! "SpiderMan and his amazing friends" was one of my favorite cartoons!!!!! 😊✨️
Thank you very much for your video. I have been collecting comics since I was four so 1985 and this is the first time I have really seen someone do the research and dig deep. Thank you. I have loved Firestar since I was a kid from the cartoon and was transfixed when I saw the new warriors. Probably my fave right up there with Uncanny Xmen. I never knew about the Freedom Force run and I missed the I love marvel one shot since our comic books store before it closed was lucky to get 10 out of 25 books right on your pull list.
0:44 That panel right that is one I have never forgotten. I remember being disappointed when I was a kid that the creases on my palm didn't form an M on either of my hands. And for some reason that memory has always stuck with me.
I know cancer is no joke but in the comic book superhero space it’s hard to take any illness seriously cause it’s a world where gamma and cosmic radiation gives you powers instead of death and machines that literally steal your life essences and transfers it to others is just commmon like I know Reed has a cure for it
Uh…
Her origin was on TV
Firestar is really cool. She powers up everyone that's already fighting.
Hi, new subscriber here 😁 Firestar has always been one my most favorite Marvel heroine's for sure 😊
Thanks for sharing this entertaining video 🤩
Thanks for this. I lost track of Firestar after the new warriors and I had stopped collecting comics in the mid 90s. . She was my favorite since the amazing friends
I dig these vids on lesser known characters...been reading comics 40 years and barely knew anything about Firestar!
I remember Firestar from that old 1980s cartoon Spiderman and His Amazing Friends. She was my favorite one in that group. Loved this Firestar Origin video. One of my favorite mutant heroes.
She's been apart of so many groups, it's exhausting. 🥵
I loved firestar she’s really awesome
Pretty much......no......every time MerryMarvelite has posted! I love it!
This is why we need a marvel universe online stories like this being apart of marve and their adventures and making our own adventures is awesome
Love Angelica. Definitely in my top ten of favorite Marvel characters.
This brings back memories!
Love her always!❤
Always good to have a reminder that Emma Frost merc'd a horse
Mutants and animals don’t mix half the time.
I mean remember when Beast tried to romance a cat?
And she merc’ed the horse to try and recruit Firestar in a battle against Selene.
Selene.
The 17,000 year old vampiric witch Dominatrix who resurrects all the time because she’s an External. That Selene.
To Emma’s defense; the horse was named Butter Rum. What quality of life did that name give? I joke, honestly.
I do love how in Fall of X, Emma’s like “I don’t think Angelica is a traitor. But if she is, I have the urn for when I slip back into my Butter Rum Phase ready”.
I will say Spiral vs Firestar is really funny.
Spider friends ????
GO FOR IT!
'THIS CHANNEL IS EXCELSIOR' ..
Now this is truly superior. A proper, linear history of the mutant world’s most underrated heroines. Thank you!
Thank you. I've always liked her in the 80's cartoon. Never knew her story.
Wow a surprisingly deep character
Can you do history of the characters mentioned in this video?
Are you going to do history of Quasar this month?
Great video but I can't believe you didn't mention she was first created on Spider-Man and his amazing friends before making the leap to comic books.
Some characters go right under the radar and Firestar was one of those for me. Aside from all of the new warriors stuff, I knew NONE of this. I’m glad to watch this because it filled in a bunch of holes for me.
as one of my fav heroes. Been reading her since I discovered her in maximum carnage and new warriors. Happy she got an Ep
Awesome
Are you going to do history of Vance_Astrovik AKA Justice who's a love interest of Firestar from the comics?
Since you did the history of Firestar, Night Trasher and Nova Richard Rider, Are you going to do history of the other members of the New Warriors?
I always found her origin story in Spider-man and his amazing friends to be very touching
What would have happened if Charles Xavier got to Firestar before Emma Frost could?
It would've played out exactly as it does in the animates series "Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends": Became part of the X-Men in her teens, went to the same college as Bobby Drake & Peter Parker, forming their own super team & eventually began dating Peter.
Now, where it would it have gone from there..?
That's an alternate timeline that would be very interesting.
My first memory introduction into marvel was a cartoon that had Spider-man, Firestar, and Ice-man cartoon. Loved that show as a child.
I used to watch spiderman and his amazing friends all the time! Man I’m going on a deep dive to find it now!
She’s now an X-Man and seemed placed in a good role (hopefully) and a very dangerous one by Jean Grey to infiltrate Orchis and help the mutants in the final battle.
