It amazed me to learn back in the 80s how much the Russians loved our music and only learned this because I worked with a bunch of Russian ladies and the one who I became good friends with to this day, was always listening to her Walkman and I assumed she was listening to Russian music until one day I asked her what she was listening to and she passed me her headset and much to my surprise it was Barry White, who had performed in Russia along with other artists that just amazed me and made me proud at the same time and we became fast and furious friends from that day 'til this one! Lol

Zhane, Chante Moore, Tamia, D Cox & Angie Stone can also be included. Growing up in the late 80s & 90s were incredible. Changing subjects: black women have been sexualized since they were auctioned off (while naked) during slavery, blaxploitation movies, Kardashians, A Rose, Iggy, etc, instagram and other social media outlets.

What a wonderful surprise Funky! My absolute Favorite Living Legend The Miki Howard. I remember seeing her at Blues Alley in Washington DC before I relocated to another state. I went by myself. Miki was fantastic and everything I expected. She sang Love Under New Management flawlessly about 2 feet away from the bar where I was sitting and I was singing with her and I almost passed out until this guy tapped me on my shoulders and said you need to be on stage it made my whole night. Best Concert EVER! I would only pay to see her❤
