- I've reviewed the 3 series before but not like this, the 330d is quite simply the best car you can get at the moment. There's no electric car that comes anywhere near what this car can do.

Love these reviews! So honest and true. I have a 335d touring and it's easily the best car I've owned. There is an M340d touring available also......Nice!
330d is brilliant with so many power and great 3.0 engine. I have 5 series but planing to change it with 3 or 4. New 4 coupe will be absolutely beautiful!! Bob good reviews. I like your particularly one on 640d gran coupe. Great review!!
Great vid Bob, I’ve had one and yes atop motor. Keep up the good work.
A great review and nice to hear someone who's not afraid to say combustion engines aren't dead quite yet. Loving your presenting style too😂
I have a E91 330xd Manuel 6 speed. People who never rode these cars ,can't tell what they are about. After owning a variety of cars & sportcars +400 HP , i have to say, these M57 engines with a tune etc ,are incredible ! the TORQUE is so friggin addictive. got mine currently stage 2 with 316hp and 750nm. The way it pulls is awsome.
Love it, and love diesel too, BMW make the best 6 cylinder diesel
Brilliant engine and car!
@@BobFlavinVideo 100%
@@BobFlavinVideo any chance you could do a review on the new M340d ?????
Keep it up Bob love the show. 👍
Thanks Rory!
I've been running a 330d touring since August and your right, mine is a 55 plate 06 and only rear wheel drive as a BMW should be, as you say it is amazing plenty of power and for a big engine reasonably good on fuel ,I get 37/39 mpg average on a tankful and as I don't like motorways much I have a great deal of fun driving from Manchester to South Wales and back a few times a year.
So you get 37/39 driving in town?
Nice review and amazing car. You can deactivate automatic distance control by long pressing the distance control buttons!
Funny and educational.....love your reviews Bob
The best reviews on CZcams from Bob Flavin, honest, smart and interesting
Thank you very much Peter!
Have the same car with a 2.0 d x drive. X drive is fantastic. It’s rear wheel biased and the grip Is phenomenonal
Yup. Daily driver is a beat up Legacy sedan...chipped to 170hp, love it. This is dream car😎
Being a 6 cyl and being a BMW is enough, end of the story. Everything else is just fun. :) Great video mate. Enjoyed.
I agree with you Bob, but be prepared to get some backlash from Tesla cult members.
Oh I hope the Tesla people arrive, I'm armed with info about diesel and I'm driving the Mercedes EQC which is brilliant!
€78000 that’s ridiculous , was thinking would be €50k
It's all the taxes we pay in Ireland that drive up the price of everything automotive
I don’t doubt it , END THE WAR ON THE MOTORIST 😂👍🏼
DRIVE WITH IG in the uk it’s around 40k
Yes I thought more £45k for a 3 series
If you wanted a bottom spec one in the uk its £32,565 or for estate £34,065
Great review! I’m just waiting for my 330e touring to be delivered, same colour combo! Have you tested the hybrid?
I really love your review and you also have a hell of a rugby side too.
Enjoyed that thanks...
I recently bought a 330d Drive Touring and it is without doubt the best all round car I've ever owned......
What other cars have you owned? Looking at buying one these. Thanks
A lot of time and effort goes into these videos Bob thank you very much. All the best.
But you watched only his face almost 90% of this video. One camera angle video is simple, cheap and lame kind of production.
zuti071 why don’t you make a better video then?
Bob lovin the tic tick stuff and just came over here as I found out you had the channel , any comments on a BMW 320i tourer 2007 how to keep it going well , cheers
Awesome review
Thank you 🙏
Trick with trying to get a polariser off the lens is to gently without squeezing twist off.. if all else fails use a hacksaw and gently cut across the threads of it, without hitting the glass.. and then twist off using a the back of the blade do to speak.. google Adam savage and filter cutting...
you are right. it is the "tree dirty tree" according to the Tesla fans
I guess sometimes CZcams recommends good stuff... Honest video 👍🏻
Absolutely love your videos Bob. You have such a great way of explaining things it makes your videos a pleasure to watch. You remind me of an old school teacher I had who was cool and had this amazing gift of making you want to listen and learn but you'd act the eejit in the next class LOL
Thanks very much ScuuBdoo you are very kind! 👊

On the strength of this video I’ve just bought a 13plate F31 SE ED with 75k on the clock, one owner from new with full main dealer service history for £7.5k, and enough optional extras to keep me happy. And at 75k the engine
Is only just run in. Bargain
I have just bought the 4-cyl 320d Msport Touring and it looks, drives and feels superb! Would love the 330d but couldn't justify/afford it! And there are still relatively few on the road!
Same here. I’ve been driving one for 3 months and have only spotted one other😎
330d is an absolute beauty of a car. Can’t get me out of it.
