  • Today we are going to change the Inspira 2.0/Lancer GT Rebadged engine mounting.
    Problem we were having with the car was that there is a loud foreign noise from the engine bay and sounded like vibration of parts that should not and after a minor diagnosis, it was determined that the engine mount have given way and needs replacements.
    Watch till the end to have a summary of my thoughts on this DIY.

    Hi there, first of all a great video on how to change by yourself! My brother's car is also having a similar issue with the vibrations. I already have some tools prepared aside from Jack stands and a hydraulic jack which I think will be essential for changing the mountings underneath. Throughout the video in between cuts... Have you tried to startup the car after changing each mounting just to see whether it was the first mounting that was actually the one causing the issue? Or did the mountings come in a set upon your purchase and you just decide to change it all anyways.

    • @asokaheng4312

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your compliment. I will try to answer all your question as structured as I can.
      - Jack stand - 3 tonne, hydraulic jack - 3 tonne, you will need to get a pair of jack stands.
      - I did not try starting up the car in between each mounting ( i bought a set and was going to change all anyway )
      - I highly do not think those mounts are original Japan. I got mine for around 1k 3 years back. Unlikely for the price to drop till 355. It is entirely up to you on which mount you want to get but based on my research previously, non-original mounts will last around 2 to 3 years where as original mitsubishi mounts have been known to last me around 8 years. The current mounts have been in used for 3 years plus, and its still performing like new. No vibration or uneasy noises from it.
      Hope this helps.

      When removing the engine mounts, i didn't have to support the engine from the bottom as everytime i removed one mount, there is 3 other mounts holding the engine up. That said, when I am installing a new mount, i have to jack the engine up a bit in order to fit the mount in. The location where I jack varies for each mount. I did remember i jack it up at the pan as well, but i used some cardboard i have to cushion the pan and jack. Never jack using jack to pan direct as you will dent or puncture a hole into the pan.

    just sharing.. from my xperince with my 6-yrs old 2.0inspira..dasboard vibrate during idle.. *rplaced all 3-mounting. G/Box+engine. *Knocking sound while drive at uneven roads.. Pls carefully check the antiroll bars bush.. Coz many owners@mechanics make mistake n wasted thousand$$ when rplaced un necessory prts..Like.. lower arm& absorber @mounting+ other related to front wheel suspensions.. But failed to check antirollbar bush that contributed to noisy@knocking sounds. It cost below $200 only.! my car like new after rplaced all that prts.!

      I agree, Always start with the cheapest parts to replace. I changed my ARB bushing or the spare part shop calls it coffin bushing (cause it looks like old chinese coffin) first. I don't have a video of that cause it was before I started my channel.
      But always start replacing with the cheapest things first and move up if issue is not solved. For mine, changing the ARB bushing did not help at all.

      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 4 lety +1

      Finally had some time to take it down yesterday night. Nothing seems to be out of order. But since it was down, I swapped it to the correct position and did a test drive......... no difference. So based on that, I would say in the span of around 7 months, there was no difference in the direction that mount was placed. Maybe after a longer period, there would be.

    Kenapa ye... Mounting dh tukar... But still rasa gegar bahagian dalam kereta...

    • @TCsAnythingGoes
      @TCsAnythingGoes  Před 4 lety +2

      gegar masa jalan ke masa kereta idle.
      Kalau masa jalan gegar, ada jugak kemungkinan balancing tyre sudah lari atau mana mana satu bushing bawah kereta yang sudah rosak.
      Kalau masa idle:
      - kena check samada engine mounting ada install betul ke tak, ketat ke tak.
      - extra load sebab mana mana satu bearing jam ( biasanya ada bunyi kalau bearing jam)
      - engine health - ada tak performance kereta macam kurang dari biasa. Kalau 1 cylinder tak berapa cantik dah pun akan menyebabkan engine gegar berlebihan.
      Ada banyak lagi scenario yang mungkin terjadi. Susah nak diagnose tanpa tgk kereta tu.