I’ve loved Firestar since I first saw her on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends on television.
This is good.
20:04 always amazed me how some characters age up, while others do not in Marvel.
Will you do a video listing every member of the Defenders?
I loved her on Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. ❤💃🏾
Love Angelica !! I wish she was more associated with the X-men in the past
I am OLD enough to remember watching Firestar rooming with Spiderman and Iceman on saturday morning cartoons! She will always be my favorite Redhead in all of Marvel...and there are a whole lot of them! 🙌🏾
Thanks. Never hear about her. My new redhead crush
Since you did the History of the Mandarin and Fin_Fang_Foom, can you do history of Ultimo as well as the Shang-Chi villain known as the Death_Dealer?
Ah, my childhood crush 😘~❤🇵🇭
Are you going to do history of Ironheart, M'Baku, Namora, Attuma and Shuri as the Black Panther since they played a major role in the Black Panther Wakanda Forever movie?
My first introduction to Firestar when I was a kid was in the old Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoons. I’m confused as to how she joined Spider-Man and Iceman when her counterpart in the comics has such a different background. Did Spider-Man, Firestar, and Iceman ever join forces in the comics?
Love her she is awesome
I liked her character since the cartoon spiderman and his amazing friends good old Saturday morning cartoons 🎉
Can you do history of the Beyonder, Crossfire, Living Laser, Iron Monger, Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash, Ultimo, Darkhawk, Union Jack, Annihilus, the Badoon and the Broods?
Spiderman and his Amazing Friends will always be one of my most cherished memories. Firestar was hot! Yes, I went there.
I only knew her from the show she was in with spider man and ice man. Used to love that cartoon.
Under-rated comic babe.
First crush, great character in the animated series with Spidey and Bobby.
Why didn't you go over the Spiderman and his Amazing friends ? This is where alot of us knew her from .I knew Iceman and Spiderman from the comics it made me go looking for her and I really didn't click with many of her stuff but the X-Men and Avengers stuff . And what was the Japanese fire guy ? I can't think of his name but wasn't he her love interest on Spider friends ?
he just goes over comic history
Sunfire. He had been part of Giant-Sized X-Men #1. National hero of Japan. There had been a couple of X-Men story arcs where Sunfire and Iceman were involved. First meeting with Colossus's older brother in another dimension, Iceman's rescue of Opal Tanaka from the Cyberai, and Iceman snuffing Sunfire's powers at the atomic level while also piloting the Blackbird.
There also was an issue of a Spider-Man title where he tried to play matchmaker between Bobby and Angelica.
You're referring to Sunfire. He's the Japanese guy that was her love interest, but that only lasted one episode. Back then they rarely did serialized stories in cartoons. Getting back to Sunfire, in order for that relationship to have any staying power he would have to move to New York or she would have to move to Japan.
What do you think is the best thing about Firestar in the Comics compared to the Fire Mutants Magma, Sunfire and Pyro along with the Inhuman Inferno? Which one of her powers and abilities do you think is the best?
Interesting. I'm just glad that they didn't include the time during the animated Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends series during her history. Otherwise. It would have been a mess when it came to both Spider-Man and Iceman trying to go out with her when they were living at Aunt May's house
This origin story about "Firestar" is way different from the one I saw on "Spider-Man & his Amazing Friends."
The origin of Firestar could best by described in one sentence: She was born that way. This is more like her entire life.
Can you do history of the A-Force, U-Foes, Excalibur team, the Ultimates team, Starjammers, Alpha Flight, the Annihilators, the Invaders, the Squadron Supreme, Doom Maidens, the Midnight_Sons, Young Avengers, Dark Avengers, Masters of Evil, the Thunderbolts and the Champions?
Can you do origin of the Grim Reaper, Quicksilver, Devondra, Sentry, Mr Immortal, Captain Universe, Dreadknight, Deathcry, Blizzard, Starhawk, Flerken, Whirlwind, Chemistro, Whiplash, Ronan the Accuser, Ego the Living Planet, the Living Tribunal and Palibok the Power Skrull along with Avenger-X and the Protector?
Firestar is cool, i hope we see her in the mcu and become friends with spiderman alongside iceman.
Damn! 🤯 I can't believe it, I'm a very special person too! I got the same M shape on my palms too!
I had the VHS for Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends with the "A Firestar is Born" episode. That one girl Bonnie always called her Angelica jinx and framed her for some stolen trophy.
