University of Houston is my dream school. It’s the summer before my junior year and I’ll be attending a summer program they offer for high schoolers interested in architecture.
Unfortunately, I can’t take art in high school because the teacher really doesn’t like my work. I took art 1 my freshman year but she was so mean towards me. I ended the year with a B.
I feel like art class should be an easy A as long as you put forth the effort. And I definitely did. That class killed my gpa.
So while I would love to carry on in higher art classes, I just can’t afford to have a lower gpa because I know that it’s hard to get accepted to an architecture major. I feel like a 3.87/4.0 (my current gpa) is barely enough to have a chance.

Schools want you to know Rhino, but outside of a few firms it's pretty useless in the field. SketchUp is the choice SD software at most offices. Even if someone's school bans it (which is just a ridiculous way for them to make school more difficult and exclusive), still learn it anyway because it'll come in handy at work.

Interesting and very thorough video Ashley. This is going to be my go to if anyone asks about architecture!
Curious what you think about people using social media to build a portfolio? Is there a way people could capture their work on Instagram and then use that as a portfolio?

Thank you! Social media is a great way to show your work, it could also potentially help land you a job within the industry. While also helping you build your portfolio.

@@ArchitecturewithAshley I'm glad to hear that! Making a video on your undergraduate thesis would also be fantastic; I hope you'll include it on your list.
And since I'm with this channel for quite a bit now, I have a hunch that it's subscriber count will stiffly climb. Keep on going. Love from Bangladesh. 💖🇧🇩

The whole thing is a scam, Architecture/Architect; the educators could not grasp that the best learning is on the job, inflating the costs of their future prospects in an archaic university system whilst all the while loosing talent to other fields, whilst again inflating their own importance always reaching back to the golden era of creativity not knowing they were a service industry in decline now left as plebs to certain corporate egos at a whim and easily forgotten further cementing the decline of the title..