Just imagine that I still have my F31 330d xDrive with bags of options way above £13k and still loving it after nearly 7 years. Never had an issue with it got 160k miles on it but things have changed long time and really need to move over. But will definitely be the same 3 series with the same engine might have the same spec🤞🏻but what a runner 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
got one 2 months ago. real perfection. best car u can get weithin it‘s class actually. thx bmw!
When're you reviewing the M340i Touring? Looking to replace my Golf 7R Wagon with one and after an overnight drive I'm in love!
I just bought the older version yesterday and i cant believe the power. loving it. But if you see me out, please forgive me for not using the indicators...
that 3 litre straight six is an awesome engine.
best available. had 5 2 liters mercedes and one 3.0 audi… nothing compared.
It really is. I completely agree.
Great review of a nice car by a cool guy.
Does it have low blinker fluid alert on HUD? Great review! If cash was no prob, Alpina D5 Touring?
Just buying a year old one for 20% off list price, hopefully in 3 years I'll be able to buy an electric car with 800 mile range, the carrying capacity of my X7and this 330d my partner will drive, I have 3 greyhounds who you can't fit in an 'e' car boot. Diesel automatics are just a dream to drive so much flexibility and relaxed driving, never in a wrong gear and never short of power. My X7 has the same engine as this and even weighing 2.5 tonnes this 6 pot engine still has loads of poke, very easy to be over the speed limit with very light foot on the accelerator.
Bob, Ted Kravitz on Sky F1, yesterday during the testing, even said petrol and diesel ain’t going nowhere.. saying that the UKS grid needs to be updated first etc etc.. he was also talking about the lack of range of an electric..that beemer looks just fab..
burning the premium diesel for the first time in Passat estate, and not even reading halfway through the tank, getting a predicted range of well over 1,300 Kim’s and climbing for a 2916 1.6
ok forget about the grid... it's amazing how EV converts seem to ignore the changing landscape as far as living and habitation go. Look at all of the homes currently being built in Dublin, not all apartments have designated car spaces and those that do cost an arm and a leg. If even 1/4 of the cars we're EV and those had to share the token 3/4 spaces assigned to charging HOW ON EARTH would 20-30% of the cars charge if we all converted??? And that's before I comment on on-street parking. I recently changed one of the cars to an EV, Nissan Leaf and have to admit I love it and it totally fulfils the needs of city hop about and short runs. BUT I am lucky to have a front garden where I have had a charge point installed to charge. Not 1,000 yards from me are houses newly built that share on-street parking and shared spaces as there are no front gardens... This is how houses / apartments are being developed now... How will they charge if everyone converts??? EV great idea more thought and planning needed...
Looking at a 6-8 year old one of these, there is a reason the Police love them. Fast, frugal and comfortable.
What was the instant km/l at say 120km/h. Traditionally the 330 could tow a tank and had the pulling power of a tractor. My ideal cross country cruiser
Just bought one. X Drive M Sport plus. Fantastic.
I'm happy you've made the right decision!
Congrats!!
I just bought a 330d xdrive on a 12 plate with 166 miles on the clock with 34 month full bmw warranty. Chuffed
Mark Woolham 166 miles on a 12 plate?!??!
A J built 2012, registered 1/12/19. Its a new old car
The X Drive that’s on most BMWs (except the new 1 series) is rear biased and is the best of both worlds. I can still put it in sport plus (ease of the traction control) and kick the tail out in a corner
Is it correct xdrive does shift 100% of its power to the rear anyway as a non xdrive does? It also has the ability to when it detects slip, shift the power to a rear bias of 60/40.
@@johnseffs0161 Most X drive systems can send 100% of their power to a single wheel. In normal driving I believe it’s 60-40 rear biased.
The x drive system in the new 1 series and a couple of other models is more like the 4 wheel drive system in a Golf R
@@bengenovese6591 Thanks Ben, I am collecting a f30 330d xdrive 2013 next week and I'm keen to learn about it.
@@johnseffs0161 great car
Yes, but it also makes the car quite a bit heavier
As someone who's owned many BMWs over the years, both sDrive and xDrive, to so say the latest cars are 'ruined' by xDrive is frankly delusional. They're rear biased, and despite what you say the xDrive is there for acceleration on wet junctions etc as much as any snow.
I've had a F30 330d, 330dx, 335dx, and now a G20 320dx. The 330d spent half its life with the TC light on.
