Trump's sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have been fined $4 million apiece, and former Trump Organization CFO has been fined $1 million.

In fact, those banks had their own people do their own valuation of the holdings being used for collateral and considered Trump a good risk for lending the money too. At no time were the banks deceived and they knew exactly what the collateral was worth. The banks, in short, took on no added risk and were not deceived by anyone.
They never dodged "their share of the tax burden". The state isn't entitled to more taxes than the property is actually worth regardless of what the owner thinks it's worth. For example, if you believe your property is worth 1m USD, but it's only worth 300k USD the state cannot tax the property on your 1m USD valuation because it is only worth 300k USD.