73henny agree mate, guys talking absolute nonsense
You make a very good point on difference with EV. Nobody explains that if you buy a Tesla or some other EV, it needs to stay on a drip 24/7! So even if you dont use it for a week, it will use power and if you dont have solar panels, that will cost you money in todays expensive power contracts. I had a look at the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, 650 Ferrari Enzo horsepower but the inside looks like a Toyota Yaris and sounds like one too, with all the beeps and warnings. I decided my new car will also be a BMW 3 series G21, either a 320d or a 330d. Why not a 340d? Because you never use or need the power. A 330d is more than enough. I currently drive a 320d F31 2016 wich is getting to the end with high mileage but its just the best of all worlds: good mpg, good power, visit a petrol station every 2 or 3 weeks and go for 900km if you cruise on the highway. Must have gadgets: take the adaptive dampers and a HUD. The X-Drive is only 30kg extra but mind if you wear rear tyres more, you need to replace them all or risk damaging the X Drive mechanics. If you live in areas without many hills or snow, a Rear Wheel Drive is all you need. Diesel will stay for the next 6-10 years at least. Indeed, untill they build a 900km average range EV station that doesnt need 24/7 drip charge, and doesnt weigh 2200kgs. Keep up the good work Bob!
Hi Bob. Nice review! Is that color dravit grey? Cheers ✌🏻
It is dravit grey! In my opinion, it is a boring color, looks only good in bright sunlight!
My 330d is eight years old, with 72000 miles and has been totally reliable. Tyres discs and pads plus a bit of servicing. It’s fabulous actually. I don’t know why I think that I want an M4. I need to put that thought to bed.
I got a lexus is250 very reliable but wanted a BMW for the Torque of the diesel. Is 330D quick enough and what kind of fuel do you get
@@ozhoneybadger it's now got 80,000k on it has needed a front wheel bearing - I could hear it, and it was cheap.
It's got more power than I use 95% of the time and in its life it has averaged 43mpg.
An M4 would cost me £35-40k so I'll stick with it.
@@BillyfromConsett Yeah stick with it glad to hear it's ok. What oil do you use in it. Where can I buy one for cheap how much should I expect to pay I want one ulez Compliant
@@ozhoneybadger good luck finding a ulez compliant diesel. Maybe the post 2016 models might be. I was thinking of trading it in at BMW for an M4, but they only offered about £8k in exchange for a £39k M4. They didn't get the business.
No idea about the oil - I get it changed every 20,000 miles or so by guys who know what they're doing.
........another car I’d love to own (while it had or could have a warranty on it) alas I couldn’t sleep at night owing that much cash and I couldn’t afford to buy one outright so it remains a dream.
Great while they are in warranty......don’t expect to do high mileages without lots of expensive bills
I currently own a 2008 330d touring, I’m ready to buy new 3 series touring G20. Will have to be the 2 litre m sport, which is best to go for petrol or diesel?
How much is a nearly new E350d Mercedes estate in Ireland? About £30,000 in the UK.
I agree on the xdrive. It also makes the ride height look too high on all wheel arches
Paddy Downey that’s because they fit the msport with SE springs.....but otherwise yes the rwd is all you need most the time....I have a spare set of wheels with snow tyres so I just switch them over and I’m covered for winter 👌🏻
I love my F30 335d xdrive. I Bought it used 4 years old for 35000€, massive savings if you're not a number plate snob :)
Great cars - but the maintenance costs are ridiculous as BMW build everything to break straight out of warranty
@@ajwest3081 only built for the 1st owner.
I think this car in that colour in a 320d format is a more sensible car for ireland, specially with road tax and resale values of diesels in 5/6 years time.
Holy crap - 78K - I'm a BMW owner and that's eye watering. Is VRT at 30% for that size engine? I do like the new 3 series but would wait a year or two for the depreciation to take a chunk off.
19% its 133 grams of co2 per km.
Eco rules are such a scam. At the end of this year, you won’t be able to drive in Paris with a diesel, even though it releases less co2 into the air as an equivalent petrol.
Grip bob grip, think back to the 90s,most performance cars were 4 wheel drive.
Bob, how does this generation 330d compare vs the last? I’m looking into buying a low mileage 330 touring F series. But maybe I should fork out and get the G series? I prefer the looks of the F series
You should get a G20 or G21, these are much better-looking cars and have much better features!
My idol
Great review on a great car. I agree with you Bob about diesels. Car manufactures should be applauded for their efforts in making engines cleaner and more efficient. I'm sticking with diesel and don't care if I don't get a Christmas card from Greta Thunberg.
I like the new 330d with 286bhp 680nm 0-60 5.3 and 56mpg, it very rarely snows where I live so the xdrive is largely redundant and a hindrance to weight/mpg/driveability
Drive like a dick and you'll soon see the benefits of xdrive in ideal conditions
Hi bro, what is till today your mpg? I want to buy a 330d. Thanks
Very good car !!!
Yes.
2nd hand 640d gran coupe or 330d?
just got the 335d xdrive and its fucking insane. If u say the xdrive ruins the bmwness, then i suggest u take it for a spin. i was hooked to the bmw reardrive too, but the xdrive takes it up a notch, its much faster in the corners, much faster from 0 to 100 and the feel is the same. honestly you dont know what youre talking about. maybe if you want to drift figure 8 on a parking lot, its the right car, the xdrive beats every other aspect of driving....try it.
Everything you said is exactly how I think, Tesla fans you just enjoy your every day charge.
I’ll be buying one of these when they’re 25k in the uk
Me too!
nice review! what name has this exterior color?
Dravit grey
In the UK have priced it the same as the m340 touring .....descisions.....
this weekend i ordered a brand new 2024 330d :-) #dieselpower
Here in sweden I can't understand who would NOT buy xDrive? ;) And something sad about Diesel, is that it's not gonna be allowed to sell any new Diesel or Petrol in sweden by year 2030, I believe it's even banned already to drive a Diesel in Oslo, Norway? On top of that it seems like many countries like France, Germany, Netherlands are also pushing for no fossil fuels or at least make it expensive to drive one after like 2035 in EU. I Love Diesel and not like to have to charge my car, but at least I would have to think twice before I replace my car next time for sure.
Just today did a long m’way haul in my 530d and averaged 75mph and 50mpg. If I slowed to 60 average I would get 60mpg. Who would have an EV?
And as you said ? Why would you buy a 5 series. Well at 78k for three series a 5 is more much more.
This is nothing but a fact for any real gear head, a man who has a good feel for machines of this type. Best sports sedan, rear drive only naturally. And estate, no tnx. Just a sport limousine first class 330D M sport. My next car. But 78000€, yes very expensive way to expensive by any means. This is the reason why I am gonna wait another year and 3,4 months. And then go to Germany and get it used, 2 to 3 year's old , with 30 to 60 tkm. Still a brand new car, especially knowing how meticulous German driver's are . Only then the price will drop by 40 to 50%, and I'll buy one for 30 t €. And that's how you buy this car. The best car you can buy today. ☻
Tree tirty!! Car or plant???
The price of new cars has gone mad. Since 85% of buyer pay by PCP and only look at the monthly figures.. Car manufacturers have added 20% the the sticker prices in the last five years. Then they take it off again and make buyers think they're getting a good deal.
Damn are you trying to say Car Sales Men are sneaky??? And there I was thinking they were all my besties! I feel used now...
@@joelyons886 They are your besties until you pay a deposit Joe.
@@delboy2596 hahahaha so them nice biscuits weren't free after all! I'm gonna have to fill the boot next time im there!
Well compare to how well a car held up 20y ago.
Great and entertaining review as ever. No bull5h1t. Calls it as it is. Price a bit daft for the poor man's BMW even if its a nice machine functionally. There's a lot more out there in the market for that price that delivers more car and more space.
Ohhhh its the guy off tictok
On TikTok I’m the guy off CZcams 😊
Id imagine that price isnt far off the new audi rs4 estate 😬😬
I bought mine because of x drive!
what is this specific color called?
Dravit Grey
335d?
I am personally looking for a 330i to replace my 320i in 2-3-4 years (no d, no estate, no xDrive and no hybrid) - if I can find one that hasn't been "driven like an audi" 😁 that is .. My main concern is the forced automatic transmission.. I would really rather have the manual as I plan to keep the car for many years .. (and simply prefer manual .. )
6:05 🤣 very true!!
Off buttons on people would be very helpful
Imagine you could apply that to our politicians 😜

Nope, you are wrong! XDrive is doing a great job on all surfaces.
Diesel 6L POWER !
Get this car from UK - much cheaper. Here dealers are rip off’s
You obviously don't understand VRT
@Gerry Freeman - As far as I know VRT is illegal tax from EU point of view and Ireland has to pay penalty to EU every Year. I think in 2017 EU’s court ruled against Irish VRT

Is it as good as an audi a5 biturbo
Kilometers per Liter Liters per 100 km MPG - British MPG - United States
5.5 Liters per 100 km =
51.36 British MPG
Absolutely impossible
It does seem a bit like fantasy figs. I had a 2018 530d x drive saloon and am now in a 2020 320d xdrive m sport touring. The 530d x drive was easier on juice than the 320d x drive touring. That said the 3 series is definitely a nicer drive, particularly with the adaptive suspension. Couldn’t stick the ride in the 530 on 20 inch rims with the Irish roads
Nicer drive excluding engine...miss the big 6
Lovely capable car but horrific to maintain when they've got a few miles under their wheels and a tad pricey to buy new.
Keyboard Dancers horrific to maintain....I’m on my 4th 330d now and aside from one car that needed a timing chain replacement (glitch in the service record most likely caused that) they’ve been utterly faultless.
What makes you think they’re horrific to maintain?
